    I enjoy every video. Don't pay attention to the keyboard warrior's that don't understand that beavers in farming drainage systems is the same as having Rats in their homes. Both are pests that cause issues of their own. None of the people worried about the beavers would tolerate a mouse or Rats live in their homes. Keep up the good work!!

      It’s obvious that a number of people never had beavers invade their property, so they don’t know the damage they do.

    Like how you undermine the dam, thinning it out as much as possible and watch it finally give way resulting in a big flow. Something cathartic about it.

  • @jeremy1350
    @jeremy1350 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hay Papa. The drain was almost at equilibrium, before you cut to later on. When the water behind the dam was equal to the water in front of it. I was wondering if digging out the channel would have drained it further, but it just drained by itself. That was a good amount of water held behind that dam, and only two weeks to rebuild it. Beavers are very industrious !!

  • @rustyiron

    The shallower the water is the harder it is to rebuild the dam. This means no white water or ripples in front of the dam. The narrower the cut the easier it is to open the dam if it is repaired. The narrower the cut the water has more force to wash away what you pull out of th front of the dam. Anything above the waterline does not have to be removed. Opening the dam every second or third day is often enough to deter the beaver from rebuilding the dam. Getting the dam opened to the level of the downstream bed is critical there is a lot of mud that needs to be removed. Dropping the water level that far in two hours is a great result.

    You might want to consider working on the back of the dam first to increase the water pressure on the dam. Then the front portion will be more likely to collapse dramatically.

  • @dl33tc0dr6

    Experiment idea: After removing a beaver dam, come back every day to disrupt any rebuild efforts and maybe also do further clean out up and downstream. Does this encourage beavers to emigrate elsewhere?

      Removing what they build every day. Intermittent conditioning (removing the dam once or twice a month) will not convince them this is a bad location for dam building.

    Are there big fish in the water? At 5:41 something swims from right to left in the water behind you, and then something swims from the left side of the channel to the right side at around 7:06 (and 7:40 ?). I would like to think that it is the beaver coming to see what is happening. He stops for a minute to see you taking down the dam and he says "Screw it I'm outta here. We are moving". Although I know it is probably just a fish

  • @raymondheckard234
    @raymondheckard234 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Beavers do not live in lakes and rivers, they prefer streams and marsh lands that they can modify to meet their needs. To get beaver to move, one has to find their lodge and destroy that. with out destroying the lodge, the beavers just rebuild the dam over and over again.
