wolf played a good game here, took the ball early in some situations, put away shots. it just so happens theres a lot of other super athletic/active tennis players just edging out what weaker points he has vs top 50 players.
He's recovering from an injury. Left the tour quite a while. He's more a retriever anyhow, very good tactictian with a Jimmy Connors fighter spirit. But lacks power it's true, especially on serve
@@stef1074 The reason he originally left the tour is that he was suspended for 8 months, until March of last year, for missing 3 consecutive drug tests. It was originally to be an 18 months suspension, but he managed to convince the testing authorities that the 3rd missed test was not entirely his fault, and it was reduced. He did then have surgery on his wrist in May, but January of this year is the first time he's played since the suspension.
@@stef1074 i see a comparison to jimmy, not quite jimmy but definitely plays like hes swinging a steel racket. hes just no the most athletic kid and hes got compact shot making, humpbacked etc hes one of those players I'd never bet on, never saw what other top TV commentators US side have commented on.
Yeah brooksby's game always irking not very limber kind of limited ability would never bet on him and wolf is just trying to stay relevant in mainstream world rankings.
Until Brooksby gets a real serve, hits his groundies harder, and is more aggressive-minded, he's going nowhere. I had a better serve in college, and I'm 5'8".
Thats pretty much an alternative but worthy comment. Never liked brooksby's half hustle ability its like hes playing 1980's tennis and Wolf's game though still impressive, is kind of shallow and I think its a mix of tour players catching on and him just getting into extended rallies like he cant put away points. His stats say he is 6'0 but I'm calling bs he looks/moves/hits like hes at best 5'10 thats generous considering the muscle still makes him look short I mean like 5'8 or 9 short.
I love watching JJ Wolf. Amazing ball striking ability. Great match from both!!!
2:07 that slice serve is insane
Brooksby is shown doing it multiple times here but Wolf has more speed on his.
Good match! Nice to see Wolf playing well and Brooksby back in the game.
Always good to watch Wolfie.
Two of my favorite OGs
Looks like Wolf has learned to play tennis again. He hasn't looked great. Great quality tennis!!
Incredible 1st point of the match! I guess they warmed up beforehand😂
Serve is not even top 1000
I thought you must be exaggerating, but after watching, you're being generous 😮
thats a USTA amateur power serve.
Did not have Brooskby v. Wolf @ Cleveland 2025 on my future of American tennis bingo card. Talk about falling off. They clearly got WADA'd.
Brooksy is coming back after injury. JJ just turned sh*t last year.
@ Wolf = Temu Giron
@@andrewsmith-lt3sxi think you could be right. just a loss in physical form out of nowhere may have led to their confidence dropping too

I’m glad JJ won
Is Brooksby's serve an injury thing? It's too weak for the Tour.
His serve has always been shit

Roddick said the same thing. He even offered to work with him on it. He's had some big wins though, in spite of it.

they should both retire
