  • This color footage was taken c. 1945 in Sennen Cove by a U.S. Navy photographer. This was from a reel with the photographs that I made videos of earlier. There are many more clips from these reels that I'll post later.

Sennen my favourite place. My ideal life would be to spend every day on this beach. Thank you for uploading.

Great footage, the bay is almost unchanged today.
Went down there as a child and can remember that the barbwire barriers, on the video, remained on some parts of the beach in the 1970's. The winter storms had to push the sand around a lot to expose them though.
The pill boxes, on the hill, are still there today.

Apart from Phil Shannon's awful monstrous and ugly brand new cafe with it wretched stinking waste bins. The old one was so much nicer and in-keeping with the ambiance of the place.

To international readers, some Cornish people, (clearly 'Gala-Vine' is Cornish ..), have convinced themselves that Cornwall is a separate COUNTRY; please be advised - it isn't; it is just a COUNTY, and most surely IS in England, and IS as much a part of England as is Lancashire, Cheshire, (where I was born), Devon, (where I now live), or Yorkshire, (all of these also being English Counties.) It is unusual 'though, in that it DOES have it's own language, (which almost died out, but is being revived and is taught in some Cornish schools as an 'option', if parents express a wish to have it taught to their children.) Thus concludes an interesting aside re. the COUNTY, (NOT 'COUNTRY' ..), of Cornwall. .. Mr.Swann, Devon.
