As an OG’er…the glow in your eyes heading back to the classroom is so very heartwarming. I am so very excited for you and grateful that you are taking us all on it with you. ❤❤❤✏️✏️✏️✏️
Can’t wait for your setup videos!!! I love how you talk through everything!! That helps me compare what you are doing with what I do, I can then incorporate the best of both worlds! So happy to have you back in the classroom…😊❤
You might want to consider putting the double-sided bookcase between your teacher's desk and your small group area because it's blocking your view of that corner and one of your windows. Love the amount of storage space. Can't wait to see what you do with the student desks. Better Than Paper Bulletin Board Roll while not cheap is a great alternative to felt for your bulletin board. It comes in many designs so it is worth it. I too moved and left for a little while. The experience of returning to the classroom was amazing!. The return brings so much clarity. Take your time. Enjoy each and every moment of it.
Well Michelle, I for one cannot wait for the ride to start. You are at the very least among the first teachers on here to show me what is going on inside the classroom from "the teacher's desk" if you will and I cannot wait to see this classroom come together and you do what you do best and this time hopefully get and stay supported for it and not be backstabbed. The Queen of Teachers is back on the throne !! - Dwight
Yay! 🎉 I’m so happy for you! You are glowing! I can’t wait to see it all come together! I’m curious to see what you keep from previous rooms and what you change!
I'm currently setting up my classroom as well...that being said, I'm looking forward to watching your classroom setup for ideas and motivation 😊so glad you're back!! Thanks for vlogging your return to the classroom! Love your videos ❤
Happy Tuesday, Michelle! Yay for your empty classroom vlog! I am so excited to see your process of starting with a blank canvas and setting up your room. I just went into my new classroom yesterday and started setting up. It has been so enjoyable so far. I agree with you that it is a process and your plan may change throughout, but it all comes together in the end. Best of luck as you set up. I can't wait to see the next video! 💜
My brain immediately went out that small square table by the door and make it a check in/out place. It can be where students or families get handouts or anything they need. I'd also add hand sanitizer and a cup or pencils so students have independence and can use germ x when they return from the restroom or somewhere 😂 (covid got me y'all). That's what I see many teachers do at my school and it's so cute, but still practical. I'm so excited for you! Have fun and it's fine to have a clean slate. You can revamp your style now that you've had experience! Yay!
I’m so excited to watch you figure it all out and work through it! So excited for all the new classroom vlogs!! I’m calling this Pocketful of Primary Season 3!
How exciting! I can't wait to see what you do with it. I've begun this process with my own classroom. The unexpected double sided shelf is a nice surprise!
It's a great room! Modern! Love the cubbies for the kids. Drinking fountain too! A lot of potential! Have fun settling in and making it your home away from home!
Aww, this is making me emotional. I watched you since ive been a little happy girl, all the way through my dark high school years and now aw a happy young woman❤ i used to rewatch your teaching vlogs so much, im sooo happy to see this!!!
Can’t wait to see the final room setup - so exciting! Thanks for taking us along on your journey. I get giddy when I see a new video has dropped. -Kristen
I love how there are backpack hooks under the student cubbies and the double sided book shelf! Congratulations and welcome back to the classroom! You’re going to do great! ❤
So excited to see it come together! I am going into my second year of teaching 3rd grade and I will also be at a new school in a new classroom that I'll need to set up! Seeing your room is getting me so excited to go see mine soon!!!
Love your room! Nice storage and size! Looking forward to your set up videos. I’m a third grade teacher. Going in tomorrow to finish my room. We’re on the clock starting Friday‼️‼️love your enthusiasm!
One drawer in my filing cabinet is used for treasure items for rewards, class helpers, and etc. i put positive quotes on the side in plastic pockets with magnet strips on the back, one drawer is snacks in a sterlite container, one drawer is for items for the calm corner fidgets, flash cards, sensory bottles, and etc), and I have a drawer with all kinds if essentials close at hand (lotion, kleenex, gloves, wipes, hygiene suff, a mirror, and more). I put contact paper inside to make the bottom beautiful. The bottom drawer is my cardstock or copy paper stash.
I'm so looking forward to your classroom set up videos. I'm teaching in England and although UK teachers do bring in a lot of their own stuff from home, I can't imagine starting with a classroom that didn't already have any resources in it.
Thanks for the share! This looks like a newer school...recently built. Do they not include closets anymore? I am teaching in a one year old school. We have no closets. We have two large cabinets, a bookshelf, and two rolling storage carts. I've taught at schools where the closets were HUGE! They had nice shelves in them as well. Miss those! I had to PURGE sooooooo much because I simply did not have the space. I can't wait to see the transformation of this room. ~diane
I am about to start empty classroom set up number 7 in 11 years. I have been junior high for the past 10 years and moving to 3rd Grade for the first time. I have ideas, but still nervous on the set up and purge of materials not needed. I can not wait to see the set up and ideas that it adds to my room.
Your room is so nice!!! Lots of storage!! Do not buy the holder pieces for the shelving. Talk to your building custodians/maintenance first because they usually have some.
Hi, I just wanted to mention something about your flat panel. It might be a good idea to consider placing it in a corner since it's on wheels. This will help keep it out of the way and reduce the risk of tripping hazards as they’ve been known to be a big problem. In some more serious cases it’s caused the board to somehow fall completely. I believe In the UK, it's now illegal to have these boards on wheels in an educational setting because of this reason so they need to be installed on a wall over there, I'm not sure if the same rule applies in the US I don’t think it does, but it's better to be safer than sorry, especially around small children.
I’m so glad to see your joy for this new chapter of your life! That will make such a difference in your classroom! I know this from my 34 years in my own classroom! I’ve been with you since the days with “Knuckles”, and I know you will be such a blessing to the students you will have this year!!! I’m excited to take this journey with you!
I'll be following along all the way. I'll be having 2 classrooms this years I will teach year 1 and 4🤦♀️. So new classroom for year 4 as I've been teaching 1 for 8 years. HELP!!
When do the children come back? It should be criminal for teachers to start preparing in July if you don't start until September. And yes I'm exaggerating but you need your rest.
@PocketfulofPrimary ah sorry that is perfectly reasonable then. Why do your kids go back so early. I thought September was standard in all western countries
As an OG’er…the glow in your eyes heading back to the classroom is so very heartwarming. I am so very excited for you and grateful that you are taking us all on it with you. ❤❤❤✏️✏️✏️✏️
You inherited a clean slate. This is so great that you don’t have to deal with a lot of trash.
So happy the previous teacher left the room practically empty!
Can’t wait for your setup videos!!! I love how you talk through everything!! That helps me compare what you are doing with what I do, I can then incorporate the best of both worlds! So happy to have you back in the classroom…😊❤

When do the children come back? It should be criminal for teachers to start preparing in July if you don't start until September.
And yes I'm exaggerating but you need your rest.
Teachers start back on August 5th and students start back on August 13th!
