    Thank you for providing these videos, they have been a great help. I have never been particularly confident at producing an essay under pressure but the framework makes thing much easier. If you find yourself with some spare time could you possibly go over a full example of how you would answer this I.e would you include the quote etc.

    Hey Chris, thanks for putting these videos together, they are really helping me out :) Is it please possible when you write things out long-form on screen to provide a link to some notes for us to copy and paste (rather than re-type out)?

      Appreciate this video is nearly two years old and you may not be making more gamsat videos ;)

      Not sure if i'll get back to GAMSAT videos, I'm sitting my Surgical Fellowship exams next year, so that's taken up a lot of my focus. Great suggestion though, I will do if I post again though.

    Hey Chris, I found this really helpful. I would love to see you do the second paragraph, or another full essay. Could you talk through how you get to the point of "Hey, this is a good idea for paragraph 1 or paragraph 2". Sometimes I find thinking outside the box is difficult. If you could do some more on section 1 or section 2 that would be really great.

      Hey Eve, I’ll see what I can do. It takes a bit of time to put these together, so i’ll do my best to schedule it in. Thanks so much for watching!

    Hey Chris, great vid! What was your approach (and ideally, a structure) for the second essay which is more personal/social? Thank you! :)

    Another great video. Do you reccommend always using 2 arguments or could you get away with using 1 (depending on the type of quote)?

    • @drchristophermaguire
      @drchristophermaguire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would recommend two. It shows greater depth, and if the arguments contrast will ensure that the examiner doesn't mistake your argument for your thesis.

    Hi Chris! This was by far the best section 2 plan explanation I have come across. Thank you for sharing your tips! I was wondering for someone from a science background with minimal knowledge on politics/economics etc, what resources would you recommend? I know everyone suggests on wide-reading, but just for the sake of preparation time what would you recommend if I want to add depth and relate the question to unique topics (if you know what I mean)? Thank you!

      This is very hard. I don't have a singal resource. I had a humanities background - which was the only advantage I had going into the GAMSAT process. I would suggest reading easily consumable content that covers a broad spectrum of culture, politics and history (The Economist, National Geographic, Time Magazine etc...). Adding in some philosophy, politics, and international relations theory doesn't hurt either. You want a sense of the structure of the discussions that take place on these topics.

    You make it seem easy! Thank you very much...my biggest worries is section 1 and 3. If I may ask- how do you handle this part of the Gamsat?

    Hey Chris, thanks for posting this, you're videos are always helpful. I was wondering though, the essay you just wrote (or half essay), would that relate more to healthcare than it would to politics (the overall theme). I've written essays where I've focussed on examples but I've received feedback from people that the essay was irrelevant to the theme or that it sidetracked a lot and so I would get lower scores.

    • @drchristophermaguire
      @drchristophermaguire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The examples are simply a means of demonstrating the underlying argument. Using a diversity of examples can help in avoiding the mistaken impression that the essay is too niche. Also, be careful in thinking that a stimulus relates to politics or healthcare etc. often it will relate to a multitude of areas. For example, affirmative action, can equally be discussed int he setting of politics, healthcare, business, etc.
