Thanks for this real football from before, where real world was. Two great teams playing football. Worthy result from Ipswich in Anfield. Difficult place.
Such a crying shame that Ipswich will be in league one next season. Everybodies favourite 2nd team. Bobby Robson crafted a team that played some amazing football.
@@MarlboroughBlenheim1 They had some great sides. Loved it when they crushed Man United 6 - 0 in a season when Man U thought they had a real chance of winning the league.
i went to this match i was 11 years old , my first match at Anfield, i have a few of these guys autographs too but i got those in 79/80, mainly i was in the UK with my family to visit my grandparents in St Helens, which is where mum is from. my grandfather used to send me all the newspaper cuttings from the express and the echo, there was no live coverage in those days. my bedroom was painted red and white and was covered in pin ups from Shoot. anyway gday from melbourne!...nice win against Spurs this morning!!!
Some outstanding players on that pitch, some hard tough players as well....Smith, Case Kennedy, Hunter, Beattie....none of those guys shirked a tackle.
They weren't as hard as they were forced to be as many had their careers cut short through injury and worse still being expected to play while already injured.
Yes we were good. League champions in 1962, F.A Cup winners, UEFA Cup winners, runners up in the league a few times. Many players called up for international and world cup duty, one player even captained his country in the world cup finals. (Mick Mills). Gave England its two most successful managers in Sir Alf and Sir Bobby. Not only that, unbeaten at home in european competition since 1962. And it totally unacceptable that we are where we are, and have languished in the same league since 2002, it angers me. It REALLY angers me.
Mark Sims tbh I hope we keep Hurst anyway. He’s the best man to get us straight back up, then maybe we can do what Norwich did and head straight for the prem
Ipswich were a bloody good side. Not many visiting teams scored 3 at Anfield in those days.
Saw all these games at Anfield in the 70s and 80s against Ipswich, what great sides they had.
Two superb teams packed with star players. Such a shame this Ipswich team didn't win the championship.
Would have done but too many games in 80-81 when chasing three trophies

They had a team of stars - and should have won so much more

Seems so much better than football these days, too much money involved now.
David Johnson playing for Ipswich, would join Liverpool a few months later. Sadly died of throat cancer in November 2022.

Fantastic Dave thank you. I will amend the 76 video! Cheers. Matt
A tough game & what a team both were, hard as nails
but no cheating either.
I for one miss the days when the game was played hard but fair, like this one was.
Stumpy Eric!!! My favourite player
Ah yes, Ipswich. Remember when they were good? Seems such a long time ago.

@@marksims68 I echo everything you say.
Mark Sims will change soon. Looks like we’re heading to league 1😔
Unfortunately Robert it looks like we are.........

Not one of Paul Cooper's best games...great Town side though.
I think Ray would've said the same thing. Still it was at very least, entertaining and exciting
Yep, being ctitical I have Coops at fault for all 3 goals.
How did Ipswich get a free kick for the 3rd goal??
Cos the ref awarded it.
How did they cope with oly one sub allowed
