I’m an 80s child brought up on this, my children have suffered the same fate. Their music is so diverse my 20yr/18 yr old love 80s/90s. My 14yr old is all about country and western proper 50s/60s stuff my 5 yr old is real rock n roll like chubby checker. Its great at bbq days cause music is a real eclectic mix.

On one occasion Ben E King came to Glasgow, im guessing about 22 years ago. I recall when he came out of the Kings Theatre to walk down to his hotel (in a dazzling white suit) he must have been stopped by every second person who seemed to recognise who he was. I overheard the lady of the couple when I passed close by saying with considerable emotion to him, - 'its because of you I'm married to Hamish'. The husband immediately retorted - 'so what have you got to say for yourself ' !! Ben immediately doubled up with laughter. 😅 He was reported in the local press the following day that Glasgow held a special place in his heart. He couldn't always understood what we said, but he knew good people when we saw them. His words, not mine. Thanks for this wonderful music of yesteryear.

I know I definitely would not want to return to this time. Being 73 is not easy. Too many health issues to deal with. I’ve dealt with Breast cancer, 2 back surgeries, heart surgery, kidney surgery and now in 3rd stage kidney disease. This music gives me peace of mind and a heart to be grateful that I’m still a part of Gods beautiful earth.

I was born in May 1961 and these songs rang with popularity until I entered school and eventually learned to mimic some of them. I remember my dear mother's favorite is the song entitled" Crazy" by Patsy Cline.
My big brother sang blue moon dancing singing crazy base teaching me dance moves rock and rolling fun ! He was 16 in 61 but I lost him in tragic drowning. I was 13 . This is all I have left to dream about. I was in love with a pretty girl in highschool fm 1958 until graduation in 1961. Never cud date her because she was attached to a cool guy that treated her right. I went into the navy then and got more engaged with many different events and dances, dates and pretty girls until marriage. She bore me 3 children and then passed 8 yrs ago. We were divorced unfortunately. All these songs will always bring good memories until I die.
If there's any nice gals still alive out there during these times you were all beautiful ❤️ Even though I"m 80 now it sure would be fun if I could maybe hear from you just to reminis about whatever you were doing in that time before Vietnam broke out and reigned hell on all our lives. Still it was times that we all cherished mostly because of the music that kept us together and dream of better times to come. Hope I can make it to heaven and see all of you even the ones I never met, but only thought about.❤❤

Wow, what a great year for pop music. Elvis's "I Can't Help Falling in Love" is a masterpiece of romantic music. However, it iconically harks back to an era of optimism, innocence, and general unity. There are so many talented singers and musicians represented here. Bravo!
Elvis's Can't Help Falling - sing it around a campfire or at a party and so many people will join in. Of all his great songs, that's the one people really know. Sort of odd!

Thanks for featuring these very nice selections which made more nostalgic by bits of historical events that took place in 1961. I'm excited to learn about these. I was born in May 1961 and these songs rang with popularity until I entered school and eventually learned to mimic some of them. I remember my dear mother's favorite is the song entitled" Crazy" by Patsy Cline.

My big brother sang blue moon dancing singing crazy base teaching me dance moves rock and rolling fun ! He was 16 in 61 but I lost him in tragic drowning. I was 13 . To this day I cherish these good memories in this music. It still brings sad but great memories. Thanks for bringing it back today July 2024🦋💙♥️🕊🌹💖😎

Teen canteen music on the Army base in Germany. Dad was stationed here during my pre-teen years. Great time riding the electric cable train into Mannheim to shop and eat German pastries. The music of my youth! ❤
I was born in 50 and remember listening to all of these when they came out. I also recall my folks and I listening to oldies from the 30s and 40s. Most of todays music blows.

This is all I have left to dream about. I was in love with a pretty girl in highschool fm 1958 until graduation in 1961. Never cud date her because she was attached to a cool guy that treated her right. I went into the navy then and got more engaged with many different events and dances, dates and pretty girls until marriage. She bore me 3 children and then passed 8 yrs ago. We were divorced unfortunately. All these songs will always bring good memories until I die.
If there's any nice gals still alive out there during these times you were all beautiful ❤️ Even though I"m 80 now it sure would be fun if I could maybe hear from you just to reminis about whatever you were doing in that time before Vietnam broke out and reigned hell on all our lives. Still it was times that we all cherished mostly because of the music that kept us together and dream of better times to come. Hope I can make it to heaven and see all of you even the ones I never met, but only thought about.❤❤
