Jay Hard Yep. With your nokia, if anyone laughed at you, you would beat them to submission and leave them till they're almost dead, then leave them to die with an inch of their life left.
I use a Nokia 2680 slide phone that I got for $60 back in 2008. That thing will only stop working when the service provider discontinues the mobile reception.
I know this video was made several years ago, but I can't believe there was no mention of the OG Gameboy. They still have a working one on display in the Nintendo World Store in NYC that survived a bombing.
I work in nyc, though on christmas of last year they removed it from its display glass. It actually belonged to a female medic who dropped it during the gulf war during a mortar hit her barracks and it burned. Saw it in person many times and i must say it still works.
I still have a Nokia 3310. I use it when I travel (to put overseas top-up SIM cards in), the battery still lasts a day and it's a great call quality (+snake II).
I've had an iPhone 2nd generation since it released, it hasn't broken in any respect, lol, I need a new phone, that one is aged. Anyone have any suggestions under $200 up-front payment.
Depends if you want a high end smartphone with many sensors and or 4g LTE connection which can have a price point of $350-1000. Or if you want a high end 3g phone with a powerful mtk6592 octacore processor, a nice 540×960 QHD 5.5", 1gb ram, around 4 to 32gb rom, 4gb internal storage(available less than 3). I'd recommend a "lenovo a850 plus" from aliexpress, hint don't purchase the less expensive one because some sellers are selling a quad core mtk6582 processor version, make sure you get the mtk6592 lenovo a850 plus kind its a very powerful phone for less than 180$
About the rumor at the end of the video. That one is true. I was in Russia visiting my grandparents and I saw my grandpa use it. He said I can do anything on it, so I threw it out of the 5 story building. AND IT WAS WORKING. And he clams he hasn't changed the battery for 2 years. (This happened in 2009)
Still have a Nokia 3310 for emergency 911 calls in my car, in the event my smartphone is destroyed in an accident. I charge it once every 4 months! That battery life is amazing and I am confident it would work if I called from the bottom of a river... Great points as always man!
I had a Nokia 2720 couple years ago. During autumn, I lost it, then come spring, I found it outside in my backyard. and its still working to this day. I live in Minnesota too, so our winters are pretty harsh. =D
I have a I phone 4, I was finally thinking of getting a new phone cause the back is completely shattered there are pieces falling out, only front camera worked, and it has a shifted frame... I recently put duck tape on the back and the camera lens that was attached to the glass had fallen off recently also, so my camera works now, it's just the intern part of the camera.(I guess the lens or whatever was scratched up so bad it was totally blurry) so this gives me more reason to keep it longer :)
I'm extremely disappointed that you mentioned aluminum. It's literally one of the cheapest, most malleable and least durable materials used in building ANYTHING.
yeah.. no. not the cheapest, by far. not eh most malleable, by far, and not the least durable, by far. several alloys are much better, but many would agree that aluminium is a huge step up from many types of plastics. if you really want to hate aluminium as a building material for tech. do so for the right reasons. major downsides include, noise isolation, price and weight. (weight being a downside, when comparing with plastics).
***** magnesium alloys can be used which are much more durable than aluminium. Hence the Microsoft surface does not dent even when run over by a car, and all aluminium products dent when dropped.
Oh good old memories of the 3310! Thanks for making it the no. 1. For Nokia the evolution from that to N8 was awesome and than came the Lumia and now its over. Damn!
i swear he has cheerios in every single one of his videos. they always just chilling in the back stacked on top of each other. never open. he must love cheerios
i love you! you are so intelligent and well rounded in technology and don't follow the mainstream/trending tech. you praise technology that are worthy and show true evidence that they should be. thanks, keep it up!
The mouse is called Rat 7 by cyborg/madcatz. And I think the cheerio boxes are used to balance the background color; resembling a backdrop when out of focus.
i am currently using a HTC 610. broken screen, broken simcard. Even after intentionally trying to break it ( throwing, not dropping, it onto marble flooring from 8 feet finally beat it),but it still functions like new - besides now having a 14 hour battery life. No mainstream phone beats HTC for build quality. I still know several people who use broken HTC wildfire S phones. The HTC Wildfire S is the Best built phone I've ever owned, besides the Alcatel 10.16 Mobile Phone. I put the Alcatel 10.16 Mobile Phone through the nokia 3310 test, and it still survived. It comes in at only £6 at Argos. I though it against brick walls, out of 25 foot trees, run it over with a 3.2 tonne car. Run over it in water. jumped on it. Chucked it against steel piping. left if submerged in muddy ice overnight. Yet it still works!
Dyson hoovers have to be on this list. They are so popular and so simple to cannibalise and repair. That is the logic that the reduced manufacturing cost from a streamlined production process nets more than extra profits on parts sales. They do make the parts quite model-specific but it always is easy to find another broken one for free to use for parts. I have one in my workshop as a dust extractor that I was given 5 years ago and that has run probably 1.5 YEARS total on time.
I have a HTC One X which i got from a friends pawn shop. Its one weakness was the side. the body did not cover it, if you dropped it on its corner like the previous owner did, then it cracked, still works great though
I live near Corning and I love their glass, and on the broken tech question, I used an iPhone 3GS for months, and a droid razer with a shattered screen for a month before the LCD shattered too.
You sir have gained a new subscriber, I was trying to figure out what headphones I might get for my birthday, and I started off with your Audio Technica ATH-M50 review, and to be perfectly honest with you, I am in love with these babies, thank you very much man. I was going to buy the Beats Solo HD, and you convinced me otherwise, I can't thank you enough for saving me some money and for getting these awesome headphones. With kind regards, a new subscriber. P.S: I watched 50 videos so far :D
I had a 3310, One time I lost it in a grass field on my way home from school, ooh and I found it 1 weak later (it was raining the entire weak) and it still worked when I picked it up. still with lots of battery power left ofc. Best thing to have come out of Finland. Ever.
Good against nails, that's one thing, good against a concrete driveway, that's something else. My HTC One X screen is completely shattered, plus the battery is very unpredictable and can't hold its charge longer than an hour or so of use... and sometimes doesn't charge at all! I've ordered a Lumia 925 replacement, here's hoping Nokia have brought that famous durability of their classic phones into their recent line.
I know this is an old video but I use a 2010 iMac that was nearly destroyed by a falling cabinet. The cabinet crashed onto the iMac and pushes it through the counter top it was sitting on. I was about to toss it out when insurance bought a new one. I decided to try and start it and it still worked perfect! Albeit the screen was scratched to hell but everything worked on it! I replace the LCD for about $150 I think and all is well now. I use the iMac as my server and as my screen for my custom gaming PC that uses mini display port. I am using the screen at a resolution of 2560x1440 and it looks amazing! Just thought I would share.
I would also add that the Sony Walkman WM 10. I own this Walkman built in 1983. it's the size of a cassette case making it the smallest cassette player in the world, and most of em still works today. I use mine daily. Or, the Technics SL 1200 Mk2. Produced from 1979 to 2010, it became the industry standard and is considered as the best turntable in the world.
i agree with the last two, any ways, i use to have htc desire hd which fell off my hand while is was fiddling with it on my bike at 100 kmph(sound crazy but ya it happened), point is that the phone is still working.... and i am amazed with built quality of htc phone over all. as far as the the nokia 3310 was concerned i would call it a brick, one could probably hit people with it and absolutely nothing use to happen..... dude I m really impressed with your work... please keep on going....
Funny thing just saw your video and when you said that Nokia's 3310 still beating and long lasting battery I was clearing out my office for remodeling and came across it stuck between bookshelves was about to toss it but decided to see if it turned on and yes it did! I went through the call and text history last call was placed on May of 2008 and last text on February of 2008. Now mind that I didn't move into this office till 2009 so I don't know how it got there but I do know that the phone was not charged since then. I asked a co worker who had worked there since 2005 and told me that they (the person who's office that used to be) thought it was lost and just simply went ahead and got another phone and forgot about it. Like you said months and in this case about 6 years of battery life!!!
The one gadget that i still use after major falling downs is my sony psp 3000. My father once threw it on the ground (the whole thing came apart except for the harware so as soon as i brought a new casing it was all working normal) as i was gaming on it during my exams but i still game on it during my exams.
At work a couple days ago, I used a 2010 Mac Pro (same case design that is shown in the video) as a foot tool so that I could get atop a desk and install a VISA mount. I'm about 250 lbs and it survived, completely unscathed, all of my weight on one foot. I put all of my weight on one foot when I noticed it wasn't bending. I stood on the top of the case where our video host is resting his arm at 2:00. I wasn't gentle with my step-down either. The computer was fine.
Had an xperia z1 and about 40% of the screen didnt work after a crack. It meant dropping down the notification tray moving the phone on its side axis to rotate the screen and other thing like that but I was able to use it for 3 months in that state. What a pain it was. I definitely advice getting a case if your like me and not careful.
Was really expecting to see a DJI Phantom drone here.. for a machine with so many parts that's expected to move at fast speeds and fall from the sky, these things are incredibly durable!
I still have a nokia 3310 (blue :D) but I only use it when I'm going for mountain climbing, out of town/s, long trips... so yeah. I have it when I was 4 and still kick-ass! still works! :D btw. longest batt life for my usage was 3weeks 3days! :D
My Nexus 5 shattered and i was surprised that the screen even worked after. The Nexus 4's touch screen would completely stop working if it shattered even a little bit. I still use my Nexus 5 for some music and stuff but my daily driver is my G3 which thankfully is in pristine condition.

Thank you for Nokia 3210. I was thinking about buying new one, cause old one actually died few years ago. But.. after hundreds of throws 50 meters away, several baths, and so on.. Their price is actually going up right now. I think its a good investment. And Snake II, Space impact, pairs... Best mobile games ever made!
The iPhone 4/S is definitely my favorite phone, Ignoring it being dated. The functional broken thing that I still use is my(sister's) old VAIO VGN-CR354 Dead battery Broken hinge Power jack is somewhat broken(picky about what position it should be plugged in) Still works I have no idea what to do with it now though, I may use it as a home server if I figure that out
I used to have an old trackball mouse that constantly kept releasing the ball while in use and it also had a broken wire so you'd constantly have to wiggle the connection between the wire and the mouse to make it work again. Fun times.
hTC One X also has the best HDR Mode camera/software i guess out there still, it can literally see into dark and make light out of no light at all.. also you can zoom up on something and qualitry is almost dead mint.
My iPhone dropped on the floor, (5c) and its actual screen display came out slightly in the corner. As my dad was trying to push it back in, the screen shattered. I still used it. Then, after pieces of glass actually came out of the display screen, it ended up completely breaking, to the point where I couldn't see the display screen at all. Nothing would light up, I couldn't access it, type in my pass code, or use any apps. Obviously, after that, I couldn't use it.
I think I have that Nokia. I have no idea where it is, but I will have to try and find it now. Seems like a good 'backup' phone to maybe throw in your glove box in the car for emergencies or something. Coolness.
The 2nd generation iPod Nanos could take a serious beating. I got one right around the time it was first released (2006-ish). Since then it's fallen into a river, has been dropped off a couple flights of stairs multiple times, sat on by my father (a rather large man), and much more. It just died on me a couple months back. :(
Kindle fire CyanogenMod 10.1, after I killed the battery (lasted 20 mins on a full charge) and cracked the top half of the screen (after dropping it down a full flight of cement stairs, intentionally throwing it on tile floor numerous times, having it knocked out of my hands, having a knife deeply cut the back on accident, and how it cracked? It slid off my folder in class and dropped 3 feet to the ground, landing perfectly flat on the screen)
I'm so happy that in 2012 I made a good decision to buy a HTC One X+ rather than a SAMSUNG Galaxy S3; and I am still using my phone without a single scratch. I love HTC.
I used to have a nokia when flip phones were the shits.
They laughed at my nokia, I laughed at their cries for mercy whilst I beat them with it.

That's awesome! 😮

That's nice
gimmie55 I have one with a coca cola shell in my basement. it still works :)
I hate it so much when I see people walking around with an iPhone or some people with a Nexus 4 with either a broken display or back cover.
I know this video was made several years ago, but I can't believe there was no mention of the OG Gameboy. They still have a working one on display in the Nintendo World Store in NYC that survived a bombing.

Marques i am waiting for the GoPro review please do fast .
I had a Nokia 2720 couple years ago. During autumn, I lost it, then come spring, I found it outside in my backyard. and its still working to this day. I live in Minnesota too, so our winters are pretty harsh. =D
I dropped my iphone 4 12 times and accidentally dropping it in water for 4 times and it still works perfectly.
Bullshit
nobody gives a shit, fuck face
He failed to mention that he has a lifeproof case most likely. xD
once we all die out, the aliens will find two things.

2. a nokia with battery and signal
I have a I phone 4, I was finally thinking of getting a new phone cause the back is completely shattered there are pieces falling out, only front camera worked, and it has a shifted frame... I actually got kinda freaked out by that second Marques in the background.
I'm extremely disappointed that you mentioned aluminum. It's literally one of the cheapest, most malleable and least durable materials used in building ANYTHING.
yeah.. no.
not the cheapest, by far. not eh most malleable, by far, and not the least durable, by far.
several alloys are much better, but many would agree that aluminium is a huge step up from many types of plastics.
if you really want to hate aluminium as a building material for tech. do so for the right reasons.

hes talking about tech no one has a phone made of titanium
***** magnesium alloys can be used which are much more durable than aluminium. Hence the Microsoft surface does not dent even when run over by a car, and all aluminium products dent when dropped.
karl haxthausen aluminium is soft, not strong at all.
Alexander Est You have no idea. Guess you've never heard of EN AW 7075 or EN AW 6061
I really enjoy your delivery and accessibility. Seen a few of your videos and will totally be keeping up-to-date with your recordings.
I once dropped my Nokia 3310 on my tiled floor and it broke the tiles.

why did he always have so much cheerios in the back ground?
I happened to have a Nokia 3310 even now.. :)

I have to ask. I'm sure you've mentioned it before but...what is with the Cheerios?? They are in like so many videos.
The iPhone 4/S is definitely my favorite phone, Ignoring it being dated.
The functional broken thing that I still use is my(sister's) old VAIO VGN-CR354
Dead battery
Broken hinge
Power jack is somewhat broken(picky about what position it should be plugged in)
Still works
I have no idea what to do with it now though, I may use it as a home server if I figure that out
I used to have an old trackball mouse that constantly kept releasing the ball while in use and it also had a broken wire so you'd constantly have to wiggle the connection between the wire and the mouse to make it work again.
Fun times.
brooo ! I just love the gadgets u own ! they are badass
man i love your videos! favorite tech you-tuber!
hTC One X also has the best HDR Mode camera/software i guess out there still, it can literally see into dark and make light out of no light at all.. also you can zoom up on something and qualitry is almost dead mint.
Obviously, after that, I couldn't use it.
screen driver failed like my htc wildfire that i smashed becae i hated it i now have a nokia 1800 which i can't break
I think I have that Nokia. I have no idea where it is, but I will have to try and find it now. Seems like a good 'backup' phone to maybe throw in your glove box in the car for emergencies or something. Coolness.
Hey Marques,
when is your video about the GoPro Hero 3 coming ?
My Nexus 5 was hammering Twinkies into planks of whip cream. I was amazed!
One of my best phone i ever had 3310 ..and also till now i have a broken htc hd2 wich i adore soo much
The 2nd generation iPod Nanos could take a serious beating.
My mum bought the nokia 3310 when it was first released and still uses it to this day, 14 years on.
I loved my HTC One X! :) I did not see that coming on this video.
If you pause the video at 6:59 part of his arm gets hidden behind the split screen. :)
My grandmother still uses the nokia 3310. It's been at least 13 years. IT JUST DOES NOT DIE.
I'm so happy that in 2012 I made a good decision to buy a HTC One X+ rather than a SAMSUNG Galaxy S3; and I am still using my phone without a single scratch. I love HTC.
Still have the 3310, I always take it as a backup phone when I go hiking.
hey MKBHD, pls let me know the name of the mic u used in this video :/
You mention that that you were going to have a review of the GoPro Hero 3. Any chance that's still coming out?
Man this video is super awesome!! U r just great man!!
Those cheerios in the background, staring into my soul.
