Yep. I am more interested in seeing how this defense progresses - there's no doubt the offense will get better and better - but I am so excited about our defense this year - this is the best defense that we have had since 2016 - I am a defensive guy, so I can live with a 17-10 game and 3 yards and a cloud of dust on offense - but this is about to be a special season - we did not FINISH last year but we will this year

Bama absolutely got conservative in the second half, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They stopped bringing pressure, stopped stunting, and dropped to zone for the majority of the half. They were blitzing, rushing six, seven folks sometimes, and manning up on the perimeter in the first. Offensively, they got stuck trying to look like they were still being aggressive while not actually keeping their foot on the gas.

We can always look at it through the lens of a fan. It was more about coaching and adjustments, Quite frank, Milroe runs on the perimeters were shut down the second half. Just like I’m sure that if we played them again next week, it would be a completely different game. They wouldn’t be able to throw the back shoulder fade and we wouldn’t be able to attack the perimeter as much. The coaches just had a much better game plan than the Georgia coaches. Once the Georgia coaches realized that they could keep their linebackers inside all game, They started Moving men out, And having the DB and safety keep an eye on Milroe and shut down the perimeter run game. So just because you’re beating a team big and where you’re losing big doesn’t necessarily mean your players are better. It could mean that the coaches of it are just calling a better game plan. In the game like this where the talents is pretty even it’s a better game plan, buddy

I agree that they got much tighter on the edges. Idk why they didn't keep attacking the middle with the TE's and dump offs to the RB's. They were giving up that all first half because of the Milroe/Williams threat. I also noticed they put a spy on him also. Take what the defense gives you and burn clock more efficiently. I noticed they were snapping the ball with sometimes 19 seconds left like come on?

The problem is Bama always has a better coach & a higher standard than everyone else, including Georgia. This bleeds out in they only bring in the most elite QBs & WRs and other positions. Kirby stated before, "We will hunt, and not be hunted". That sounds great, but when other programs have a higher level of excellence in every facet - defense and offense- you'll be hunted like you did against Bama, and dare I say Kentucky. As Georgia has allowed its offense to be an area where championship-level excellence is not being met, the past 2 years from coordinators to players/personnel has been declining. Would this be allowed at Bama. I think not. Read below....
Kirby is a great coach. But Bama has always been a forward-thinking program that is championship-minded or bust mentality. They demand their coaches to dominate and be great, or they don't hire them, and if their head coach even has a bad game or two (they're all over them and the coordinators). A bad coordinator doesn't last more than a season at Bam; he has to produce and dominate each gamee. At UGA winning is enough. If that is our standard, then you'll never be at our above Bama's level.
When they hired Nick & DeBoer, they went out and said, what coach out there wins the most championships, and dominates other teams. Also, Deboer & Saban (prior to Bama) consistently takes less talent at lesser programs and dominates teams at their level and above. Nick and Kaleen both did that. Kirby was an experiment based on the Bama dynasty. Yes he a great coach. Yes, he the best coach Ga has ever had. Is he IMO a legendary college football coach, No. He is more on par with Dabo Sweeney than Nick Saban. I argue that Kaleen's ceiling is much higher than Kirby's. Kaleen is 6-0 against Sarkisian, Lanning, and Kirby. He also dominated teams at Washington, with much less talented rosters, as mentioned above.
So, what can be done at GA? Well, since I'm just a TH-cam poster, it means nothing. But as a former player/coach. Kirby will not listen to anyone but maybe a few people in his circles, and the AD being one of them. He needs an advisor on his offense, and I'm not a Bobo basher, but Bobo needs to catch up on his offensive concepts and style of play. Bobo, should be an OC at Furman, Ga Southern or move on as the game has passed him by. He is only at UGA due to his ties in recruiting, being a Ga player and being a friend of Kirby.
Kaleen will take Bama where Nick was falling off; his innovation and killer instincts to dominate are at another level compared to Saban/Kirby. He is also going to bring in innovative coordinators, the best that is out there. There are a lot of coaches/coordinators at smaller programs that can outcoach big-name coaches. Kaleen will bring in these guys. The problem is Kaleen is only going to get better, he just beat Kirby with his established program, and this will be the most down Kaleen is (regardless if he has Milroe or not). So why Kirby is mired down and determined to beat a square peg into a round hole? I'm afraid he is sabotaging himself and the program by not doing a Nick Saban/Alabama and saying, "What changes do/did they Bama/Oh State make on offense and as a staff to be #1" you can learn a lot from your competition, especially one that is considered a dynasty nobody can catch. Harbaugh did it and won a championship, he built his D like Ga and combined that with a great OC and succeeded.
As a GA fan to beat the Bama drum: The greatest difference between Bama and UGA is because their AD, boosters and fanbase, would not allow even mediocrity from game to game. You can bet if they had a few games on offense like UGA has had (they would already be demanding change). It might not be fair or reasonable, but it explains why Bama has created a standard of excellence that UGA is afraid to enforce. Because we're more scared of losing than constantly creating an environment that demands excellence and winning. It's like going to war against your most significant enemy each year, and you continuously sit back. He annihilates you every time by getting the best fighters at critical spots and running better offensive and defensive maneuvers, and you keep trying to do the same thing and wonder why you can beat them. This is precisely the UGA problem; we need our standard raised, and we need to have the right resources to get it done (coordinators/players personnel). Kirby can be our great leader (maybe the two championships is all we get with him, and maybe 9-11 win seasons from here on out), but unless he gets the right talent around him (coordinators/players), I would argue offensive coordinator we're never going to get where we were and stay there. The problem is that UGA has a don't lose mentality, and a post like this is overreacting, but at Bama, it is a normal sentiment. Therefore, everyone demands and holds everyone accountable to that standard from week to week, not just every few years, once things start declining.
It burns me to say, but when I see the Bama slogan/creed "Where Legends Are Made" all over Bama ,it lets me know they have a higher standard than GA. Bama is willing to publicize and hold their coaches accountable to this standard on a much shorter leash (namely, you perform and dominate this season, or you are out, even coordinators and assistant coaches). Unreasonable, maybe. Does it work. ..Yes! Is Kirby willing to make the changes necessary on a shorter leash with a friend in Mike Bobo, or with anyone on the staff to make us legendary? If not, who will demand we take the next step at UGA and hold Kirby accountable to the same standard he would be held to if he were the coach at Bama? Until we do, we don't deserve to have expectations like Bama.

Here's the thing; Georgia made masterful adjustments at the half. Then Bama couldn't adjust to the adjustments. To me, Bama knew Georgia would be ready for the long ball & the standard run game, so they came out doing something different. But Bama's adjustment should've been, as soon as Georgia started stopping what Bama was doing to start the game, Bama should've immediately started going downfield. Should've taken more downfield shots by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Georgia could of scored on the last possession if beck through a better ball so Georgia’s offense was definitely moving the ball on bama’s defense in the second half once they found confidence. Georgia adjusted to Bama’s offense by taking away the edges so Milroe couldn’t run which means he has to throw and Milroe only really made one down field throw that won the game the entire second half. Beck literally had to throw Georgia back into the game while also making mistakes. I think the fact that Beck was able to keep that kind of confidence in his arm in a game he made so many mistakes in was interesting. If Milroe would of thrown 3 picks we all know Jalen wouldn’t of been trying to throw anything lol so these conservative narratives are funny to me. All Milroe could do once the run game was taken away was pass deep to Williams or to the tight end and Georgia was pretty much there on every catch in the second half. Wasn’t no damn conservative play calling 😂

Georgia will figure that out and make you do something different next go round. Let’s do a thought experiment here. This is the definition of wishful thinking. Georgia came inches away from giving Alabama the ball on the 30-yard line going in while already up 30-7. If that happens, it’s a complete drumming. That’s how close Georgia was to the blowout extending far beyond 2.5 quarters.
If Georgia would’ve won, you wouldn’t be saying “hold your horses, guys… we’ve got two more games before anything will be decided. We can’t say anything to them yet.” You just want everyone to wait in hopes that you don’t have to hear it until your team gets another shot. That’s not how this works, and you know it.
