      Hello Brad, Yes, the Ledger Security Key app is available for Ledger Stax and Flex. It offers Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Passkey capabilities, providing a secure and convenient alternative to traditional passwords. You can use it to log in to supported services by tapping your Ledger Stax on your phone or connecting it via USB to your laptop or PC.

    I'm still trying to understand the difference between Stax & Flex...? wtf

    • @Ledger
      @Ledger  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! The main differences between Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex are in their design and features. Ledger Stax, designed by Tony Fadell, features a larger 3.9” curved E Ink touchscreen, allowing for more customization, including the spine and lock screen. It also supports stacking multiple devices with in-built magnets. Ledger Flex, on the other hand, has a smaller 2.8” flat E Ink touchscreen, with customization limited to the lock screen. Its magnets are used for attaching accessories. Stax is priced at $399, while Flex is $249. Both offer the same high level of security. • @seekvapes9641
      @seekvapes9641 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      lcd eats a lot more energy, is not well readable in bright areas or at angle, and you don't need fast response on a hw wallet. It's for reading, not gaming or watching movies. Imo an e-ink display is a great fit for this application.

    • @donalone
      @donalone 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@seekvapes9641 Makes sense. However, LCD still has strength. Eg displaying NFT image in color. As we don’t watch video on it, battery will be less a concern. E-ink is marketed as a niche solution. I heard years ago the manufacturer in Taiwan didn’t want to make it too popular. But I guess both are just fine. Maybe other cold wallet brands will soon release LCD cold wallets.

    To Ledger team please give me fingerprint option because if i use ledger Stax on public this is dangerous for me because i need to enter pin code on public you all know public is not safe right if i enter pin code on so public area they have CCTV and people around can see what i do.

    Great analysis, thank you! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (image you tuition loan endless kit north item dice during home filter). How should I go about transferring them to a ledger wallet?

    • @Ledger
      @Ledger  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there, so your USDT are on OKX exchange, you do not need anything that has to do with your hot wallet seed phrase.
      You have to first set-up your Ledger device, meaning set-up PIN, generate 24 words recovery phrase from the Ledger's screen, then establish a genuine check connection between Ledger and Ledger Live.
      Once you are done setting up, you want to decide on which network you want to receive your USDT on.
      For example, if you want USDT ERC20 token, then you need to install the ETH app on your Ledger device > add an ETH account in Ledger Live > receive your Ledger ETH address > copy and paste it on OKX wallet, withdraw the USDT on the Ethereum network.
      And then the USDT will appear under your ETH account in Ledger Live: support.ledger.com/article/4404389645329-zd

    I had my Ledger account compromised about 1-1/2 weeks ago. Had ledger for years. Only hardcopy seed...stored in secure facility. Kept device on me and i was the only one with access. Police cyber-security involved as account was ~$300k. Everything points to seed compromise but highly unlikely based on how i had everything organized. At same time i had digital attacks on my online accounts including banks / credit cards. Ledger has been ZERO help...only saying that its impossible on their end. Something doesn't add up here.

While they feature Bluetooth connectivity for mobile use, you can still manage your Ledger devices using a laptop or desktop through the Ledger Live app. This ensures you have the option to use whichever device suits your needs best.

      @Ledger  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! indeed as mentioned in the helpful comment, the Ledger Flex uses E Ink technology, which may appear dimmer compared to other screens. Why not make the firmware open source? That is a big selling point for me.

    • @Ledger
      @Ledger  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, Ledger's approach to open-source software is to balance transparency with security. While most of our code, including Ledger Live, Wallet API, Secure SDK, and embedded applications, is open-source, the firmware tied to the Secure Element remains closed-source. This is because the Secure Element contains proprietary intellectual property that enhances security against various attacks. We prioritize using Secure Elements to ensure the highest level of security for our users. For more details, visit: support.ledger.com/article/11132311094813-zd

      @@AkxTremisT
      There are no back doors
      You create the so-called back door. It's going through kyc with ledger for them to store your private key... Which is really only with your permission and not related to any pre-existing back door in any of The ledger devices... It's a separate service outside the whole ethos of not your keys, not your crypto...
      It's basically for customers who don't trust themselves and 24 words as much as they would relinquishing their sovereignty for what they might consider better security than if they would have it themselves...
      Tons of crypto has been lost due to people not having an outside party, third party or custodian outside themselves responsible for the private key or at least in addition to an individual
      And it's not like customer service can take a phone call from you and give you your 24 words
      As I understand it, they still can't get access to your private key, only with you asking for it getting it with your initiation... Still no direct access for ledger employees... But you have stored it online. And for most everybody that gets into hardware wallets, this is anathema as security should be air gapped as much as possible
      I think it's kind of multi-signature... If you pay for this monthly service, you are one of the signatures and ledger is another... And there should be a third... Maybe two out of three could work and one of the two has to be you...
      I'm speculating on how it exactly works cuz I don't remember all the details but It's not at all like ledger has the 24 words...
      I wouldn't use such a service unless there was insurance involved, And I wouldn't want to operate a company that has such a service unless our company had insurance

      Hello David, most of Ledger’s products are already open source, with over 150 open-source apps available. However, the Secure Element (SE) used in Ledger devices cannot be fully open-sourced due to its proprietary nature and the need for a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). We are committed to making more of our OS components available for review and verifiability.

      @@Ledger it is a shame, you have great hardware, but you have had some serious missteps over the years...last year's ledger recover release was a real disaster for you as it made everyone feel like you have had a back door into our keys (even if you did not, you didn't communicate it well)...i had half a dozen of your devices and used them religiously and trained friends and family to do the same...needless to say i stopped doing that and have moved everything over to trezor and keystone - and deleted and swiped clean all my ledger devices. Trezor is very inconvenient though because it requires the computer. you have to open source everything...if you do that and make a strong commitment to letting the community really inspect your software and have nothing to hide...i could be swayed back...this ledger flex looks really really cool...i am just SUS about everything you do now. Just being honest...I am not the only one who feels this way in the community. Would be an amazing opportunity for your company to do some outreach and openness and rebrand for the next billion users. :)

      At Ledger, our mission has always been clear: to empower individuals to securely self-custody their assets. With over 10 years of innovation, 7 million devices sold, and zero hacks, Ledger is the trusted leader in hardware wallet security.
      1. No Backdoor. Ever.
      Claims of an “active backdoor” on Ledger devices are categorically false. Ledger’s security model is based on secure element hardware and cryptography, ensuring that only the user has access to their private keys. Ledger Recover, provided by Coincover, is an optional service and does not change this principle.
      Ledger takes transparency seriously. We employ proprietary software for our Secure Elements, ensuring the highest level of tamper resistance and security. Importantly, a majority of Ledger's code is open source, including Ledger Live, Wallet API, Secure SDK, and embedded applications on our devices. You can review key components like the LedgerOS commands dispatcher, and entry points of Ledger Recover, provided by Coincover, implementation and its cryptographic library here. Ledger undergoes regular third-party security audits to ensure our security measures remain robust and reliable.
      2. Ledger Recover: Cryptographic Innovation with Security.
      Ledger Recover is an opt-in paid subscription service provided in partnership with Coincover, an industry leader in digital asset protection. It is designed for those who find the traditional 24-word recovery sheet daunting. The service requires a paid subscription and leverages advanced encryption and shard-splitting technology:
      - Your seed phrase is split into 3 encrypted shards, each stored separately by trusted providers in three different jurisdictions.
      - The shards can only be reassembled with your explicit consent, through your device and ID verification with two of the three providers.
      Neither Ledger nor Coincover has access to your private keys at any point.
      - In the 1+ year since its launch, there have been zero incidents involving Ledger Recover, provided by Coincover, with many customers expressing relief knowing they have added security, the peace of mind of having a backup SRP, and the convenience it provides.
      3. Third-party access Misconceptions.
      Let’s clarify:
      - Ledger cannot decrypt your seed phrase. Shards are stored with independent providers, encrypted, and require your identity verification (IDV), Ledger device, and consent for decryption.
      - A minimum of two of the three fragments would be required for any jurisdiction to gain access to your wallet, and a court order would need to be obtained in at least two jurisdictions. These individual fragments are not exploitable on their own. Two of them would need to be recombined and decrypted with separate keys. Any order of this nature would realistically only ever be obtained in the most serious cases of criminality (such as where terrorist financing is suspected).
      - If a user chooses not to IDV and pay for the service, none of the above is relevant or applicable and the Ledger device operates the same as before.
      - If anyone gains access to your physical wallet, extracting keys is only possible if they know your PIN. Ledger’s secure element and PIN-protection prevent brute-force attempts, ensuring your funds remain secure-even in the event of theft or loss.
      Additionally, with over 600 million crypto owners worldwide, only a portion of them are in secure self-custody. Ledger Recover, provided by Coincover, is aimed at empowering more people to self-custody their assets instead of relying only on centralized solutions.
      Ledger stands for self-sovereignty and security. Misinformation like this only hinders the movement toward wider crypto adoption and self-custody. We encourage everyone to research thoroughly and make informed decisions about their security.

      Hello! When you use the Ledger Security Key app for authentication, Ledger does not store or know your personal login information. The private key and associated metadata are stored on your Ledger device, not on Ledger's servers. This ensures your login process remains secure and private. User interface, how is it better?
    Or do we have to wait for BTCsessions to explain.
    I noticed the audience at 2024 was not impressed with your presentation - 2or3 people clapped! Hope your listening.

      No Backdoor. Always Secure.
      The suggestion of a “backdoor” in Ledger devices is unfounded. Ledger’s security framework relies on secure element technology and cryptographic safeguards, ensuring user-exclusive control of private keys. Optional features like Ledger Recover, developed with Coincover, maintain these essential security principles.
