Hi crowbcat
Remake is trash, seethe plebbit
Sorry you're dealing with this nonsense, duder. I appreciated the video, you stay you.
Old is gold. Nothing beats the original.
The attitudes in crowbcats comments slowly shifting to negative in favor of soulless modern gaming indicates to me that the great games like RE4 original are mostly things of the past
Very curious what crowbcats favorite game of the last 5 years or so is
Not having the evil guy say "Resident Evil 4" truly is a crime
how do you know he was evil?
Resident Evil! Foouurr! AGAIN!
Actually you could have him say it once you purchased the "Original Soundtrack" for like a couple of bucks.
The point is that you shouldn't have to pay extra money for things that should be in the game. Even with the classic soundtrack many tracks are missing and serenity still doesn't play unless you're actually in the merchants menu. It used to be so calming in og having that track play when you're near the merchant. Hopefully they fix it with a patch.
@@Mike_The_Fox You can turn on the original sound effects in the settings including the guy saying "Resident Evil 4."
Love how chill Leon is in the OG, not exactly nonchalant but confident that nothing will go wrong and he will find a way
Same!
They ruined it
That's what government agencies like the CIA or the secret services train your mindset to be, that's why og Leon is more accurate than the broody PTSD remake Leon. It is not that og Leon has not PTSD he was simply trained to hide it deep inside of him to be focused on his missions. He uses humor as a coping mechanism to not get overwhelmed just so he can continue to have everything under control. That's why he often allows himself to chill and joke with the villains, cause he knows that if he pisses them off, they'll eventually make mistakes, making his mission easier. And that's why in the og Ada calls Leon a genius
But it's not realistic for a survival horror situation. The feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are an important factor for horror to increase tension and anxiety. I gauss you don't watch horror movies?
Same, wish they had kept that
It wasn't the tecnology. Essentially it was the attention to details and art direction that made the original RE4 one of the greatest games in history
Better technology but less passion.
Game design hasn’t hardly changed in the last 20 years. All they have no is more polygons and better resolutions. We’re seeing now that the PS2 generation was absolutely stacked with brilliance, and games today rarely stack up.
It was also the technology, RE4 was very ahead of it's time for a console game.
Also the remake has the screen constantly wobble during EVERY. SINGLE. CUTSCENE.
It's beyond pitiful.
Once you notice it, you can't come back.
It's not one of the greatest games in history lol
The audio in the original is perfect. There is always tension in the air even when no enemies are around.

What made the Del Lago secret death animation so terrifying in OG RE4 is that it happened in REAL TIME in game. The game didn’t freeze for a split second for the script to go through or anything, no loading screen, it just killed you right there.
I remember first doing that years ago and I felt my soul almost rip out of my body lmao. The loud roar, the huge splash of water, the big CHOMP, so unforgettable.
i'm positive on the remake overall but that was definitely something they dropped the ball on, the new cutscene is just clunky and not scary
SAME I was just tryna shoot some fish 💀💀💀 the remake one feels janky and out of place
This was the first scene I felt the remake lacks in style comparing to the original. Then I started seeing the other issues.
Lets talk about the real problem, which is the wokeness of this sjw soy milk game which is resident wokevil 4 demake.
@@AyanoTheApathetic you’re one of those people. Tell me what makes the game “woke”. The best part is everytime I ask people about this they give me the same question and they give me the same dumb response. Capcom isn’t woke by any means they are a Japanese company they don’t follow politics like the other crazy Americans that let that rule their life.
"Guess there's no sex discrimination here" Got me 😂
Goes to show that making things dark is not the only thing that makes good horror
What is up with Capcom with the remakes man ?!! ._.
They are looking for lowest common denominators but they are still carried by some skillful employees I believe
The sound designer in RE4 OG, Yoshihiko Wada, made very sure to to make every sound in the game satisfying. He went out of his way to make every gunshot sound cool, and even make both of Leon's individual footsteps sound unique based on what surface each is walking on. The man had insane talent and passion.
The remake, while I still think is fantastic, absolutely lacks in sound design in comparison.
What makes a great survival horror game is its sound design, atmosphere, tension and attention to detail. Its like what the dead space director Glen Schofield said about dead space, It has more impact. The cutscene and facial animations were much better in the original. That is one of the things that makes the remake soulless. The cutscenes and facial animations even the choreography was better in the original. Voice acting is great overall in both games, except Ada’s Voice Actor is horrible for anyone who has acting experience they would know.

It’s quite amazing how well the original holds up. I thought most of my memory of the visuals were just nostalgia, but seeing this made me realize how it looked better than many of the games of the proceeding generation. Truly a landmark in gaming history.
You should see how well it holds up with the HD Texture pack. I think most importantly it holds up even better gameplay wise though. IMO it's significantly more fun and more responsive even though you can't move while shooting.
Because the core gameplay of Resident Evil 4 OG is still the standards in modern 3rd person shooter games, minus a few things like quick weapon swap and the ability to move while aiming. It's the first game that got it right. I just finished the Remake and honestly it was very good, and the core gameplay was more or less the same as the OG.
Not to mention it came out around the time of Halo 2, Half Life 2, Metroid Prime 2, Doom 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, GTA San Andreas, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and God of War just to name a few and still beat most of the them and was able to be equal to Half Life 2 and narrowly beating Halo 2 and San Andreas in my opinion. The only competition this remake has is Dead Space Remake, Baldurs Gate 3 and Elden Ring which are good games but not as good as the ones from 2004, 2005. Plus the remake could never beat the original because it needs the original in the first place as the basis.
@@ROCKSTAR3291people are complaining about the changes in the remake, but honestly I like the new direction and the consistency of the remakes. The original was fun and charming, but much like most games of that era, it was goofy, and the videogame medium is trying to move forward with its quality of writing/acting/cinematography/etc. During the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era, developers were walking into uncharted territory and they were clearly winging it.....Take Kojima for example. You can clearly see the growth he's gone through since his first MGS on PS1. He learned a lot throughout his journey and it shows....Remakes are supposed to be a refinement of the original, we can't expect them to retain the same corniness that was due to inexperience, no matter how fond of it we are!

I love how in RE, they use music to make the player feel a sense of relief and safety. Just hearing the safe room music makes you feel a massive sense of assurance. It gets imprinted onto the player throughout the game because you go from high stress situations to suddenly being safe from all the danger. In RE4 the music when you approach the merchant area 5:16 becomes a kind of therapy. @@titanmax111 Its a great game, but do not replace the original, same goes for RE2-3 Remake
@@titanmax111 Agreed!
@@titanmax111exactly i love re4 i love re4r but for different reasons, if u want balls to the walls crazy chesse b movie play the og, if u want a actual sequel to re2r leons story with little toned down cheese and a little more focus on the relationships play the remake. Both loved but both totally different games only held together really by some set pieces and the plot of both games
Everything in the remake sounds super compressed
I can't believe they cut the U3 boss fight
I can’t believe almost nobody’s talking about it. I’m sure it’ll be in Separate Ways but it’s not the same. I loved the whole game but I just felt disappointment after beating it, realizing they weren’t holding off on it until the last minute
They made it better
I'm sorry but they made it worse.
