I've seen that you're supposed to put some oil on the copper side of the bore snake and turn it through and the thick end of the snake dries it out and just leaves a thin layer of lubricant to protect it from further corrosion

Yes. 3 points to lube. 1: at the start of the ribbon part of the bore snake where the strips part ends, and the ribbon begins. 2: a few drops on the copper brushes. 3rd on the tail end of the ribbon. That's it. Do your three passes with it. And your done

Shouldn't you have a light oiling inside the barrel?

If you are trying to be perfect, you remove the oil before you shoot and you put it on after you shoot (after cleaning it first).

Pretty crazy you went to the trouble of making an instruction video on bore-snakes use and forgot to mention anything about bore cleaners and oil, in fact you say to not use any, which is of course absurd.

He fails to mention that you shouldn't pull it through the barrel dry.... Make sure you atleast sprayed some ballistol or at the very least ran a wet patch of solvent down the barrel with a push rod, let the solvent sit for 1-3min, THEN run the bore snake through. I personally like to spray a good bit of ballistol in my barrel, spin the barrel so it coats everything to where it's starting to drip out the front of the barrel. Let it sit for 3min then if it's not that dirty, run the snake through once or twice, THEN take a dry patch and run it through the barrel, NEVER PULL BACK THROUGH! Keep running dry patches until your patch is clean after being pushed through. The snake does a great job at grabbing whatever the solvent/cleaner has congealed and will knock it out of whatever it's clinging to, then it's the patches job to grab that stuff up.

Well, you have to put lube/cleaner on the points where they tell you to place it on the bore snake. I lube my bore snakes all the time in the three points where they tell you. No issue what so ever on accuracy

You are right ✅ never put oil on a bore snake 👍

Lmao there is no reason to use this if you aren’t going to use the properly. You need to place solvent and oil on it to run it through. It is also hard to pull through because it is designed to fit tightly to the bore in order to remove carbon build up.

Can you use this as a seasonal cleaner ? Like as a main rifle cleaner ?

lol, then why do boresnake manufacturers (Hoppe's) recommend some bore cleaner on the front and then oil on the tail so it does all 4 actions (clean, brush, dry, oil)? th-cam.com/video/P4oPY6ILQsY/w-d-xo.html

Agreed, have a new barrel and uses a scope to inspect and since I have a snake should clean at least and oil. Viewed the Hoops video first which states where to apply cleaner and then where to apply oil. Will definitely clean with solvent, but how long does the oil stay on the snake?

Can you use rememington lub stray for the snake

I do, works great. I spray some down the barrel and on the brass brushes of the snake. They clean well especially if you do it after you shoot. It's too easy

I guess you need to run the manufacturer's instructions through Google translate into your language to see that you are indeed supposed to put some solvent in the brush area and some oil further down near the loop. And don't treat your viewers like idiots who would clean muzzle-to-chamber we don't need to be reminded not to do that.
