    Do you wait after applying caulking until it is paint ready? Alex Plus says paintable in 30 mins. So you wait 30 mins, paint, then remove immediately after paint?

    Beautiful results! If you don't mind me asking, what is the finish on the trim? High gloss? Semi-gloss?

    Great tip Spencer, Ive looked at the website of DAP, there are a few clear caulk's to view, which one do you use for this application for under the cove detail, I live in ENGLAND so I will have to order from USA or other, as we don't seem to have clear caulk here Cheers Mark

      I need to paint ceiling and walls and looks like I will have to tape the whole crown molding to avoid splashing paint. Can I use regular blue tape? Should I also use clear silicon or that is just for painting crown molding.

    Great tip about using clear caulk! All the clear caulk I have found says to wait until the caulk has cured before painting, which seems to be typically 7-14 days (I did not realize until I started looking that clear caulk vs white caulk has different curing times, even within the same brand/type). I’m guessing you are either waiting this long for the caulk to cure, are painting it before it’s cured, or have found a clear caulk that is paintable in a shorter time? Which caulk are you using?

    Couldnt you just apply the tape and then wet it after so it seales the tape better and give you straight lines still? I saw this in another video where dampening the tape with a small towel achieves the same result and no need for any additional clear caulk to get the job done.

      Hmmmm. Tape with “wet lock” technology would seal the issue but not with just any tape. No. Plus, I use the tape with wet lock technology, and it still comes through. I’m sticking with caulk.

    What about the second coat? You need to retape?

    • @spencercolgan
      @spencercolgan  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Apply first coat. 5 mins later. Apply second. Pull tape immediately
