I am so glad that the trend has been towards acknowledging and including Jon's and James' presence in the rooms with even some of the more scripted shows (and this is not one of those shows).
No joke. The year before covid I got sick with an insanely bad flu or something and spent almost two weeks sick in bed and I just listened to show of the weekend
@@MateusDrake It's a magnolia tree, that grows large white flowers that are referred to as magnolias as well. It's all about context/specifying which you're specifically talking about. (I'm Southern, and there's not many plants more Southern than a magnolia.)

Okay, so firstly. The amount of fun that they're all clearly having is absolutely a wonderful joy to behold. Secondly, hearing Jon laughing off-camera is absolutely incredible.
Why do I get the feeling that many years ago, Luke thought to himself, "I sure do love Pokemon Magazine, but how can I possibly justify the expense?" and that Outside Xtra's Show of the Weekend is that idea finally bearing fruit?
Ellen's hair looking extra bright purple this week. Awesome. Lol her affection for the tiny Pika LOL the laughing in the background when Luke is all in his "therapist" pose followed by the music just got me
I realize it just para-social, but watching any of the Oxtra/Oxbox team members doing random stuff feels like hanging out with old friends. I love these guys and the nonsense.
6:45 obviously you can't tick that box unless you've spent all your life chasing daylight across the world in a van, never ever experiencing nighttime, and never stopping daydreaming
This is the top class quality content we came for! I’m with Ellen, my Happy Place is in front of that castle wearing a set of ears (counting down until April when I get to celebrate Disneyland Paris’ 30th)
I know it might not be something anybody wants to linger on, but props to both Ellen and Luke for just candidly saying they've been to therapy before. Even amidst a chaotic cavalcade of Pokemon delights, there exists a casual comment about how going to therapy is okay and should be seen as a normal thing to do
Gotta say; the best thing about these is the juxtaposition of the opposites: 'Normal adult people' reading and doing activities from a children's magazine, the inevitable off-colour jokes and questions about the ethics of Pokémon, a game inspired by escapism and a longing for a simpler time of innocent childhood bug-catching and watching kaiju animé turned into a mega-enterprise which itself has a gargantuan struggle between humble roots and corporate greed. It's like a valve on the built-up of the irony of the whole thing. Or maybe, it's just really fun? xD
Why not play with children magazines? The point of being adult, is that you can do what you want. And this squishy Pikachu is top tier merch. Thanks you two for having the guts to be yourselfs and having fun
Now I am emotionally invested in the Show of the Weekend B-plot of 2 adults trying to win a children’s drawing competition. There’s truly nothing else like Oxtra in this world.
Started my Saturday off right with a nice cup of tea and this most delightful Show of the Weekend episode. I love the chill vibes of these so much. Thanks for helping me feel a bit better about things. I love the purple hair, Ellen.
These Pokemon magazine episodes are literally my favourite things now. I'm waiting for the day Oxtra get a mention in the magazine and Luke just happens to stumble upon it 😅💕
Lol, the gleeful manic energy of this episode is fantastic XD Also, just love that the Nintendo magazine show of the weekend is becoming a regular thing, it’s so much fun. Also, love hearing Jon off screen laughter
4:34 - "Hmm, noted: Patient experiences auditory hallucinations of talking cats. Shock therapy recommended." Another banger of an episode! Always great to see you two on the couch again.
17:46 Normal. Adult. Things. And I'm absolutely blown away by Ellen's drawing ability. No wonder Luke insists on the annual challenge being within a game!
So many highlight's this week- Ellen's delight at the squishy pikachu, the entire quiz segment, Luke's pikachu puppet, John trying to take the pokeball keychain and the expressions of shock/betrayal 😂 thanks for brightening up our Saturdays Oxtra crew!
My favorite pokeball is the Heal Ball i think, I used to imagine the pocket dimension inside it was just like a pleasant smelling spa with bubbles of healing potion floating around lol This is definitely my favorite series now, thank you so much for the good vibes to get me through to next weekend!
When Luke said Ellen needs to draw an epic picture of pikachu and herself I couldn't help but think of that one picture of G.I. Joe figures posed with a squirrel.
I was smiling ridiculously wide from minute one. Lovely, lovely people being ridiculously funny and doing lovely nostalgic things. Thank you for brightening my day so much.
Producer Jon's off-screen laughter is one of the best sounds in the world, surely?
It's rare to have a video where Ellen isn't laughing the hardest of anyone, but I think Jon takes the prize this week.
4:08 / 4:12 - Timestamps for instant replay.
I need new ears, I thought it was Andy! 😂
I am so glad that the trend has been towards acknowledging and including Jon's and James' presence in the rooms with even some of the more scripted shows (and this is not one of those shows).
I literally came to the comment section to praise the wholesome sound! One of the best things about them being back on the purple sofa.
Show of the Weekend is a bit like a Dark Souls bonfire for the real world.
This is probably the sweetest and truest way I've ever heard oxtra described! ❤
So true!
I love the oxboxtra fans
100% agree!
No joke. The year before covid I got sick with an insanely bad flu or something and spent almost two weeks sick in bed and I just listened to show of the weekend
Of course Ellen was a professor! They're always named after plants so it makes sense that she's Professor Rose!!
Isn't it trees only?
@@supershinigami1 Is Magnolia a flower or a tree? I think it's a flower, if so, there's at least one exception to trees.

Charged to the OxBoxtra company credit card.

The most adorable and wholesome half-hour on TH-cam
I think that Luke actually made the best *mimicu* model ever with that rubber glove

Agree entirely! I really hoped I wasn't the only one who thought that.
Okay, so firstly. The amount of fun that they're all clearly having is absolutely a wonderful joy to behold. Secondly, hearing Jon laughing off-camera is absolutely incredible.
It's great, yeah. The energy of this video was worth learning about Ellen's desire for turning her Pokemon into candy.
More adults doing adult things- this is starting to become a bit of a happy tradition.
Yes more Pokémon magazine quizzes, surprisingly one of my favorite series from this crew. Never cease to amaze
Why do I get the feeling that many years ago, Luke thought to himself, "I sure do love Pokemon Magazine, but how can I possibly justify the expense?" and that Outside Xtra's Show of the Weekend is that idea finally bearing fruit?

YES MORE POKEMON MAGAZINE
Ellen: "I'm not overly competitive."
The jury says that was a lie
I thought drawing a Pikachu with “normal” tools like a pen was banned in OX
Andy demanded that they put in some practice before the next Christmas challenge.
"Are you good with money?"
Buys a Pokémon magazine.
"No."
Luke made a solid investment. It keeps him from having to write content once a month. 😆
This is why young people these days can't afford houses - they buy Pokemon magazines.
They're expensive and mostly made up of posters. It's a risky investment.. UNLESS there's the odd shiny involved.
I realize it just para-social, but watching any of the Oxtra/Oxbox team members doing random stuff feels like hanging out with old friends. I love these guys and the nonsense.
So much this!
You know the day has been bad when a caffeine ridden team gets exited about a pikachu squishy

I'm loving that reading Pokémon magazine has become a monthly thing 😂
This makes up for the pokemags I couldn’t afford as a kid!
Lukes eyes when he says I don't f@ing think so is just him yet again staring into my soul
i love how this has turned into arts and crafts, that is such a great looking drawing by Professor Rose
and Luke's PikaGlove rocks
I tihnk they should have used the thumb as a tail.
Luke missed his calling as a (admittedly chaotic and subversive) Blue Peter presenter 😂
Yeah Ellen's drawing was awesome, but Luke's marigold Pikachu puppet, just, MWAH (chef's kiss)

I thought the same thing. It's a lovely note to just add in there.
This is so darn wholesome and hilarious 🤣

Just out of Ellen's picture: Disney security guards coming to escort her and Pikachu off-site for not being part of the Disney Empire.

Ellen being able to hold only her pinky closed is the most impressive part of the video

Catching your 30 year old self lol'ing at two adults doing a Pokémon quiz on your own first thing on a Saturday morning is strangley fine.
It starts with Luke singing, so it's already great. Best birthday ever.
You always make cheap gifts from a grocery store 7-11, made for wee little kids, endlessly entertaining!!!
Professor Rose has a pretty good Pokémon ring to it 💃

First time I've ever seen Luke swear... There's a beautiful poetry to the fact that it's over a Pikachu squishy.
As a father of three, you absolutely nailed the behavior of children when they get tired!
