Remember people: Australia is Southern Hemisphere. December is Summer in the Southern Hemisphere, not Winter, therefore it is Summer when Christmas rolls around. Hopefully this should stop people from asking why it was hot and humid in the first story :-D

When I was young I had this experience of a tall shadow man who would stand at the end of my bed but my different experiences is I was never scared of him my feelings of him were calm not fear,

I work in a psychiatric hospital. Part of my duties is to do the night shift. Over the course of the years I have experienced many strange and unexplainable ''happenings''. 1 of which is the shadow of a man with a Fedora hat. I can't say anything untowards has happened to myself or anyone close to me. I'm not the only 1 to have seen it. 'He' appeared to myself and a friend one night, just walked up the corridor and throught a set of doors like it was something that happens everyday. It doesn't scare us, just a bit weird.

I lived in a council house in Chessington once and whenever I passed the lounge door I would see an old lady sitting in the armchair in the corner at the extreme of my peripheral vision but when I stepped back to check I would only see the chair. This happened often and was quite spooky.

  • @uninterupptedwriter
    @uninterupptedwriter 5 ปีที่แล้ว +252

I don't often tell my stories because they're ridiculous, but I lived in a house for 14 years with one of these 'shadow people.' Sorry for the long read below, but I thought maybe the Bedtime Stories guys would be intrigued by them:
    Up until age 14:
Every night, after my father and mother had gone to bed and the house was dark, things would start dropping in my room in the dark. It sounded like rocks or pebbles.
Dark shapes (outline of a human, but BLACK) would sweep across the room and then toward me.
Things would growl in my ear.
I would wake up with my blanket on the other side of the room (possible sleepwalking, but notable, regardless).
My cat wouldn’t enter my room. Once she did, she screamed, all her hair stood on end, and she tried to claw her way out of the window.
A heart locket was rolled down my back when I sat half-naked on my bed after a bath (12 years old). There was no one else in the room. To clarify: earlier in the day, I had ‘bowled - cricket’ the heart locket into the far corner of the bed. That night, when I sat down, it was still in the far corner. About a minute passed and then it was rolled (sharp, bump, sharp, bump) down my spine, from the base of my neck to my lower back. When I looked over my shoulder, there was no one there, and the heart locket was on the bed right behind me.
I never discussed these occurrences with my parents until I was much older. They then told me that before we’d moved into that house, a mentally ill boy had committed suicide/died in that room.
    19 - 23:
I lived in a student house, where one other student and I witnessed an apparition: this was an old man, translucent, balding, and walking around outside. He seemed downcast/almost sad.
A different friend and I heard a noise in the passage and went to check it out (thinking it might be a burglar). We both witnessed the black outline of a man moving along the wall in a brightly lit corridor. The hall was empty.
Another friend of mine lived in a room nearby and complained of someone sighing/moaning in his room after dark. One night, he couldn’t take it and called me, so we all decided to sleep in one room together. We dragged his mattress out, left his lights on, his Bible open, and some Christian music on (he was Christian, and it gave him comfort). We came back to fetch his pillows. All the lights were off, the Bible was closed, the music was off, and all cupboard doors were open. (Once again, it was not actually witnessed myself, so I can’t say it wasn’t a prank - though, the house was empty except for the three of us, and we were all together at the time it happened).

I believe sleep paralysis can't happen if you sleep on your sides, as all people who had it described themselves lying on their back. I personally my whole life sleep on my sides and never experienced sleep paralysis (no regrets :D). I also read it's much better for brain when your head turned to the side in sleep, as it helps brain to clean up and refresh it's cells, something about better flow of blood or cerebrospinal fluid...

@@Big_Sloppa I always sleep on my side, and have experienced sleep paralysis in a supernatural way. I wake up, unable to move, and I see them. I've been attacked, strangled, punched, and wake up with scratches on my neck or chest. I understand your objective mind rules out this phenomena as sleep paralysis, but once you experience it, and are being physically attacked, you think entirely different on this phenomena.

i've been dealing with them for three years. They attached themselves to me when my German Shepherd died. I suspect while completely abusing DMT my soul blipped on their radar and my dog was the one keeping them away (i think). Here are some things that I've learned about them
    1. They can shift shapes, they can look like anything they want. They can become really tall or really small. They can look like animals or people, whatever they prefer
    2. They can induce sleep paralysis and invade your dreams. They prefer to look like people you know
    3. They have their own personalities and their own reasons for attaching themselves to you, none of which are good. They are all variations of evil
    4. They are EXTREMELY hard to get rid of, I've tried everything the past three years. I still haven't figured out something that will make them leave, so if one attaches itself to you have fun
    5. They really get off on your confusion and your fear, so don't be scared. After all they are less than you. This is what I tell myself to get to sleep. Just this morning one bit me on the hand and woke me up.

it is said by a witch that the shadow people are just demons that are assigned to a person who was now deceased. She said that these demons was left undismissed and so remains to the habitations of that deceased person or any places that he frequented to. I think the story of Legion in the Bible is connected to this. Remember when they were out of the man, they begged Jesus not to return them to the abyss, they don’t want to return where they come from because they knew they were going to be punished for their expulsion. So these demons just pretended that their assigned target was still alive and go about walking along.

My childhood friend always talked about a 'person' that would appear in his room at night. He said it was completely black; an adult sized silhouette of a person that would either be crouched on the end of his bed or laying on his ceiling or wall. That's right, laying. We were 14 years old when he first worked up the courage to tell us about it, so this was in 1994 and it visited him up to when we started college. In 1997 a group of us, 6 in total, went to spend the weekend at his family's cabin in Star Valley Wyoming which is just over the mountains from our home town in Idaho. That night we all would be witness to this thing, this silhouette 'person'. It was a traumatic night for all of us who were there. After all these years I can still hear my buddies frantic, horrified screams when it appeared that night at the cabin. And the fear and the awe that ran thru me when I finally knew he wasn't making it up... They are real.

If what your saying is true, then you have to ask that friend if you still have any constant with him if his father and or grandfather have had the same experiences. These things tend to be multi-generational, they latch on to families. If they are not exorcized by the fourth generation it becomes permanent and they can freely possess members of the said family.

The last visit happened in 2014 and it was standing this time near my wardrobe on the left of me..
Scared the shit out of me EVERY TIME to the point I felt my heart almost beat out of my chest . Most terrifying thing to ever happen to me for years.

Ive experienced something similar in the last story. Laying in bed trying to go to sleep and all of a sudden i heard heavy footsteps come into my bedroom. I didn't throw the covers over me, i just froze. I had my eyes shut already and just pretended to be asleep. Then i heard the footsteps walk out of my room and go into my sister's bedroom. I heard her say my name but she knew it wasn't me. She called me again and sounded distressed, but i was too frightened to do anything. Then i heard the footsteps leave her room, then nothing. Our parents were downstairs and we can hear the sound of the door every time they left that room. After half a hour my father came upstairs and my sister shouted him. I was still so scared i couldn't jump out of bed to them. Eventually my parents came into my room with my sister crying and i told them what had happened. My father searched the house and found no one. Its a fairly big old house with old windows upstairs that don't open and they painted shut. You can hear anyone walking up the old staircase plus we have a dog downstairs in the passage way. It can't of been a intruder! There is no way they could get in or escape without being heard or without having to use alot of force to get in or out. They didn't use the steps, plus why would they walk from one room to another with people sleeping, as they could be easily caught. Ive never been as scared in my life and it wasn't a dream or sleep paralysis as i hadn't fallen asleep yet, plus my sister experiencing the same thing. I totally believe that last story.

They feed off fear and destructive, negative thoughts and energy. I've seen them my entire life (I had trauma/ptsd beginning in early childhood), and they still pop up several times a week. If I find myself being pulled down (emotionally- anxiety/fear/depression) too far I make a point to stop, do deep breathing meditation and send loving compassionate thoughts to all beings (Thich Naht Hanh is a wonderful teacher for anyone needing a starting place) and they really do eventually leave you alone. When I was younger I just ignored them/pretended they were figments of my imagination, and that works too, but generally not as well.
I've only had one super notable experience with the hat man and in my experience he is more of a spirit regulator. Like he just posts up in the corner to make sure the others don't get too rowdy or push people too far. (I happened to be pregnant with my twins at the time.) He wouldn't respond to my enquiries and just generally ignored me as a rule, but you could tell that he was incredibly intimidating and didn't take crap off of anyone. He kinda felt like the night watch, lol. I actually felt more calm and reassured when he was there.

I recently stumbled upon this "Bedtime Stories" series looking for something "scary" to watch.... when I saw this episode I couldn't freaking believe it. I'm 48 years old now and still remember what happened to me yeeears ago when I was probably around 12 or 13 years old.....shit, the hairs on my arms are raising up just recalling it, something I never forgot.
I woke up in the middle of the night for whatever reason, I was in the living room which was my bedroom since it was a 1 bedroom apartment and that was my parents... anyway, I looked over to the entryway to the living room and saw a tall shadow figure... very tall, with a hat shape on it's (head?) glaring at me with yellow eyes. It looked like it had on a trenchcoat. I was so freaking scared and shut my eyes tight and waited a few before daring to look again and it was gone. I never saw that exact figure again, but a couple days later I was in school and I remember telling my friends and laughing about it and joking saying that if I ever saw it again that I would do this and that, pretending to be brave. Well, that same freaking night my nephew was sleeping over and he was in bed with me, in the middle of the night I woke up and I swear, I still can't believe it...but right over his sleeping head was just a round shadow face with pointy owl like ears, slanted yellow eyes staring at me.... I threw the covers over my head and shook my poor little nephew awake and by the time he woke up and I looked again, it was gone. And I never in the rest of my life saw anything like that again, but I never forgot it.
On a side note, years later in the same apartment I experienced this phenomenon where I woke up from my sleep and I heard my father in the kitchen washing dishes.... but I couldn't move at all.... nothing....my eyes were open and I could barely look around and hear my dad, but it was like something was pressing down on my chest and I couldn't move.... I tried calling out to my dad for help, and after what felt like forever I was able to first barely whisper for help and then finally as if bursting up from under water I was able to take a deep breath and yell at the top of my lungs for help..... sounds all crazy I know. And ignorant people can leave whatever stupid comments they like, but this shit happened to me for real.
That's why I'm interested in stories like this. I don't believe everything I read of course, but I do believe there's unexplainable stuff out there....we don't know everything.
    That is all

When I was a growing up I remember an incident that shaped my life. Our family was staying in a ratty side of the road motel. It was the middle of the night and I had to go pee. The restrooms were shared on each floor and as I was walking the hallway a shadow person peeked it's head around the corner directly ahead of me. He had no detail whatsoever except for two glowing red eyes and a discernable human shape. I vividly recall it's head leaning around the corner a dragging it's right hand on the wall. It was looking directly at me and I felt true terror when I made eye contact. The fear overwhelmed me and I ran back to the room in fear. My parents said I was seeing things and it was true. I recall there being an increased presence of flying insects in the room after seeing the shadow. I convinced my family to swap to a bigger hotel and as we were leaving I swear I saw a mosquito as big as the palm of my hand resting on a rock with it's abdomen swollen red.
It was not until more than 30 years later that I found out where we stayed was the most haunted hotel on the island of Hawaii.

I have épisode of sleep paralysis since I'm a teenager and I've seen and felt like someone was sitting on my chest and was strangling me. It ressemble what they described being shadow people. Sometimes, I see someone with long hair, sometimes it has a hat, sometimes not. I'm however unable to recognise or to make out his face, or any detail, it's just black. It took me some time to get used, and even then, it's sometimes frightening despite I know exactly what it is.

Actually one of the reasons why these things are not dispelled by skeptics is that they aren't deeply personal, our pets see them as well, and other people have as well, there have been reports by people who never knew their friends were having sleep paralysis in the night who have awoken during a friend's sleep paralysis incident to see shadow people and shadow creatures attacking their friends or loved ones. These reports dispel the notion that these are simply personal artifacts.

I jumped up and saw shadowy hands morphing into the wall. Scarred me for life. I questioned her the next day extensively and she says she has no memory of it. I swear she could not have slept through that.....Still spooks me. I moved out of that place because it was so haunted, I am into Spooky stuff have been all my life but that was a bit too real. Be careful what you play with folks.

I remember a long time ago, when I lived in Germany (had to have been around pre-school age) I was lying in bed lying on my side when I saw a dark head-like shape rise up from the side, as if it were peaking up from the floor. I'd swing my teddy bear trying to hit it, and it'd immediately duck down, only to slowly rise back up. I remember doing this two or three times, though that's all I really remember. Don't remember if I called for mom or hid under my covers or any of that. Just swinging at the shadowy head with my teddy bear.
I'm not saying this is an example of shadow people or anything. I was very young, it happened a long time ago (I'm almost 22 now), it was dark, and really as much as I swear I was awake at the time, it could've been a dream that I'm mis-remembering. Maybe I really did see something in the form of a illusion or some kind of hallucination. I'm just bringing it up because this video reminded me of that.
Other than that, a good video as always. Very spoopy.

This video caught my eye because of a personal out of body experience that I had in my early 20s still living with my parents. Their home resides in a remote area in southern Michigan. The first picture reminds me of my bedroom at the time of this event even though I saw nothing outside the window as the shades were drawn. I fell asleep with some rain sounds on my computer during a cold fall night in Michigan. During this night I experienced a horrifying dream where a shrouded creature hovered in front of my computer and made its way towards me. Unable to speak, I just watched as it slowly made its way towards me paralyzing me with its gaze. I could make out no physical appearance other than its shroud (similar to the picture at 15:18 but with no legs). The darkness emanating from the figure was pure to the point of pulling light out of the room. When it finally was within a foot of my face it spoke in a clear dark malevolent voice that still haunts me to this day. I couldn't see its mouth or facial features as I searched for its eyes, only a sense of darkness as it said in the most sinister low pitched voice "Evil only enters when it is invited". As soon as it finished the sentence, a flash occurred and I was no longer in my body but running towards my own bedroom. Opening my bedroom door, I found the dark figure looking at my body as if it was going to enter or consume it, but I viewed it like a helpless observer. Terrified, I started yelling at it to go away. Right after, I woke up in my dark empty room in tears from it and quickly turned on the lights. I didn't sleep the rest of the night, keeping the light of my bedroom and living room (which was connected to my bedroom) on. I'm an atheist/skeptic that would easily brush off this story as just a dream but it felt more real than anything I've ever experienced. Did it happen? It was probably just a dream, but I will never forget the entire experience. I have never had a dream that felt that real in all my life since.

I had a similar experience. Different entity though. I had fallen asleep. When I awoke I was laying in my bed and I got up. it seemed like the power was out and only the moonlight was coming in through the windows. I lifted my curtains and saw the purple night sky with grey clouds except they weren’t moving. Kinda like time had stopped. Well I was kinda worried so I left my room and in the pitch darkness I went and tried to look for my siblings and parents in their bedrooms. They weren’t there. So I went outside to where my dogs were sleeping at the time. I don’t remember seeing them so I when back inside. My room was past the kitchen across a little hallway to the right was the bathroom, straight ahead was my bed room and to the left was another hallway the lead outside to the front of the house. Well as I was closing the back door I felt a presence and eerie one. As I walked back to my room crossing the kitchen and into the little hallway, I see 3 hooded figures coming to me from my left. The two in the back had their hoody’s on and I couldn’t see their face. The one in the front had his hood on but his face was pale like a corpse. Kinda looked like that guy from Harry Potter. Well he grabbed me by my collar of my shirt and pulled me close to him. I told me something which I still don’t recall. I was frozen with fear till I grew the balls to push him away & ran to my room. Their was my physical body laying in bed and deadass jumped on it. That’s when I woke up and my head was spinning like a mf.

It happened to me when I was little, I'll never forget it... I was playing hide and seek with with my brother and nany. I supposed to look for them so I went up to the attic (which was used as a tv room and other stuff, very big), there was a wood division in the room with approximately 50 cm, to separate the tv room space from the studio part. I swear I saw a shadow standing behind it, that bent down to hide from me. I was sure it was my nany, I said "I saw you! You lose!" but no one anwser, I approached more to catch her, I was so sure...but when I got there, there was nobody, I was completely shocked, I felt very alarmed and scared and runned away from there.

I saw one of these when I was about 10 or so. I remember it being a bad night of sleep with nightmares as I often had but I had been awake for some time, just being scared and lying on my side looking off the side of the bed. Out of nowhere a pitch black silhouette quickly raised up right in front of my field of vision, like it had been lying or kneeling down just below the edge of the bed. I saw its head and shoulders, like it was kneeling in front of me and at that moment I thought it was a slim built man in a ski mask or maybe bald or with a shaved head. It had a bad vibe that felt threatening. It stayed there still for a couple of seconds and then it lunged at me in an aggressive way. I thought it was going to attack me and I seized up, my whole body was tingling but then it froze solid, like "pause" had been hit in a movie. Then the black matter it was made of started to pixellate, almost like black television static, and it gradually dissipated into the air in many little pieces that looked like tiny birds or bats. I didn't see anything like it again after that night.
Fast forward 30 years, my son was 5 at the time. His room is down in the basement - don't worry, finished basement, actually nicer and newer than the levels above. Nonetheless he is down there on his own. Unlike me, he is a very solid sleeper and he has never had problems but one night we woke up to the sound of him absolutely freaking out screaming, just the most god-awful racket I've ever heard out of him. The adrenaline that kicked in was intense and my wife and I almost flew down to his room. When we got there he was pointing up at the ceiling, shaking like a leaf, not saying anything coherent. It took a while to calm him down and we brought him up to bed with us for the night. The next day we got it out of him what had happened. He said he woke up because he was hearing "a buzzing noise". He was looking around his room, at first not seeing anything, but then he started focusing on an area in the corner of his room by his door. He said then that "a black man" rushed FAST out of the corner at first straight toward him, but then it veered off and jumped up on his dresser. He said it kind of sat or kneeled there for a moment, and then jumped up over him and onto the ceiling right over his bed, where it sort of shrank or disappeared up into the ceiling. He said at first he thought it was me at first because it looked like me - a slim, bald man. Man did I get chills when he said that. I haven't told him about my experience because I don't want to scare him worse than he was, maybe when he is older. Glad to say he hasn't seen anything like it since then but Jesus did he scare everyone that night.

I've honestly had my own experiences with shadow people, but almost always when I was either asleep dreaming or half asleep/ half awake taking a nap. In my case there were only two beings I mentally and physical fought. One was male humanlike and bald (I'll call him the abductor) and the other later in life was female humanlike with long hair ( I call her by only one name: The Murderess). Both beings were hostile and in dreams or dreamlike state were physically violent. The Murderess was particularly vicious in trying to choke me to death, and I would fully awake choking and gasping for air, with my neck either hurting or pounding from some tight pressure.
Both beings were eventually defeated. I figured out how to beat the sleep paralysis and fought. The abductor melting away and never returning, and the Murderess calling a truce and speaking a simple message about a family member she is tied to.
In either case, there was a way to fight back. And also a bitter lesson: that while most nightmarish or scary images in our dreams can be terrifying, it is even more troublesome for a dreamlike being or image to actually hurt you and or try to kill you, more than once...

Hey Jason! After some thinking, all while working my butt off over the Memorial Day Weekend, here's what I was able to remember in my encounters:
      1. Over the course of the attacks by the first shadow creature, I began to pay attention more to the surroundings of where I was at during an attack and where I was once I woke up. In every instance, the attacks happened while I was dreaming in bed, and once I came out of that dream, to find myself in bed. Sometimes it will be morning, sometimes during the night.
Making the connection that this entity, in this instance, was making its presence known during a dream state, I did some research in libraries, learning about dream interaction: being a participant in a dream and not a spectator, or a victim.
Going beyond the limits of my physical numbness and letting my inner conscious: my inner spirit into being my arms and legs to fight back with.
It took several months of practice, which each repeated encounter being more successful in kicking, punching, grabbing, and even throwing that thing off of me.
The last encounter being the most amazing in that while my body was heavy and numb physically, my spirit within was able to move out of the bed, grab the shadow person by the neck, shoving it into a nearby closet, where the creature shrank and melted away into nothing.
Waking up from sleep with that kind of triumph not only put my mind at ease, but ever since, that first entity, the "abductor," never came back.
And that experience and the lessons learned proved lifesaving in dealing with the second creature.
I would share more, but I think this comment is long enough.
I hope this helps you and others, Jason. May God bless you and watch over you:)
      Kyle B. USA

I know people will call "bull" on belief in these and my personal story, I can't really argue the point on ephemeral/spirit beings being "real" or not, I can only account for my own personal experiences.
I'm sorry but this will be quite long, it has to be to put forward all the information involved.
When I was really young I'd see an awful lot of strange things, shadow people among them. I'd be told it's just my imagination or a nightmare and go about my life as usual. After a while one particular "being” started to appear quite regularly.
A shadow being that from his silhouette seemed to be wearing a long coat and wide brimmed hat. Sometimes he looked a little different, the hat may have been taller or differently shaped. Sometimes he seemed to be wearing a hooded robe, or I could see long wispy hair blowing. Sometimes his eyes glowed, sometimes they didn't, but it always "felt" like the same being, I just “knew” it was him. Sometimes he'd have a couple of other shadow people with him, but they tended to stand back silently and watch.
Now let me just skip forward a little to adulthood. A few years back I was reminiscing with friends about him, because he was a firm fixture in my life and I did a little research. I found the only similar shadow being stories were about The Hat Man or Shadow Hat Man. And they were all stories of fear, terror and tragedy. Now this really weirded me out and my lifelong friends, because it really wasn't like my experience at all and the stories I'd related to them. In fact in all my research I only found maybe one other persons story that was anything like my own. Now let's return back to childhood...
The first time I saw him I was terrified, who wouldn't be? But the figure held up a hand in a placating manner and put me at ease and we proceeded to talk. This is how it always went with these visitations. I'd get a feeling of unease like being watched, a tinge of fear, then I'd see him and relax and we would converse. I never remembered the content of these conversations. I just knew that we had them. And a feeling of some comfort and knowledge imparting. I remember he felt stern, but amiable. He was actually a source of comfort. I started to tell friends, family and teachers about him, I called him Mr Shade. When asked why I called him that, I just responded, “Because that's his name”.
He would appear and converse with me. Sometimes stood in the corner, or stood beside me. Sometimes sat on the bed or stranger, standing/sitting on the walls/ceiling of my room. I remember being uneasy when he tried to float over me and chat, I'm a little claustrophobic. But any time I felt a little uneasy, he'd back off, if anything he was nothing but respectful.
There were even a few times where something other, would visit, something unfriendly, I'd begin to get really upset and out of the shadowy corner he'd appear, glare at whatever was intruding and drive it away. Then sit and chat again. Or waking from a particularly bad nightmare and he'd appear and sooth me. He gave me a sense of comfort and protection.
It wasn't just night visitations either. There were a few occasions during daytime hours when I'd notice him out of the corner of my eye watching me. Sometimes a couple of shadow buddies in tow. Sometimes just a some shadow people observing, I never really felt nervous about them.
I remember once at Primary (first) School I had to get up in front of the class and give a presentation, I believe it was about steam engines or something, think we were studying the industrial revolution maybe. I was absolutely mortified and nervous, I didn't want to do it and was almost on the verge of tears. Then out of the window I spotted him, across the school playing field by the bushes around the school-ground. He gave a tip of his hat and a reassuring nod, and I was okay, my nerves settled and I gave my presentation.
He came up in conversation enough that he was assumed to be my imaginary friend by many, especially the adults. And many of my friends still remember him, or at least me talking about him. He had such an impact on my life that that is where the second half of my username originates from. I still have pictures I drew of him from when I was a child.
So that's what I find so mystifying about it all now. Because I'm so invested in Mr Shade and in relation Shadow People. I researched Shadow People and Hat Man and ended up reading and hearing all these terrible stories and they're just nothing like my own experience.
He was just kind of a fixture in my life until I hit double-digits, then around early to mid teens. He just stopped appearing. That was it. I know many people can't bear the idea of him appearing to them, but I'd honestly have to say I miss him.
But believe what you want, or have your own opinion on my story. I can only relate what I remember about my experience.

I've had something similar as well. The first time I saw a shadow person I guess we scared eachother and it disappeared.
The second time it was a different one. It also had a hat.
      I was in my bed
And my kitten had somehow got on the bed
      (I was a child)
The kitten kept clawing at my foot and I'd try to move it else where because it hurt.
I was crying but no one was awake so yeah and I didnt want to hurt the kitty.
My blinds were slightly open so moonlight was in the room.
I remember a figure with a hat outline, about 5ft 7in tall. It looked masculine or male. Anyways it picked up my kitten and took it out of my room and closed the door.
It took me a bit to sleep after that because I was kinda shocked not really scared. It didnt really feel bad at all.
The next morning when I woke up. The door was still closed. I asked my family if any of them picked up sonic from my bed and closed the door. Which they were confused and shook their heads no. I had told my grandma what I saw and she thinks that a spirit was helping me. Or that it could have been one of my uncles that died before I was born.

I experienced a shadow person, next to my bed when I was about 10. It was a summer night and me and my sister had dragged out old xmas lights and wrapped her canape bed in them. I like lights, so I slept in her bed that night. The moon outside was full and lit the room through the window, the xmas lights turned off, being it was late at night. But it was another light that woke me, the light from the bathroom in the hallway outside the open door of the bedroom, when it turned on. My mother's bedroom had an attached bathroom, so it wasnt her, but my aunt was staying with us. So I sat up in bed, looking at the opening to the bathroom, unable to see inside, I called out her name, a few times. There was no answer. Suddenly the light went out and I laid back down. That is when I notices the shadow of a little girl, maybe about 8 years old, no features, only the outline and the obvious darkening of the space between me and the brightly moon lit window behind her. I didnt feel fear, I just stared at her for a moment and then closed my eyes. I opened them a few seconds later and she was gone.

I use to see shadows when I was about four . They came into my room at night . This was sixty years ago .I remember at least two at a time maybe more , it was 60 years ago and my earliest memories . I would freeze , terrified . They would walk to the bed and look at me , silently communicating with each other . Sometimes I would feel a splash of water on my face but still did not dare to move . When we moved out of that house , I never seen them again .

I see them quite often from sleep paralysis. It was creepy at first seeing them. As their body's movement was like watching someone lagging in a video game. I've seen up to 3 in my room at a time or wherever my sleep paralysis episodes happen. As I see them more and more I get use to them. As they seem to be the ones troubled by something. I always try to ask them what is wrong or reach out to them but always fail as I cannot move or make a sound. Then my brain will kick in and realize my eyes have popped open sometime during the night while sleeping Causing me to wake up and realize my REM sleep was happening while I was just staring at my room in the dark. Easy fix to the problem, sleep with an eye mask or dark cloth covering your eyes. So if your eyes pop open during sleep you don't see anything. Remember the only monsters in the dark are the same ones in the light, Humans.

I had the paralysis, I realized I was half awake half asleep and had to scream inside my head to snap out of it.
Once I was fully awake everything was back to normal.
It's so strange that so many people see the same exact thing. Of all things a guy with a trench coat and wide brim hat.

Thank you for making another video regarding shadow people. When I was in my 10th year of school. (Sophomore year) I decided to pull back to back to back(3 nights in a row) I had no sleep for three days whilst I pulled my GPA out of the depths of hell. Now after that 3rd night I decided to turn off the lights and lay in bed. I was in bed for about 5-10 minutes then it appeared. The so called Hat Man had manifested in room and he bent down to my bed and I swear his head was inches from my face. I swear to God I almost shit myself, and my heart raced like a thousand beats a minute so fast I can hear my heart beating.
I haven't seen shadow people ever since. Thank you God!
That occurrence was about three years ago. I haven't done research on these shadow people until I had that experience.

Hallucinations of shadow people are almost always caused under cases of either sleep paralysis or severe exhaustion and sleep deprivation, as in your case. I have heard many similar cases of people finally lying in bed to go to sleep after periods of self-inflicted sleep deprivation only to experience similar visual phenomenon. It’s definitely all in the brain, the real question is why the brain sees such things.

He and the kids followed it, but it disappeared. He always described the shadow man wearing a hat, which the part in the beginning scared me not gonna lie, but when it walked, it looked like it was limping as if it was hurt. My dad swears by it. Honestly, I’ve never paid attention to any of these videos. I thought they might be a joke because there seemed to be a convenient lack of evidence supporting some of these stories. But this one creeped me out. I’m almost 30 and I’d say a skeptic. I watch these because I think they’re entertaining stories (based on fiction or here say) but this one was oddly reminiscent of something that happened when I was young. I was around 6 years old,and I always woke up before my parents just as the sun comes up. One morning, I woke up in my bed... the sun was coming softly through the slits in the curtains. When I turned on my back in bed, I saw a shadowy figure of a man standing at the foot of my bed. I thought it was my dad (he always left for work early and I thought he was coming by to say good bye to me before he left for work), however he was standing at the foot of my bed and wasn’t moving despite me saying “hello”. HE DIDNT MOVE. He just watched me. I realised quickly that the figure was NOT my dad. I was petrified and I couldn’t move out of my bed. So I pulled my covers over my head and waited stiffly for my mum to come wake me up to go to work. I told my mother this story weeks later and she said it was a dream. As a skeptic, I’ve tried to rationalise this event. Was it sleep paralysis (despite never suffering from it), was it a nightmare (despite feeling the sheets in my hands and having the distinct feeling of fear stay until my mother came to collect me)? I don’t know... but I feel like I share something with these people... I don’t know

Watching this video has really explained a lot. The second year I loved in my house I was playing with my daughter (just under 2 at the time) and I snapped a picture of her. I don’t have many overhead lights in this old house built in the 60’s. I immediately opened the picture to share it with her grandmother and it wasn’t her I noticed in the picture first. A child (like I mentioned I only have one and she wasn’t yet two) was sitting Indian style under my table peaking out from around the chair/table leg. This terrified me so much that I deleted the photo and stared at the table. Tears rolling down my face in terror. Six years later and the child that’s here has never done anything more that mess with the television while I’m trying to watch it and knocks over my daughters block towers. I was drinking water in the kitchen one night after I put my daughter to bed and the child went running past the kitchen door. There’s also a shadow I’ve seen pacing the hall. When I wash my face in the hall bathroom sink all the hairs on my body stand up and I immediately feel like there’s someone standing beside me watching me. My dogs take off randomly down the hall barking. Even watching this video the shadow is going crazy outside my bedroom door. I’ve never felt threatened by these two. When they become overactive I politely ask them to stop and the activity stops immediately. We just coexist here. Sometimes I think the shadow is the previous owner pacing back and forth making sure we’re safe. Here was one night that I feel I was pulled into a sitting position and woken up from a horrible night terror. Well this is my experience with my shadow “companion”?

All throughout my twenties (I’m 39 now) I had dozens of experiences with the shadow people. Each and every experience was truly terrifying, and the sense of powerlessness is the thing I most remember. They haven’t visited me in a long time, I guess I got lucky in that regard. The most reoccurring instance in my life involved a shadowy woman, featureless facially, but with long hair, almost like it was being wind-blown. She would appear at the foot of my bed, and then sort of float over to the right side of my bed. She would then put her left hand over my face, and let it hover there until I woke up. To this day, I cannot really verbalize the sense of dread that this figure made me feel.

It's weird actually relating to this sort of thing but I've actually seen the Hat Man, it's a bit of a long story.
I don't really remember how old I was exactly but probably around 8, so like 2010. I woke up on the couch in the middle of the night because I had fallen asleep right after supper. To make things worse, I was really scared of the dark as a kid. So I get up and walk to my hallway nervously when all of a sudden I see something at the end of the hallway. I take a split second to focus and realize it's a tall solid black silhouette wearing a fedora and trenchcoat, I freak out and run straight to my parents' bedroom on the other side of the house. They reassured me that I was just seeing things and was probably still waking up. And I believe that myself for a few years.
Later when I was 12, my older sister was talking about ghosts and I suddenly remembered the "shadow guy". I tell my sister about it, putting it off as a hallucination when all of a sudden she gives me a look of surprise. She explains to me that a few years back, during a night when her friend was sleeping over, her friend woke her up claiming to have seen a tall shadow in the doorway (this is at the end of the hall). After this, my sister goes on to talk about how he is called "the Hat Man" and how she's seen shadow figures before. I'm honestly skeptical about her seeing several to this day, but it still is chilling that I and another person saw the Hat Man in the same place in the same year.
Now, this quick story isn't from me but from my band teacher surprisingly, he talked about this time when he had parked his car and got out and noticed a really dark figure in his peripheral. When he turned to look, it looked like it ran around the corner of a building. He decided to investigate and when he went around the corner he came upon a fence and no one to be seen anywhere.
Thinking back on it, I can't remember anything bad happening after my sighting, unlike other people's stories. Because of my experience with Hat Man, I've become more open to peoples claims of witnessing the paranormal. One thing I find interesting about Hat Man, unlike the basic shadow figure, is that only children seem to see him, even if multiple times from the same person. Even self-proclaimed experts in the paranormal are confused by shadow figures but if I had to theorize on what Hat Man is, I'd say he's simply a watcher with no ill intent despite the fear he can strike in us. Maybe he is a guardian angel or a reaper passing by.

I can recall walking to my bedroom as a kid (maybe 7 or 8 years old) and seeing a shadow of a fully grown person sprinting out of my room and down the hall. It wasn't a 3D figure, rather a 2D figure that was seemingly printed onto the wall that bended and warped with features on the wall, like a real shadow would. I was scared, but I tried to take a more badass approach to it by grabbing a clearly fake revolver and putting on my dad's fedora and karate gear to hunt it down. Never found it or saw anything like it again, and I like to thing I scared it away with my threatening 2nd grader gettup. In fact, this video reminded me of an event I had completely forgotten about.

I've seen these entities. One was at an assisted living facility I was working at. All of the residents with dementia were reporting seeing a man in a trenchcoat wearing a top hat. One day I went to the storage building next door and when I opened the door to the pantry, I saw the same thing. Another day I was charting when I caught movement in my peripheral vision. I looked up to see a shadowy figure going into the kitchen. Thinking it was one of the residents who stole cookies, I went into the kitchen and there was no one there.

It's true that something opens the mind with dementia. I was very close to my Gram and took care of her til the end. We Talked daily. At night she said there was a man standing in the backyard. To play along I asked where and she distinctly pointed. I saw nothing. To calm her I installed near prison style lighting back there with motion sensors. For me I got a small dog, installed a color camera and an IR camera but never caught a clue during these episodes. She also was sure a little man by her description a little elf like being would sit at the foot of her bed and talk to her. I should have at least recorded the conversations. The part that gets me is we talked daily and these were common topics that were normal to her. When she died several ghostly things happened during the day and night but that's for another channel... one day the dog was just sitting staring at the wall.

I haven't had many paranormal experiences, but I'm certain I saw a shadowman a few years back. I was walking around my neighborhood with a friend and saw an all black figure sprint across the road about twenty or thirty feet in front of me. I know it couldn't have been a person because it crossed the street in one step, and judging by the buildings next to it it had to have been at least seven or eight feet tall. After I saw it I went down that street to see if it was still there but the whole street was empty. I asked one of my friends a few years later, who was 6'5", to try to see if he could cross my street like that and even at full speed he couldn't replicate what I saw. It still weirds me out.

I have seen shadow people since I was a kid....I have seen the hat man lots of times too.
My experience is completely different to everyone else's though.....I have never had a bad experience with them.
Yes those moments frightened me but not because they were there....it was always a bit of a shock to see them.
I have often felt comforted by these. My daughter has seen them too....and I believe my granddaughter was visited as a baby too.
I know it's totally different from majority of sightings but they have usually shown up in times of personal crises or upheaval and have only ever tried to comfort me.

    • @EmPurple
      @EmPurple ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, they can comfort. I have seen a shadow pass my back wall before, although it was like a blob and fleeting, at first I passed it off as a fly going past the light, but it was moderately big. I wrote a poem that expressed my distress at certain things in life, not long after I felt a gentle tug on my hair but I tried to rationalise that a fly had landed on me. I slowly lowered my hand over my head and I eventually felt the lock of hair being held out at an angle and I could feel the spirit playing with it at the end. It was a shock but I didn’t feel negative vibes, didn’t feel it was evil but that the spirit was letting me know they were there. I gently patted it down because, of course, to my non understanding human brain it felt unnatural, but I am open minded to the fact that we don’t know everything and there is a lot lot more to reality than what we can understand. I prayed to God and felt a hand come down on my shoulder, my instinct made me shrug it off but I wish I hadn’t. I believe this was a good spirit. I know what evil spirits are like from when I was a child, it was terrifying and an evil spirit goes out of their way to terrify you. It always felt very negative, eerie and creepy in my childhood home as well, so that is how I know the difference.

I see a lot of jokes and memes in the comments but this isn't something to laugh about. Not if it's happened to you. Often a sense of unbridled terror that seems disproportionate to the experience accompanies them. I experienced this as a child. One of them, not hat man, but another watched me as I slept. I'd wake up to it sitting on my art desk. Sometimes it would crouch-walk closer to me. A few times it stood over me and there was this pressure in the room. Once the pressure was gone I'd run, screaming and crying, to my Mum. It happened so often and consistently that she'd take me to the doctor eventually to see if they could help, believing it to be physical. We were referred to a psychologist, naturally, and after a few sessions he had me convinced that what I was seeing was a nightmare.
He taught me a visualisation method to fight back against the nightmare, to deny it any power over me. So the next time the shadow person came to me I did just that, I denied it any hold over me, told it that it was imaginary, that it wasn't real and that it could not hurt me. It got angry, though, as I mentally struggled against it and eventually it lunged forward from my art desk and in the process.....knocked my lap over. The sound was heard by my Mum and she came to check, turning on the overhead light. And there I sat, in my bed, where I'd not moved, staring at my desk lamp that lay knocked over in the floor across the room.
We had no indoor pets. No mice or pests. The surface of my desk is flat. The lamp was reasonably heavy. There were no open windows as it was winter. Trust me, I went through all of the rational explanations.
Strangely the act of mentally fighting against it seemed to help even though the advice came from a place of rational disbelief. It wouldn't "attack" me like that any more thereafter. I'd still see it in the peripheral or at a distance. But it seemed to fade after that.

@@Rune_Scholar Interesting. I've been reading trough a lot of these comments, seems like a lot of people have seen them, but apparently not everyone experiences the fear from them, I wonder why. Personally I have experienced the kind of fear you describe in nightmares, extreme terror that is very disproportionate to what is happening in the dream. But obviously a dream can't knock over a lamp. But I find it interesting that this phenomenon is commonly connected to both poltergeist and sleep paralysis. And I've heard before that poltergeist are often connected to children, and I find a lot of the stories in these comments happening during childhood. I once read a theory about children actually causing poltergeist with unconscious telekinesis, possibly due to them not yet having developed mental barriers. There is also an old Norse myth about dark elves, they where known to be the cause of nightmares, people would find them sitting on their chest as they woke up from a nightmare. I have no idea how or if this is all connected, but I find it interesting, especially with the imagery being so consistent. I'd really like to find out if it's created by us, some sort of mental projection combined with telekinesis, or if it was some sort of outside interference, either option would be fascinating. Judging by how common this is there is definitely something weird going on. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Yup, been there, sort of. A couple of years ago my wife and I were sitting watching an episode of 'The Fall' on DVD (disturbing psychological drama set in Northern Ireland and starring Jamie Dornan and, oh the actress who played Scully ). We had the lights down low in the lounge and a table lamp switched on in the hall outside. The door to the lounge is half glass, so we can see out into the hallway. As we were watching the TV, out of the corners of our eyes we saw a dark shadow pass over the door as if someone had walked past the lamp in the hall casting a shadow across the door. No shape or form just a darkening of the doorway for a second or two. It really freaked us out, particularly given what we were watching, and we both asked if the other had 'seen that?' then paused the DVD and searched the house from top to bottom. Found nothing of course! We eventually persuaded each other that we were safe and went back to watching our programme, but we have never been able to explain what we saw and we both still shudder when we remind each other of it. Never happened since, thankfully!

My parents have a very close friend that is a psychic. Some months ago she was explaining to me how to do astral projection and lucid dreams, which is basically where you while dreaming, can "project" your soul out of your body and travel the world, visit other places, and even interact with other astral projectors.
The whole concept was really interesting, so much so that I told her I would like to experience it and asked her if I could do it alone on my own. She told me that yes, I could, but people doing astral projections for the first time should be accompanied by some "supervisor" because, and I quote, "when you do astral projections you're crossing into the realm of the shadow people, nameless entities that exist all around us, but we just can't see them". She warned me that, if I ever try to do astral projection, I shouldn't be surprised to see several of them staring back at me, at the foot of my bed. And that whatever I do, I shouldn't interact with them, because they're dangerous.

I went to Veracruz, Mexico on a spiritual journey. I wanted to know if life is just money and superficial. Sparing all the small details... I laid on a bed and the Spiritual Doctor put crystals on me. It felt like I was awake as I could hear cars going by, etc. I followed her instructions to breath, blank mind, very yoga theme. After some time I felt like I was standing/ floating in a dark place. The atmosphere was like comfortable dark waves. As if swimming under water in a churning ocean on a moonless night. I saw two beings in color and I got physically very cold. One was me coming up behind me. I thought this is BS as I'm just dreaming about myself but I couldn't make out the third guy also approaching from my left. I was expecting to trip out and fly or something. I made myself take deeeep breaths and opened my eyes. 2.5 hours passed that seemed like 20 minutes. Her prime warning is it's easy to get lost and beings will try to hold you there. My wife tried it and didn't believe either. She opened her eyes, looked back and she as a spirit was floating above her own body about 4-5 feet. We didn't drink or consume anything beforehand to remain objective. There is some other place there but it's not paradise.

I see the comments have a lot of fun joking comments but this one hits home with me!
I suffer from sleep paralysis, have done for years and I always see a shadow person when it happens, although the one I see doesn’t wear a hat, but all I know is that when the sleep paralysis happens, it’s a horrendous, terrifying experience that makes me not want to try and go back to sleep after it happens, I have always dreaded it happening as Every time I see the shadow person, I always have an overwhelming feeling of fear, dread, doom and whatever it is in the room with me causing these feelings I also feel that it’s EVIL! No good feelings ever come during the experience only the worst feelings you can imagine !
Even now, watching this video and commenting on it fills me with fear especially when the video shows exactly what I see! All I know is that I have seen them, whether it’s the shadow person causing the feelings and paralysis or the sleep paralysis causing the feelings and me seeing the shadows I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ but hopefully the time comes that I no longer see/experience them!
Anyway sorry for rambling and I hope whoever reads this doesn’t go through this and sleeps well 🖤☮️💟🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I remember 2 years ago something a bit similar has happened to me. I was renting a duplex at the time and always had that feeling that something wasn't quite right, but I couldn't point out exactly what. That weird feeling when you don't like getting back home, you just don't feel you want to be there, even tho nothing was seemingly wrong with the place. One summer night I was watching a tv in a living room and I was very much into the show when I felt sudden chill, all of a sudden I got anxious, I knew something bad was about to happen, I didn't know what, I felt terrified, there was something in the house, and someone was watching me. I have not seen anything, or anyone, but that horryfing feeling of helplessness got me scared to the bones, I couldn't hide, felt like I couldn't run away. I just sat there, stoned and waiting something to happen, for about 5 minutes later I gained a courage and left the house. Spent night over with my friend, I didn't tell her anything. I left that house pretty soon afterwards. However I've never seen any ghostly apparitions.

i had an experience with shadow people i will never forget.
i came home from a night out, heavily intoxicated and drunk. it would've been very early in the morning as i had to get the first train from the city back to my hometown. once i got into the house, my family were either asleep or at work. i realised how drunk i was and thought it best to sober myself up before i went to bed. i quickly washed myself at the sink, taking off all of my makeup and brushing my hair. before i passed out from exhaustion, i drank as much water as i could and left a glass at the bedside table. eventually, i went to bed.
i was more sober than before, but still considered drunk. i was tossing and turning and i dismissed it as just the alcohol fucking with my brain. that was until i lay on my back and stared at the ceiling.
there was a black hue coming from my bottom vision. i rubbed my eyes thinking it was a blindspot, but i kept seeing it. i looked down to get a closer look and there was,a black figure standing at the edge of my bed. not only that, but there was a second figure, standing by my bedroom door. i began panicking, not really knowing what the think of it. the shadow person at the end of my bed began pacing, walking along my bed and along the side. each time it paced it tried to get closer to me, as if trying to get a good look of me. at this point i hid under my duvet; i assumed it was because i was intoxicated, but it was way too vivid. once i looked to see if they were gone; the shadow person's outline of its head was so close to my face, all i could see was darkness.
at this point i was losing my mind. i began saying stuff along the lines of "please leave, you are scaring me." once i admitted my fear, the shadow people stood still. they stood side by side, almost as if converting, or staring at me, idk. but eventually, the two shadows went back to what they were doing. the one pacing my bed began doing so, but it kept its distance; i weirdly began to find it comforting. the other, standing by the door, continued to stand there and not move a muscle.
the one pacing my bed, i believe to be some sort of guardian. but the other, i am not so sure. one seemed to be the brains of the duo and the other the strength. who knows what they were, maybe my intoxicated mind made it all up. but it was waaaay too vivid; i'll remember it for the rest of my life.

I'm 35 years old now. I was about 5 at the time it happened to me and in the same house I am living in now. I vividly remember waking up in a large open room we have with only a single small light being on the far-left side of the room. I remember looking straight across the right side of the room and seeing black figure(s) walking in what appeared to be circles or maybe just back and forth pacing. It seemed like there was more than one. Their shape was tall, and to me looked like they were wearing a trench coat with the collars popped up and I remember there being a shape of a hat. Their head(s) were tilted down as if they were looking at the floor in front of them as they walked with a brisk pace. They just kept passing in that manner with a sort of march to their step. If they weren't pacing back and forth then, I don't think they were circling me, but maybe their own self-contained circle. I remember just staring at them and being terrified. I feel like I may have been quietly crying the whole time as well. They were vividly pitch black in their appearance. I could see lighter shades of everything around them from the small light source (candlelight intensity) on the far-left wall, but they were pitch black still which is what made them stick out so much. I don't believe I've ever seen them again.
*Edit:* Reading some of these comments, some are saying he visits when there's a death looming or there is trauma in the household. I wasn't aware of anyone dying in our extended family when he woke me, but I was young (and kept from meeting my relatives) so who knows. But I was beaten, locked in my closet overnight, thrown down stairs, and my older sister molested me when I was 5 to just name a few issues in the house. So, it's possible there's a link, I guess. It wasn't like he was there to soothe me though. Just kind of rubbed salt on the wounds I had by terrifying me further. I don't remember very much of my childhood as it's just a black emptiness in my memory except for a handful of times and those memories are of mostly abuse. And also, this memory of the Hat Man.
Maybe that is what he was doing? Maybe he was altering my ability to retain memories for a few years. My ability to remember pretty much anything was near nonexistent until my high school years. I even remember how suddenly one day I was able to remember things vastly better from one day to the next. It was really weird.

I've had a crazy experience like this, it taught me a lot.
The nature of a experience, despite taking place before your very eyes, can be so strange you're unable to accept it.
Consequently, this is when I understood something else: our beliefs, the ones which reside in shades of gray, and yet somehow also DEFINE US, aren't always selected by logic. Rather, it's about what you're willing to accept.
How far are you willing to go? Once you accept A SINGLE THING outside the material world or five senses, the door comes off the hinges.
