"worst car ever made" is a bit harsh. it wouldn't have been out of place in the west when it was first produced. the reason it's reputation is so bad is that they literally never changed it for 40 years.

Here's an interesting thought. A Trabi with a full tank of gas, and a 4 gallon premix in the trunk, can drive further then any Tesla currently made. Not bad for the worst car ever made.

And a set of spark plugs. And a spare belt or two. And a toolbox. And an alternator.
Don't get me wrong, I love Trabants (and Teslas), but you're comparing apples and oranges.

@@rouchar True, the only thing better than a car that's easy to work on, is one you don't have to. My comparison is exclusively just range, with Tesla being the most popular electric brand. Fun thing I learned about Trabant alternators, they're a standard old Bosch type, only weird thing about them is the mounting and graphite slip ring for the brushes. As for the generators/dynamo... Might want to carry a spare :p

0:44 - "But of course this electric version has a couple of practical benefits." - Seems like a correct translation
0:47 - "Cryptocoins practice of hotel limit isn't Electro entry" - Fairly certain this is not a correct translation

Hardly a bad car, it was cheap, DDR made much more expensive cars, and shortages? LOL, the 10 year waiting time I keep hearing it but people who actually lived in DDR longer than 2 months as a baby, can attest the wait time was more like 1 year, but I guess if you add an extra 0 it will sound more villainous.
But hey, lest we forget 70% of the DDR people became unemployed for 3 years after fall of Socialism and lost 96% of their entire economy to foreigners, nothing disgusts me more when you bring politics into a video about a car and then forge history into something else, but this is DW for you, all people who work at DW are too young to even remember days of PlayStation 2 release, so it is no surprise to me we get such snarky comments about a cheap reliable car and a country that built itself up from ruins while west Germany enjoyed endless support.
