@@markelwhitney3802 well I'm already on a ship already and being a DC is pretty chill, I have to say the training you see in this video is nothing compared to what you learn now, you do go through a Fire simulation and a gas chamber but it's very easy now, nothing compared to back then
I gotta 42 on my asvab and got this job honestly you don’t do much of this I’m school tho unfortunately but the confidence chamber ain’t to bad it’s the shower after
DC's don't get shore duty. If you do get shore duty, it wont be in rate. Most likely you will be handing out basketballs and the MWR (Morale, Welfare, Rec.) at least that's how it was when I was in (93-97).
@@rickmathis6201 You definitely outrank me, I was only in for 4 years. Maybe I was told that because there wasn't an open billet for a DC3 or a DC2. The only ones I knew who had a shore duty were the instructors at Treasure Island. The reason I was told was that they have federal firefighters. If anyone is reading this and thinking about doing DC, I would follow Rick's advice, his experience is much greater than mine.
@@rickmathis6201 I joined in Oct.25 1993, went to DC A School (Treasure Island) after bootcamp, so I can't remember if A School was at the beginning of 1994 or the end of 1993, from there I went to USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) when she was still in San Diego.
