I'm running GPE on my M7 and absolutely love it. The only reason I didn't upgrade to the M8 this year was that I bought my M7 outright and couldn't justify the cost of upgrade. I did however push at least 2 of my friends in that direction and they're both rocking GPE M8's. I'm really looking forward to what HTC brings to the table in 2015.
OverlyAttached Bean I love it! Great battery life, beautiful display, and dat boomsound. I used it without a case for 2 weeks and loved the feel in the hand. It is a bit slippery tho, and the thin bezels always made me accidentally touch the edge of the screen. Just got a the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case for it in the mail today though so that's not a problem anymore. The only other problem I've ever noticed is that it gets hot sometimes - - must be that metal unibody. It's an awesome phone though.
okashi10 oh ya I got the spigen ultra clear one or whatever it was, I never even touched it without the case lol. But I'm having issues with mine when I'm using while charging which ik is not recommended but the touch screen gets very unresponsive r u having this issue too?
I love mine too. I got my last one replaced cos it had a problem with the w button doing random stuff but my new one is top notch and even though I got a dud first time around I still love this phone. Smooth, fast and water proof, add a case and a magnetic charger or two and it's awesome and can fit in any pocket.

Anyone want to bring a phone from today to 2013 or 2014. I have the s21 ultra and that would blow 2014 a MKBHD's mind. 108 mp camera. Great low light camera that basically turns night to day. In display fingerprint when fingerprint scanners were still brand new. Imagine calling a phone with a 5.5 inch screen big but then calling a 5.4 inch screen small. Absolutely nuts
In school we were working on a project we design a product. And two girls were asking me to fill out a questionnaire for an app they were going to make. The options for what phone I had were... IPhone Samsung Windows Phone Or a Nokia... Just let that sink in... They thought all android phones were made by Samsung. I literally almost murdered them on the spot.
I must assume they have iphones, and they have been using iphones for a long time, and whenever they break an iphone they get a new iphone. Iphone. Did i mention iphone? You dont usually see many commercials for android coming from any company other than samsung so yeah...there's a reason for what happened there, but i facepalmed pretty hard.

10 years ago when Galaxy Note 4 was the phone with the largest screen at 4.7 inches. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra must have been a beast with a screen size of 6'9. What a world of technology.

I have one and it's far better looking than anything on the market, completely waterproof, front facing speakers, HUGE battery, very thin, mature design, 32gb stock and micro sd, aluminum frame, amazing camera and did I mention it's sexy? Agree, i don't get why Samsung phones are still so over rated. Even a friend of mine she went to ship a phone this weekend, she always own Samsung phones and all of then died on her. She found a G3 with better price but she pick up the S5
You're on Android; feel free to use a different launcher. As much hate as Samsung gets for Touchwiz, their phones still perform reliably and last a long time, not to mention Samsung's made significant improvements to it over the years. They have great developer support for those looking to root and install custom ROMs, and have great cameras as well. I don't like Touchwiz either, but I'm not going to hate on the entire phone when I have the means to avoid what I don't like even without rooting.
1300l Not to mention that Samsung installs the most bloatware. Okay out of the box fine, but with each additional update you get more bloat. With the 4.4.4 update I get Uber and Keeper which I of course immediately give a one star rating. You want to join the "I deleted Uber from my phone" protest over their recent bad behavior? Well no not if you have a Samsung phone because we can't uninstall Uber. I hate Samsung so much.
Tom Dauria I know what you mean, i used to own a Samsung device and i never seen so much bloatware in my life and visual interface changes who made the experience worse just for the sake of "be different". Also you can use another launcher as the guy say..But under the hood it still is running the useless crap from touchwiz and the performance is just poor for the specs. After it i own an LG phone and now i'm with a Motorola one...I know i will NEVER go back to Samsung and it is the only Android brand i will never own again.

This time I don't agree with all of Marques' statements. I don't know, for me Marques doesn't really sound that honest in this video, like he's trying to really justify his statements just to get more fans. So like, in his last videos, he isn't really a tech-geek anymore, he's more like a marketing / political person. His judgement isn't really that neutral / original anymore, not really based on all aspects that are neutrally equally well-portioned. I do even find that Marques just follow the trend of people, with other words, to get more fans. I have to say it's so disappointing... But hey, it's only my opinion. Maybe he's too busy with his university life and is so much under pressure to produce many videos; however I'd still love to see an original mind. But so is the real world right, you don't easily get original minds, people are blocked with trends, with the opinions of other people that aren't necessarily true, with money, and so on... Marques, if you read this, consider my words.

He made a claim as to why each individual phone was the best of each category provided data/facts and ended with a warrant for each phone to tie it all together, seems to make sense to me. I obviously don't know everything about him, but at least I go in depth with every video of Marques, and also other tech review-videos. For me, the claims he made to each phone aren't so 'geeky' anymore, even a little bit too abstract, at least in this video. Especially with how he goes with the iPhone 6 (and plus). Just as Dj Mustachio said, his videos are becoming too unbiased. But again hey, maybe it's just me.
Beat ya haha still watch in nov 2018 Surprisingly in late 2018....out of all these phones from 2014 ..... note 4/note edge and Oneplus one hold up value the best from my observance in ebay ..... Nexus 6 can still root with custom android 9.0 pie rom which makes performance and battery life better ..... works even better with Oneplus one ..... performance (apps opening and games in general) is even better than iPhone 6/6 plus ......also moto x 2nd gen .......
The Oneplus One will be available to consumers in Q2 2015(Feb/March time). Trust me, this phone is worth the wait, I have it and it does everything that I want it to do(Gaming, music, browsing, everything). You name it, it does it, and damn well better than some other phones on the market that are way more expensive. The Cyanogen mod that it has boosts performance by a mile, and lets you customize anything, up to the point where you can customize the boot animation of the phone! The only negative thing I'd have to say would be that, the black version of it(if scratched) will show the scratches and they are quite visible, so just be sure to buy a case as soon as possible. Cheap price(£279/$436), amazing quality, fast processor(Snapdragon 805), the Oneplus One has to be my favorite phone of 2014!
Chirag Bhatia that apparently is an issue with a few consumers( not with me though), but Oneplus are releasing updates every week or so that are fixing these issues, so be sure to update you phone when they come, trust me all these issues will dissapear!
Well thanks. The updates aren't as prolific as you say though. I think oneplus has their hands full with business management. It's a great phone indeed.
White Hot Not all of them. Stats aren't the reason my nearly 1 year old HTC One M8 runs faster than every galaxy s5(also nearly one year old) I've ever seen. It has to do with the software as well. Don't make generalizations about large population bases(like the users of Android). For example, I don't say all iPhone users are stupid, or that they make bad life choices.
I usually don't but every time I watch a cell phone comparison video, all I see are android users and fans bashing iPhone users. I don't get why because our preference is different than there's, because of meaningless tenth of a second numbers, that were "brainwashed" or "sheep". It's like the word preference was never taught to them. Trust me, I'm always the first to debunk generalizations as well.
Enhanced user experience is the big deal. HTC dominates that area. Apple is simplicity from having less options. For experienced smartphone users iPhone are often more cumbersome to navigate.
I have actually an Sony xperia z2 and I am very happy with it: the qualcom snapdragon 801 is really fast and does everything I throw on it, I don't have a large hand but I can still write with one hand on it, in fact I wrote this with one hand. The software is also nice, I love the fact that it has a built-in screen recorder with face camera. The battery life is also very good, in fact it lasts 2 days for me, and I game a lot and watch a lot of videos on it. So I think it is very underrated, giving the fact that it is very cheap since the Z3 came out, which has the same specs.
I work in an smartphones shop and I have used all top brands phones and Sony Z2 and Z3 are one of the best , I think both phones are at the top 5 smartphones now , it doesn't have lagging like Samsung phones and it's really a high quality built smartphones , but the thing is that Sony aren't much into making fake commercials such as Samsung and HTC and some other brands , and people like Marques might be paid from samsung to say good things about their products , since he have over 2 Million subscribers .

I picked up the iPhone 6 a week ago and I love it so much. The camera is good, fingerprint sensor is quick, and it is so fast on iOS 9.3.1. No regrets.

I know you prefaced your " Best of 2014 " award " with, " this is just my opinion ", but when you said the HTC M8 gets the win, I just about projectile vomited all over my monitor. I thought for sure you were going to say the Note 4. I'll preface this with, This is just my opinion and developed this opinion by using the M8, its an awful device. Its super slippery, the lock button being on the top right I think is the least ergonomic place possible to put the lock button, I think the inch of wasted space (speaker, big ugly black bar with nothing but "HTC" on it, onscreen buttons then your dock buttons) before you get to usable screen real estate is ridiculous, It is too tall and narrow, the ultra pixel whatever camera is a bust ( with rumors that HTC is going to ditch the idea altogether on the M9 by using a traditional camera sensor ) taking away the ability to have OIS. Really the only thing going for the M8 that I can think of that was better than the M7 was a removable sd card slot. You couldn't pay me to use an M8 as my daily driver. With that said, people are going to hate on this comment, but this is how I feel about the M8 after using it. FWIW, my daily is a Note 4, only reason the Note 4 is my DD over the Nexus 6 is because the Note 4's camera software is simply better.

I've had the M8 for several months, and it's hands down the best phone I've ever owned. Before that, my M7 was the best I've owned. I can't say I agree with anything you just said lol. So glad you're not the one reviewing these phones, because your standards are pretty messed up, as evidenced by the fact that MKBHD's opinions on the One M8 are shared by quite a few others.
You have a valid point on the slipperiness but honestly, I would sacrifice the height of the phone for the amazing speakers any day and this was best overall smartphone. Not best phablet which fill up a large niche in smartphones. I love my m8. The feel in hand is amazing and if you care about your phone and don't have butterfingers, you'll be fine with the metal.

I'm watching this from the One M8 i recently got and I realized that this phone just isn't for me. Im gonna return it and get an iPhone 6 plus. Don't get me wrong this phone is awesome (Its insanely fast, the build quality is just gorgeous and the boom sound speakers...oh my...incredible) but I realized I'm more simple than that and an iPhone suits me more. I did come from an iPhone 5 and I do think IOS is better for me just because of the little things. I can live without widgets and all the cool things has to offer. If some android fanboy is going to bash my opinion just know that I still support android (not a hater) it's just that people sometimes don't need high end specs and the android benefits to be satisfied with their phone. :)
In the end I couldn't let the One M8 go. It's one hell of a phone tbh. The only thing I'll miss from my iPhone is the camera experience, other than that...ONE M8 FTW hahahah :D

I wouldn't say the Note 4 is his favorite because he really doesnt like touchwiz, but I do agree with you about it not being a "my" top five of the year. It was more of a "what I would recommend to everybody top five." The nexus is probably hard to recommend because of how big it is.

If you truly want to get the best utility out of a phone , the best user experience the HTC ONE M8 is the king.The smoothest phone ever with great looks and GOD THOSE SPEAKERS!! 10 reasons to get an iPhone 1- it's very simple 2- it can not get viruses 3- it has a great camera 4- it's very slick 5- it has a great operating system 6- almost every carrier has it 7- you can have a finger print scanner 8- it's not super expensive 9- it's very reliable 10- it's compatible with a lot of things

Granted iMessage's data messaging is nice, but Google is trying to push out a data messaging app or update to hangouts, and hangouts already has emojis.

I have one and it's far better looking than anything on the market, completely waterproof, front facing speakers, HUGE battery, very thin, mature design, 32gb stock and micro sd, aluminum frame, amazing camera and did I mention it's sexy? Wish TMobile got the other colors...

You're on Android; feel free to use a different launcher. As much hate as Samsung gets for Touchwiz, their phones still perform reliably and last a long time, not to mention Samsung's made significant improvements to it over the years. They have great developer support for those looking to root and install custom ROMs, and have great cameras as well.
I don't like Touchwiz either, but I'm not going to hate on the entire phone when I have the means to avoid what I don't like even without rooting.

Not to mention that Samsung installs the most bloatware. Okay out of the box fine, but with each additional update you get more bloat. With the 4.4.4 update I get Uber and Keeper which I of course immediately give a one star rating. You want to join the "I deleted Uber from my phone" protest over their recent bad behavior? Well no not if you have a Samsung phone because we can't uninstall Uber. I hate Samsung so much.

I know what you mean, i used to own a Samsung device and i never seen so much bloatware in my life and visual interface changes who made the experience worse just for the sake of "be different". Also you can use another launcher as the guy say..But under the hood it still is running the useless crap from touchwiz and the performance is just poor for the specs.
After it i own an LG phone and now i'm with a Motorola one...I know i will NEVER go back to Samsung and it is the only Android brand i will never own again.

This time I don't agree with all of Marques' statements. I don't know, for me Marques doesn't really sound that honest in this video, like he's trying to really justify his statements just to get more fans. So like, in his last videos, he isn't really a tech-geek anymore, he's more like a marketing / political person. His judgement isn't really that neutral / original anymore, not really based on all aspects that are neutrally equally well-portioned. I do even find that Marques just follow the trend of people, with other words, to get more fans. I have to say it's so disappointing... But hey, it's only my opinion. Maybe he's too busy with his university life and is so much under pressure to produce many videos; however I'd still love to see an original mind. But so is the real world right, you don't easily get original minds, people are blocked with trends, with the opinions of other people that aren't necessarily true, with money, and so on... Marques, if you read this, consider my words.

Surprisingly in late 2018....out of all these phones from 2014 ..... note 4/note edge and Oneplus one hold up value the best from my observance in ebay ..... Nexus 6 can still root with custom android 9.0 pie rom which makes performance and battery life better ..... works even better with Oneplus one ..... performance (apps opening and games in general) is even better than iPhone 6/6 plus ......also moto x 2nd gen .......

The Oneplus One will be available to consumers in Q2 2015(Feb/March time). Trust me, this phone is worth the wait, I have it and it does everything that I want it to do(Gaming, music, browsing, everything). You name it, it does it, and damn well better than some other phones on the market that are way more expensive. The Cyanogen mod that it has boosts performance by a mile, and lets you customize anything, up to the point where you can customize the boot animation of the phone! The only negative thing I'd have to say would be that, the black version of it(if scratched) will show the scratches and they are quite visible, so just be sure to buy a case as soon as possible.
Cheap price(£279/$436), amazing quality, fast processor(Snapdragon 805), the Oneplus One has to be my favorite phone of 2014!

Chirag Bhatia that apparently is an issue with a few consumers( not with me though), but Oneplus are releasing updates every week or so that are fixing these issues, so be sure to update you phone when they come, trust me all these issues will dissapear!

Android fans swear that stats are the whole experience.
White Hot Not all of them. Stats aren't the reason my nearly 1 year old HTC One M8 runs faster than every galaxy s5(also nearly one year old) I've ever seen. It has to do with the software as well. Don't make generalizations about large population bases(like the users of Android). For example, I don't say all iPhone users are stupid, or that they make bad life choices.
I usually don't but every time I watch a cell phone comparison video, all I see are android users and fans bashing iPhone users. I don't get why because our preference is different than there's, because of meaningless tenth of a second numbers, that were "brainwashed" or "sheep". It's like the word preference was never taught to them. Trust me, I'm always the first to debunk generalizations as well.
Enhanced user experience is the big deal. HTC dominates that area. Apple is simplicity from having less options. For experienced smartphone users iPhone are often more cumbersome to navigate.

I have actually an Sony xperia z2 and I am very happy with it: the qualcom snapdragon 801 is really fast and does everything I throw on it, I don't have a large hand but I can still write with one hand on it, in fact I wrote this with one hand. The software is also nice, I love the fact that it has a built-in screen recorder with face camera. The battery life is also very good, in fact it lasts 2 days for me, and I game a lot and watch a lot of videos on it. So I think it is very underrated, giving the fact that it is very cheap since the Z3 came out, which has the same specs.
Did I mention that it comes with front facing stereo speakers?
I work in an smartphones shop and I have used all top brands phones and Sony Z2 and Z3 are one of the best , I think both phones are at the top 5 smartphones now , it doesn't have lagging like Samsung phones and it's really a high quality built smartphones , but the thing is that Sony aren't much into making fake commercials such as Samsung and HTC and some other brands , and people like Marques might be paid from samsung to say good things about their products , since he have over 2 Million subscribers .

I picked up the iPhone 6 a week ago and I love it so much. The camera is good, fingerprint sensor is quick, and it is so fast on iOS 9.3.1. No regrets.

I know you prefaced your " Best of 2014 " award " with, " this is just my opinion ", but when you said the HTC M8 gets the win, I just about projectile vomited all over my monitor. I thought for sure you were going to say the Note 4. I'll preface this with, This is just my opinion and developed this opinion by using the M8, its an awful device. Its super slippery, the lock button being on the top right I think is the least ergonomic place possible to put the lock button, I think the inch of wasted space (speaker, big ugly black bar with nothing but "HTC" on it, onscreen buttons then your dock buttons) before you get to usable screen real estate is ridiculous, It is too tall and narrow, the ultra pixel whatever camera is a bust ( with rumors that HTC is going to ditch the idea altogether on the M9 by using a traditional camera sensor ) taking away the ability to have OIS. Really the only thing going for the M8 that I can think of that was better than the M7 was a removable sd card slot. You couldn't pay me to use an M8 as my daily driver. With that said, people are going to hate on this comment, but this is how I feel about the M8 after using it. FWIW, my daily is a Note 4, only reason the Note 4 is my DD over the Nexus 6 is because the Note 4's camera software is simply better.

I've had the M8 for several months, and it's hands down the best phone I've ever owned. Before that, my M7 was the best I've owned. I can't say I agree with anything you just said lol. So glad you're not the one reviewing these phones, because your standards are pretty messed up, as evidenced by the fact that MKBHD's opinions on the One M8 are shared by quite a few others.
You have a valid point on the slipperiness but honestly, I would sacrifice the height of the phone for the amazing speakers any day and this was best overall smartphone. Not best phablet which fill up a large niche in smartphones. I love my m8. The feel in hand is amazing and if you care about your phone and don't have butterfingers, you'll be fine with the metal.
The metal is actually pretty durable too. I've been using mine bare for around 6 months now and can't see any visible scratches.

I'm watching this from the One M8 i recently got and I realized that this phone just isn't for me. Im gonna return it and get an iPhone 6 plus. Don't get me wrong this phone is awesome (Its insanely fast, the build quality is just gorgeous and the boom sound speakers...oh my...incredible) but I realized I'm more simple than that and an iPhone suits me more. I did come from an iPhone 5 and I do think IOS is better for me just because of the little things. I can live without widgets and all the cool things has to offer. If some android fanboy is going to bash my opinion just know that I still support android (not a hater) it's just that people sometimes don't need high end specs and the android benefits to be satisfied with their phone. :)

I know people will say you dont need them that much.But trust me.Once you get used to having BOOMSOUND you would never wanna go back.And the camera gets my job done.I have been using flagship phones for about 3 years now.
