For any new or young Metal Heads watching this. Its proof that you don't have to play 1000 mph. to be heavy. This shit is bad as fuck! Super distorted deep guitars, super over driven bass, and it doesn't get any heavier than this shit man..these fuckers are badddd.
Slayer is a very bad example, they DO play at 1000mph. Also Celtic Frost began in 1982 (over 3 decades ago). @Azazel Acheron Have you always been unable to think before you speak?
According to an interview with Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles in 2006, Reed St. Mark had other things going on at the time and could not commit to Celtic Frost, and Stephen basically fell off the grid after Vanity/Nemesis. Neither Tom nor Martin knew where he was, so they found Franco Sesa. If I had my way, it would have been Reed St. Mark on the drum stool, and Celtic Frost would STILL be reigning supreme.
i love celtic frost so much. been a fan since the start and even before with hellhammer. now following triptykon. i wish frost still be there. erol unala is cool. i hope they come back someday again.
maniaque37 Erol Urnala is cool huh! I really like the influence he had on certain songs in Monotheist. I wish Erol played live with Celtic Frost. Do you know if Erol is in a band nowadays?
Yosemite Sam I dont know him personally but i like that he did regarding music. I think he should still be with Warrior band and i dont know why he is not. He seems to be a simple guy. I sent him a few messages and he was kind to answer and was very cool.
maniaque37 How did you get in contact with Erol? I am a fan of his guitar playing, and I always wanted to get in contact with him to know how the making of one of my favorite albums, Monotheist, was made. What I know about Erol not being in Celtic Frost anymore is on a interview I read about spending time with his own wife and kids, and not going along with the dark concept the band had for the album since Tom G Warrior said that Erol was getting uncomfortable with how they thought about the world, something like that. He's working at something technical computer engineering type of career in Zurich, from what I heard.
Essa bateria parece um tiro! Martin Eric Ain melhor contrabaixista da história do metal extremo! Dia 10 de setembro verei o Hellhammer ao vivo! Nos vemos por lá!
@SludgePunkGrunge According to an interview with Tom right after Triptykon formed and released the first record, Franco Sesa started claiming he is responsible for all the success Celtic Frost has ever had over the years. Closer to the end of Celtic Frost, Sesa started treating Tom and Martin like shit, and Tom said he left before shit broke down to physical confrontations.
He might have been an asshole, but he was a fantastic drummer. I love Sesa's playing on this performance, the Monotheist album and indeed when they played old material live. Reed is a legend but I don't think he could drum to this standard.
It took a long time for Monotheist to grow on me, but it's become one of my favorite albums. It also seems like the first Triptykon record is a missing second disc to this one, they go together so well.
They didn't break up solely because of the drummer. Relationships between all of the members were starting to grow sour. They didn't enjoy playing live much anymore near the end of their reign and they were butting heads a lot.
I'm not saying he's not a fantastic drummer, but he is the reason Celtic Frost is no more. And I would certainly disagree with you about Reed St. Mark, but to each his own. I think the one thing we can ALL agree on is that Celtic Frost is and always bee a bad ass band
How can you ever surpass Monotheistic. Anything after that would be pointless. Happy they ended it there. As much as I'd love to see em live, Martin is dead, Thomas is with Triptykon and Hellhammer
@theogofextreme never mind. I heard he bad mouthed Tom pretty badly (interview with Tom frmo last novermber on rock dailys channel). But yea if you have some info on his involvement in the band breaking up that would be cool.
Listen to their albums especialy "Into Pandemonium". They were first extreme metal band to use a lot of Classical Instruments like horns, drums and cymbals, Big Choirs and most importantly experimentation. Thats why they became succesfull. They were the first of their kind and they have inspired of other early Extreme Prog metal bands like Voivod, Coroner and Mercyful Fate/King Diamond.
@insightfloww I'm not saying he's not a fine drummer. What I'm saying is that Franco Sesa is DIRECTLY responsible for the second Celtic Frost breakup. According to both Tom G. Warrior AND Martin Eric Ain, he started trying to rule it all and tell them both what to do. Celtic Frost is, was, and will always bee Tom and Martin, bottom line.
Can´t say I haven´t tried my best for Tom Frost to do this one live ( on this last Celtic Frost tribute tour) . Not that I wasn´t perfectly aware that the set was just comprised of those 1st two Eps and the debut or anything ... point having been : I had Martin (that much I owe him ) to honour that day : ...no ...matter ...what . Judging by the performance the band put up once "the interference " begun taking effect I reckon the band didn´t mind the playfulness with certain energies which will condition the whole .
Google certainly agrees with you, but surely Elohim is a plural word, so the translation should be 'no gods'? Could anyone who speaks Hebrew shed any light on this?
Martin screaming "Ain Elohim" will stay forever in my mind. Rest in Peace!
It's SO fucking sad...
They cut off the start where he says "there is no gaaaawwwd"
"There is no God," preceded "Ain Elohim" in the original version of this performance. The edit detracts from the initial impact.
He was such a force on Bass.
I don't get tired of watching this. Hail Celtic Frost!
It's fucking Bad as fuck isn't it. Fucking super Heavy
All the most legendary things were given to us by the Swiss. Celtic Frost, Roger Federer, chocolate, banking system
I'm pretty sure the banking system was invented in Italy, i don't care about tennis, but Celtic Frost and chocolate truly are a swiss blessing!

"Monotheist"... for me? Celtic Frost opus magnum. Heavy, Dark and Satanic as hell. Best of the best. Hail Celtic Frost!
It took a long time for Monotheist to grow on me, but it's become one of my favorite albums. It also seems like the first Triptykon record is a missing second disc to this one, they go together so well.
What can you say about the artist who sang rearranging poems of Baudelaire back at 80's???? Tom=genius
They didn't break up solely because of the drummer. Relationships between all of the members were starting to grow sour. They didn't enjoy playing live much anymore near the end of their reign and they were butting heads a lot.
They became a bullshit spandex band after their second album, then woke up one day and were so disgusted with themselves that they quit music.
Beautiful
that is so damn good.

@NihilismFrontward Mocking God Is Fun :)
“Ain Elohim” (Hebrew for “Eye of God”)
actually the meaning is "there is no god" in hebrew.
I got that translation from

I stand corrected, it is "no god"
. That makes sense given that Tom and Martin are atheists
