FACTS! People like to tell Chuck he don't have a ring but what they fail to mention is, he took his team to the finals as the MVP of the league and lost to the GOAT who left many HOF without a ring.
Yeah lets forget what KD did for the Thunder and all the years he put in. Chuck also left to another team after failing to get a ring there and failed at the other stops. KD is infinitely more successful than Chuck was ever in the league and we dont like to talk about that.
I still wish more people would mention how big an impact the subtraction of KD from their Western Conference opponents made the playoffs much easier for the Warriors. Before the Warriors had to compete with the Thunder and the Spurs who were both incredibly great teams in 2016. In 2017 there was no competition. KD didn't make the Warriors better, but not having to face KD in the playoffs made things easy for the Warriors. They would have won those 2 championships if they had simply paid KD to go play in China or something...
It's crazy that when you really look back at that golden state run with KD, you realize that it was Steph getting doubled and drawing most of the attention. That allowed KD to just unleash, especially with Klay out there s a major threat too. This is why it's ridiculous to hear KD talk about how hard it is to play with stars when it literally allowed him to play with the least resistance he's ever faced.
until kd wins a ring without steph, steph is above kd on the all-time list, and if steph wins another one and his long overdue fmvp this year, it's over.

Kenny won the FIBA World Championship in 1986 against the Soviet Union with a healthy and young Arvidas Sabonis.. and Kenny was riding the Bus. Most Basketball fans do not remember, but I do.
Basketball is a team game. Big shot rob and kenny both spread the court with their high-percentage shot selection. Both players solid defense not getting into foul trouble like charles. Charles barkley got bashed by scottie pippen for hitting players instead of playing defense, taking too many low percentage shots, nor treating the game like a team game. Different mentality and the bus driver analogy is not accurate for basketball. Kenny's right, Horry is the forgotten hall of famer because too many people think the superstar gospel is truth. Making flashy low percentage shots and still losing isn't the team game that basketball is to most people. I would take Smith/Horry over any team charles barkley was on.

Charles Barkley scored 44 points and 24 rebounds on Game 7 against Shawn Kemp and the Sonics in the Western Conference Finals to lift the Suns into the Finals against the Bulls. Barkley was the MVP and played like and MVP when needed. So Chuck is 100% knows what he's talking about as the bus driver. Chuck is real funny and goofs around but when he's having a serious basketball talk, he's ON POINT. If not for Michael Jordan (who Barkley admitted to playing in the Finals so well he actually told his daughter "he's actually the first player that might be better than me") and the Championship Bulls, I believe that Barkley would have one ring.

If I'm not mistaken, that was the '93 finals where the Suns lost the final game against Chicago 98-99. Barkley drove the bus that far. One score away from holding a trophy. I definitely buy what he was saying here.
@@dbsti3006 It was not the final game. It was game 6 of that Finals. Yes the Suns lost that game 99-98 but that's because Paxson hit a 3 to win it. If the Suns had won that game the series is tied 3-3 and they have to beat Jordan in a game 7.
He averaged 6.3 points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 11 games in the NBA Finals in his career. If he was hurt by that statement, then he has some issues to resolve with himself
On the other hand, at least guys like Kenny came over when the bus was parked and needed to be fixed up, helped fix it up, took some trips to the store for groceries for the road, packed things for the trip and all that. Someone like KD just literally hopped on the bus when it was already fully stocked, kicked his shoes off and got comfortable and popped open a soda
I don't know if I agree with that statement, because he was a supporting other, not a franchise player looking for fame or to extend his own personal legacy.
Love him or hate him, Chuck speaks the truth. "you don't join a 73 win team and talk your the best player" Let's remember the Warriors were Champion before Durant got there and they broke records also. Durant is a luxury for a team not a necessity like the Splash bros are to the Warriors.
@BallersKingdom A “role player” typically comes off the bench, though. Starters are never referred to as such. But, I get it: piling on Kenny Smith online is a popular thing for the sheep.
Finally someone said it. Curry was the best player. Still is. Players and coaches know it. That's why Curry was game planned for and not Durant. Those were Durants most efficient years.
Curry was not better than Durant. Curry is my favorite player but when it matters the most, he plays good but not great. That's why he has not won a finals MVP. I see guys like Jokic, Giannis, Durant and Lebron dominating the game putting up triple doubles or near triple doubles and being efficient while Curry puts up the scoring numbers on 40% shooting.
People only talk about curry's offense. Yes he's great but he's a huge liability of defense. Now that both KD and curry are older, I would even more take KD over curry. It's not even a contest
Kenny shouldn't be offended, he cleary had a supporting roll on those Hakeem led rocket teams. Nobody expected him to be or viewed Kenny as the leader.
I always respect 🙌 the True Super Stars like Patrick Ewing Allen Iverson Charles Barkley Dominique Wilkins Karl Malone. The guys that stayed True and go ring chasing in their primes. Im not talking about their last 2 years when they were old. Those guys have more respect than guys who bus ride to championships. Because they built something and it took the greatest players to beat them
They would never have him if he would have never won a ring. Chuck and Shaq’s analyses keep proving why they were PERFECT for these jobs. Some guys can play very well but couldn’t tell you why. These two really dissect the game from the inside and outside point of views. They joke around a lot, but they can get serious and break down a play with surgical precision. Shaq and Chuck both can articulate perfectly why a play didn’t go down; why a team came out on top; why the coach’s style of leadership is important. They weren’t just playing ball all those years. Both their moms should be very proud.
Surgical precision? 😆 Chuck and Shaq are dumb as they come. The fact that you and many others respect their game analysis illustrates the failure of our education system.
Chuck is a smart dude but I don’t understand this logic. I mean Kd and kyrie together are losing 0-3 and Trae has 1 win without an elite co-star. I mean Trae young has more playoff series wins than luka and more points than assists than anyone in the league this year, and Zion when he’s healthy chunk considered a “star”

Slightly disagree. Kenny Smith was a key part of those two championship teams in Houston. He was not the bus rider but he was definitely helping to keep the bus in order. He knocked down some clutch 3s (42% regular season; 44% in the playoffs) and had some big games during those championship runs.
So important that he got benched for a rookie during 4th quarter play for the most part of those runs. He did have that one big game against Shaquille’s magic. Game 1. Hit 7 3’s and the most important one was to tie the game. I’ll will give him that. That and Anderson missing 4 straight free throws demoralized magic’s swag. After that magic never recovered
@@don8668 Let's be honest. You could of traded Kenny with just about ANY other player in his position, at that time, and that Houston Rockets team was still winning those rings, LOL!
I don’t think that’s what Barkley meant by “bus rider”. Kenny didn’t join a good team who was already winning rings, then claimed he was the best. There’s no reason for Kenny to take offense. There is one “bus driver” per team (if that). Not everyone can be it.

I’ve been thinking this for a while and seeing comments about it but man, I’m going to miss chuck when he’s gone. Nobody can give these kind of takes and deliver them the way he does with his unique character and experience. Love these guys! I’ll enjoy it while it last!
Bus riders giving directions. That's hilarious. Kenny was getting salty there.
Kenny definitely was a backseat bus rider, Chuck hurt his feelings 😂
Slightly disagree. Kenny Smith was a key part of those two championship teams in Houston. He was not the bus rider but he was definitely helping to keep the bus in order. He knocked down some clutch 3s (42% regular season; 44% in the playoffs) and had some big games during those championship runs.
@@don8668 he was by no means an important roll in those championships. He averaged 6.3 points and 3.5 assists in the finals for 94-95
So important that he got benched for a rookie during 4th quarter play for the most part of those runs.
Chuck absolutely on 🔥 in this clip and Shaq is smart enough to know it while he's loving every bit of Chuck's performance. Great clip 💯. One of a kind chuckster!
LOL Kenny sitting there like "I'm right next to you man" lol
Chuck was talking about stars who join a winning team. Not about role players on a winning team
@@jayhamster11 he was also talking about role players.
@@jayhamster11 chuck talking about all role players. U confused or something
He was talking about bench riders bragging about rings, that's not Kenny Smith who started for a Houston team that went back to back.
@@meatyp09 no he's not he's talking about role players players that play off superstars
Kenny took that bus riders comment personal lol
Of course
The truth hurts
@@theetruth8626 Yep, he went to speak up because he felt he had to, but really didn't have a defense for it...because he WAS a bus rider.
He played the same or more minutes in both his Finals and averaged considerably LESS points. He disappeared.
@@SealofPerfection Kevin Durant can't win Without Steph
KD had 3 HOF players on his team who were all in their PRIME. His championships and FMVP’s are an accomplishment, no doubt, but those rings will never hold the same value as other superstar players’ rings like Giannis, who did it the right way and stuck out in a small market franchise without teaming up with superstar caliber players. Giannis is already above KD all-time in my list.
Then you can say the same thing about Lebron joining Wade and the Heat who had already won a chip before he got there...
Yah how much i love KD in GSW his legacy was being demoted.
@@jamesrobinson1557 dumbest comment i've seen in a while. Miami won that ring in 06, lebron got there in 2011, between that time the heat weren't anywhere near championship contention. Before KD joined the warriors, they won a ring and were seconds away from going back-to-back.
@@RickyTanTriads dumbest comment ive seen in a while. The heat aqcuirred bosh who was a multi all star and was in his prime while having dwayne wade who just came off a 30 ppg season seems like superteam to me
Yeah but bron went back to cavs n won
Imagine being a “specialist” in basketball (Kenny) and not being able know that curry was clearly the best player on the warriors when snake jumped on his bus. SMH 🤦🏻♂️
Kd is going to be in his feelings when he hears chucks comments
As he should, cuz hes been playing really bad. 11 shots total 45min game 3 🤣
He going to need a mental health break like ben simmons now!
STOP ✋ DAT!!
KD going to be in his feelings on the daily after losing this series against the Celtics. Dude was all-time epic fail in this one.
It will be a good motivation for KD though 🤣
But still doubtful that they'll be able to get make it a series 🤣
After they lose i bet kd n kyrie press conference going to be SALTY!! They going to act careless and have so many excuses
Kenny tried realllllly hard there😄. He thought hard while Chuck spoke, then stuttered and paused through his own speech.... still only managed to give the "Directions" defense 🤣😂
I agree with Chuck you can't join a 73-9 team and walk around saying you're a legend
only problem is although durant has had a tough time in this series he didnt join a 73 win team; this is one of those things people repeat until it becomes "the truth" when it's really not
8 of the rotation players from the 73 win team left the yr durant joined; and they never came CLOSE to winning 70 games WITH durant
@@futuretimetraveller8677 is that you KD on a burner account?
@@futuretimetraveller8677 Warriors losing Bogut, Barnes, Speights, Ezeli to get Durant and Javale McGee definitely finessed the rest of the league.
@@futuretimetraveller8677 they broke the team up for him and yet kept their 8 main guys. The team was 95 % the same as the 73 win team, the reason they never won close to 70 is because they knew regular season didn’t matter anymore.
KD was a legend before he joined the warriors? He was definitely a top 30-35 player back when he was in okc
Chuck is absolutely right, a hall of fame "bus driver ", you will drive your team to the finals, win or lose , and you were practically the the reason you got there.
Charles hit the nail on the head. When all of the pressure is on you, it is a lot different. Those Warriors teams belonged to Steph.
KD knew that GS is Curry team so he left to the Nets so he can run his own team but realize he was in the same position he was in OKC. Brooklyn needs KD to play a perfect game and depend on his scoring to win games. Kyrie dribbles the ball for 20 seconds before getting trap and dissing it out hoping to get bailed out by teammates just standing around. KD resort back to his ISO but gets double team right away, he's not the same player ever since the injury.
Curry has yet to win any since KD left. Not counting the first championship which was a freebie.
@@BLinX神 Still went to the Finals twice before KD got there. What has KD won without Steph is the real question

Kenny was the guy who constantly asked the driver when they will get there.
Kenny: "Hakeem used to say this to me all the time...."
Barkley: "Get me some water?" 😂😂😂
Kenny just a bus rider. Hakeem driving his bus AND giving directions.
@JACCE B. ok I agree. But we cannot argue that Kenny smith wasn’t a good player.

Kenny wouldn’t even look Chuck in the eye on it. He wanted to defend his bus riding
Like a fine wine, this has aged well. KD can be as mad as he wants be hasn't proven Chuck wrong thus far.
For someone whose job is to analyse the game to think Kd was the best player on the warriors is pretty bad, anybody who watched Kd and Steph those playoffs would see that Kd was benefiting of Stephs defensive attention, his playoff efficiency (ts%) jumped 14% from 2016 - 2017 (54% to 68%!!!!!!) and not because he was in the gym
Precisely! Steph and Klays gravity created that space for KD to get the easiest buckets of his life! (Which is exactly what was sold to him to get him to come there in the first place!) 💯
The fact that he was benefiting from having two other all-time shooters besides him does not mean he was not the best player. Now, I'm not arguing that he indeed was. I'm just pointing out the obvious fact that playing with other great offensive players gets you better, more open shots.
@@chiderambah6949 Golden State's record those 3 years when without Curry vs. without KD is night and day. KD was nowhere near the best or most impactful player.
Maybe best 1:1 player, but for 5:5 basketball, Curry was and is the better and more important player.
Only casuals thought he was the best if he was the best why was nobody in 2016 before he joined saying Durant was better than curry
Sorry he was still the best player. It was stephs team for sure but kd was clearly the go to guy when it mattered
This is EXACTLY what Stephen A Smith was talking about. You lose in the playoffs with Kyrie, people will look at KD like Charles does and think of GSW and call him just a person that joined the team he couldn’t beat. KD felt some type of way, here it is in fruition.
This actually ties into what they’re saying. K.D is the driver of this bus. If they win he gets the credit or if they lose he gets the credit. What’s wrong with that?
