And all the "emergency phones" that's battery last over year, designed only to call emergency numbers would last like 4 months because it would need to connect into internet. World is not ready for that change

I helped with IT support for a county 911 center for about 10 years and they are some of the nicest, most patient, underpaid, and underappreciated unseen heroes who often serve as both the soft pillow and the glue that holds all emergency services together (police, fire, medical, etc).
Yelling on a radio is one of the worst things to do when using one. If you speak softly, it makes it easier for everyone to understand what you're saying. Even though it sounds quiet, it sounds perfectly fine on the other end

The top priority for dispatchers, is to hear as much about the situation as possible in as little time as possible. Screaming and talking quickly is likely to cause even more panic in the caller, which is dangerous.

I was so weirded out and guilty that I was going to go to jail. I had to speak with an operator for a 11 minutes and 34 seconds.
My mom told me a stories of my older sister calling 911 then hanging up. I guess they called back like 3 times my dad answered embarrassed had too tell them his daughter was messing around with the phone. I guess the dispatcher wasn’t happy with my dad and I get it they take the calls seriously.
Ryan S this brings back a childhood memory at my cousins birthday party, we was in the basement with her friends and a few of her cousins from her dads side. Someone thought it would be funny to pick up a cordless phone and dial 911 and the cop showed up at my aunt and uncles doorstep. Yea it went downhill from there(my dad came at the right time😉). Some friends she had! The dispatcher heard screaming in the background so yea they are gonna came no matter what..screaming or no screaming.

My town doesn't use smart911. I do use medical id app on my phone for information, it even pops up on my phone on the lock screen. Best tool I have found. Thursday night I had to call 911 and they were so helpful and got the care I needed. I am doing better today. Thank you to men and women to serve our country and our cities.

Depends on location. At mine i am a 1 person show. Normal phone calls like secretary work, 911, police, dps, sheriff, fire, ems and paper work. It gets crazy but its fun
@Tanasha Brown You must be going into the process of a larger center. Im county wise for maybe around 100,000 people. I simply had an interview with my now communications captain, and an investigator. After the first stage, i entered a second one with the captain, investigators (2) and the Sheriff. They go over your hiring packet asking the samequestions to make sure you answered truthfully. They will question your past and stuff like that. If ouve been in jail, you simply say yes or no. I pulled a fast one during my interview to make a joke lightening the preasure in the room. Its basically a test to see if youre compatable to the rest of the "family". How well you follow orders and so forth. it sounds worse then it really is.
That happened to me once when I went to the beach on vacation. It was nighttime and we were taking a stroll along the beach. Some guy ran up and said his girl was drowning so I called 911. The dispatcher just had me name off the businesses across the road and she knew exactly where I was.
My dispatchers aren't very kind. Once I was in an elevator and hit the call button with a bag by accident. After explaining what happened the dispatcher says "You can't be doing things like this. This is for emergencies only.

I really think that ALL areas need to do videos like this. The more education the more people understand. So many people don't know that their call has someone coming as you ask questions. Even on videos where the 911 tape is played people complain...why you asking stupid questions. The only one that gets me everytime is the questions....Are they awake...they answer yes. Then they ask are they breathing. i knowi know its the order it is in but i always shake my head when that happens. Anyone ever know someone that was awake and not breathing.

The trunked radio system is really neat... with 2 (i recommend 2 but its possible with 1 if you use the right software, just not as convenient) RTL-SDR R8T2X recievers (usb) you can recieve and decode Project 25 phase I, Phase 2.. Motorola nad other types of trunked radio. You can even listen to the Swat channels, surveillance channels.. stuff you won't hear on broadcastify. Check out radioreference for more info and the fcc database. Software I recommend if you're a Windows user (Win 7 is best.. sometimes Win 8.1 is fine too, ime) is SDRsharp with all plugins or as many as you need... unitrunker, virtual audio cable pretty much to start.

What's the data protection laws in the US. If someone on TH-cam even if it was an official services channel put out information like those in this video, then they would break the law and receive a massive fine? How does the US compare?

After his time is up, then he will go back to doing what a police officer does. It's just a temporarily assigned duty to him.

It's interesting to see other agencies 911 center setup. I'm a 911 Dispatcher for an agency in arkansas. Crazy how different it is in other places.

Even if you didn’t mean to call them the cops still have to come out and do what they call a welfare check just to make sure everything is fine so even if you call them as a joke they are still going to come

Sebastian Manzūr what many departments are doing now is assign a patrol officer for a certain amount of time (usually one year) to deal with social media and inform the public about their department. After his time is up, then he will go back to doing what a police officer does. It's just a temporarily assigned duty to him.
