Always a blast getting to revive an old classic like this! The Duster turned out great and I can’t wait to see it back on the road! Don’t forget to check out the NEW Yard Geek video released today!!! Have a great weekend!
Couldn't stop myself. Had to watch the new Yard Geek video first. This was fun to watch to see a classic car get a wonderful clean up. I love the color since it was clearly original. GO Plymouth!!! 💜
Love the color!! I'm today's world cars are really only a handful of colors now. Black, grey, white, maybe a blue, or red. But you rarely see yellows or greens outside of super cars. I'd love to see these colors come back!
I just bought a 2022 lime green 4Runner TRD Pro, like 2 weeks ago!! I absolutely love it!! You're spot on, the colors these days are so boring and over done! Bring back fun, different colors!!
I think yellow and green cars would look weird compared to todays cars, but after getting used to them, i think the variety would be great, so i agree!
I always love seeing these old muscle cars in their original glory. That green was totally styling in the ‘70’s. Personally I love it, but then again I grew up in that era. The matching bench-style seats bring back memories. What a gem and what a transformation, Mitch!! You did a fabulous job bringing this 1973 time-capsule back to life. (Kudos for the nice retro music too).❤️
My first car was a 1973 Plymouth duster, but in Jade Green. But this one’s so close that it was amazing watching you detail it. Brought back a lot of great memories.
Man, I never get tired of seeing the work that goes into bringing back the life to the vehicles you work on. When I saw the foam hit that car body I knew it was going to be good.
It looks so much better. Great job. Good to see cars this old still running. Glad the owner lives in Canada with those vinyl seats. Here in Florida - way to hot to sit on in the summer.
I inherited my grandfather's 1973 Plymouth Duster the same color exterior (except for the black on the hood) as this one. The interior was all green with black carpet. He bought it brand new in 1973. Mine had the 225 slant six. When I sold it in about 1999-2000 or so, it was in very good unrestored condition. I lived in Arizona at the time and the car had always been in Arizona. It still had the original wheels and wheel covers. I had to sell it because I needed the money and knew I would never get around to restoring it.
My very first car was a 1973 Duster, very similar to the one in the video. Mine was also green -- but a dark, forest green, with a tiny bit of sparkle (and white pinstripes). The interior was whitish-beige vinyl. I bought it for $300 in 1990, and drove it up and down the west coast, and then across the country to New York City. I drove it daily in the city for a few years. It would have kept going if it weren't for the brakes, which were utterly shot. Young and broke, I couldn't afford to replace them. I shed a tear when they hauled her away :) Thanks for the trip down memory lane, and thanks for your channel. It's been on my "must watch" rotation for a while now.
50 year old carpet was thicker and lasts longer than we get now in new cars! The upholstery came up wonderfully! And real chrome! Great job as always 😊
51 years is a long time ago. This car was a muscle classic in it's time. I really like the original color, the green is so cool. I'm sorry but I did laugh that you accidentally dropped the pressure washer wand. We have ALL broken tools at times. That interior was a true dust bowl. Smart to wear the mask. Glad to know this beauty can be running again soon with a couple of tweaks. I do like how the vinyl seats matched the exterior so well. I agree it was bleach on those carpets, I recognize that weird brown color from spilling bleach on a carpet once. The seats that wouldn't come out is unfortunate, but you still did a great job. The bucket pour was espresso this time. Loving your work with the steamer, great results. This was great to watch and you really restored a classic, so summer will be more fun for the owner. Have a great weekend Mitch. Now off to watch the yard geek video at least once more. 💜💜💜#Mike4Mayor.
@@cynthiahopkins7090 I did the same thing. I wanted to know if any of the "joins" leaked where he connected all those hoses. He did a great job there. It was fun to watch. Have a great weekend!!!!
I love this shade of green. Car manufacturers need to get back to these 70s colors and do more color in the interiors than just grey, tan, or black. Some are doing red again but would be cool to see some greens or blues again.
Wow, from dust to almost a diamond! Too much rust at this point but you can see the finished project and she’ll be something special. First step: a Detail Geek cleaning to make it sparkle. I don’t mind the colour, we had a station wagon a similar colour as kids. Another great job, thanks for sharing!
Finally finished watching the video. That's a beautiful vehicle especially in its current state. All I'd do it remove the excessive rust and patina the rest. Great job!!!!
My best friend had a 73 “Gold Duster” back in the day. Great cars. You didn’t mention it, but one cool feature was the lay down back seat. I don’t know why more manufacturers didn’t embrace this feature. As for the color, the owner should definitely keep it. Old school!
Hello Mitch: Lovely job done on a lovely car. I agree with you, that the owner should get it running and enjoy it for the Summer. Have a restful weekend.
The color is what caught my eye, very nice, it's actually the reason i watched the entire episode, besides the fact your pretty sweet to look at yourself ❤ !!! 😊
Given the owner a nice clean canvas for it's restoration. I hope he keeps the colour, and takes the dash and the door cards back to the original green. It would be good to see the restoration and finished item.
It’s amazing to me that so many of these old cars for which you would have been laughed out of the high school parking lot in the 80s and 90s have become collectible and crazy expensive.
I didn’t like this color at all when I was young, but I’ve grown to appreciate this color (and many others) since I’ve matured. I’d be more than happy to own this today.
Love those classics with the color mirrored in the interior. 💚 A lot of work to put it back in shape but a good scrubbing is already making it look better.
I love that this old Plymouth got shown some love and will hopefully get restored to its former glory. You brought it back to life best you could and it looks absolutely amazing! I also personally really like the green color. 😜 and those seats look incredibly comfortable! Happy Friday, hope you have a nice weekend, Mitch! I’m off to watch the new Yard Geek video!!
Thank you for sharing this with us! I have not seen one of these in many years. I used to drive a 1968 Plymouth Fury III, in 1975. It was an ugly color too. I called it "Sea Weed" green. It also was green like this Duster..... Now I have to YT all about this car with more pictures! It's a Beauty Muscle Car!
When I was just a little boy my mother had a duster like this one, same green color, 8 cylinders. I have fond memories of riding around with it. It was rusty even back then though, the floor underneath the drivers side rusted out and there was a hole there by the foot pedal. Those old cars rust out too easily, it's great to see one that will be restored, and so well cleaned before the restoration. If I ever were to ride in one again I wouldn't have it any other color but that green.
That green is so cool, I really dig the patina on the hood. I think it would be cool to restore the other parts of the car because of the rust out and leave the patina on the hood?! It’s obviously not my car just my opinion!!
I love the seat colour, even when you first showed them all dusty. That carpet is great too. When I was little my dad had a 70s crew cab Chev Sierra-it was remarkably boring with a rust and cream exterior and a cream interior-and as soon as I saw those vinyl seats I flashed back to getting in the truck in shorts when it was hot, or sunny, or both.
Sounds like it'd be worth keeping a small checklist for people doing old car restorations. "can i break this bolt off if i need to get the seats out" being one of the questions... I feel like if he's restoring it, he'd be taking it out anyway, so you breaking it out wouldn't be a big deal. Also keeping some penetrating fluid for the rusty bolts could help. give them a spray before washing to let them soak in.
There was a dear couple that I knew growing up that went to a church that my dad pastored, and they drove a green Duster for many years. I’m excited to see this transformation
That brought back a lot of memories. When I was in highschool in the early 80's my friend had a Duster that same color and I had a red 71 Dodge Demon basically the same car.
Hello there Detail Geek. It is always so good to see you and to watch you clean these vehicles. You always know how to make something look like brand new. I've always enjoyed seeing old classic cars and trucks getting a new transformation. Thank you so very much for everything you do. Your hard work and dedication is outstanding 💪👍 enjoy your day and take care
The Duster is dusted no more. Really good transformation. I would be really nice when the owner to come back and show the completion of the restauration. Well done,
Nice work! I love your channel! You probably could have used the steamer on the seats. The door panels and dash pad were painted/dyed black. The interior on that car was probably all green. I like the exterior colour as well!
I owned the same make and model Duster back in the day and it was a cool car but it cost me a fortune to keep on the road and was glad to be done with it. color was gold so I called the gold duster
For a car that's 50+ years old and in original condition, not bad at all Mitch. I'm sure your customer will have a fun summer cruising around in that old Plymouth.
Interior bits like the dash and door panels have been dyed black. The green is the original color and it comes off pretty easy if the dye wasn't applied and sealed properly. Since it wasn't done right, even a mild cleaner will pull it off.
Next time you get the chance, try some fine steel wool on rusty chrome wheels, as well as any other hard to reach chromed areas. That's mostly what we'd use in the restoration shop I worked at.
Great job detailing w the back up spray wand. Old car seat bolts can be stubborn w the rust. Don’t mind the green color but I would paint it burgundy or black myself.
No matter what kind of vehicle wen comes to people book appointment to detail vehicles like this u manage to get the job done💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯my favourite always pressure washer n interior cleaner while watching this awesome job out there mitch 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌟
I don't mind the pea green color, it's authentic to it's time frame, and that's actually important to keep in maintaining value in restorations of any kind, whether it's a car or a house or a piece of furniture. The finished restoration needs to be as "stock" as it can be, so many folks make the mistake of "upgrading" a classic, which in many cases can actually de-value the original piece. The Duster was actually one of the many cars I lusted after in my mid-teen years, had the same kinda "swoopy" body styling as a lot of other cars I admired at the time and which I still admire to this day. Maybe it's just me, but design lines of a car mean a great deal to me and play a very big role in whether of not I'd ever consider owning one. I love curves and fluid lines in car bodies, and dislike sharp edges and/or boxy shapes.
First, I always like seeing you working on older cars. I don't mind this color or the green interior -- very unique, and something we don't see in newer cars. I think the white strips sets off the color nicely. And, as always, you did a great job. With respect to the black rubbing off the door panels, my guess is that they had been dyed black using vinyl dye. Also, I've noticed on old cars that green carpet fades to brown, and brown carpet fades to green. I'm sure the owner will be very happy with your work!
I know you don't get a lot of Rusty chrome wheels come through your shop but for future reference an SOS pad will do absolute wonders to Rusty chrome Wheels without damaging them. Same goes for bumpers. And the green underneath the door panels is actually the original color, the dash and door panels have been painted somewhere along there life by someone who didn't like the green color which is very understandable
Love the color! Not something I would have ordered, but we live in a such a monochrome world as far as cars go it's fun to see this one wearing something other than white, grey, charcoal, and black. While I don't miss rocker panels rusting out like that, getting a car the way you wanted it by checking the boxes on the build sheet is something I miss. Now you get to buy whatever happens to be on the lot. I hope he brings it back to original specification!
Always a blast getting to revive an old classic like this! The Duster turned out great and I can’t wait to see it back on the road!
Don’t forget to check out the NEW Yard Geek video released today!!! Have a great weekend!
You have a great weekend as well.
Yeah after years it has been dirty, and now it looks better when you clean it detail geek you have a good time and a great weekend bye bye.
Love the videos

You should ask the owner of this Duster to do a TH-cam channel for his restoration. Would be awesome to watch!
Same thought here,would be awesome
true i would watch
Yes, I agree 👍
That would be awesome to watch it get restored
💯 agree. Love seeing old cars restored
Love the color!! I'm today's world cars are really only a handful of colors now. Black, grey, white, maybe a blue, or red. But you rarely see yellows or greens outside of super cars. I'd love to see these colors come back!

a 1978 caprice I believe was available in like 14 exterior and like 10 interior colors
I think it's avocado...I think our telephone was that color😂
I think yellow and green cars would look weird compared to todays cars, but after getting used to them, i think the variety would be great, so i agree!

This was fun to watch, as my first car was a '74 Duster, in metallic forest green and white interior with bucket seats.
'73, with the same exterior! Mine had bench seats, though (which were ugly, but useful during, em, romantic situations... lol)
How do you not love that 70s pea soup green? It’s a great color and car. Great job as always!
Please! That was avocado green, and it was hugely in style at the time. Along with copper and burnt orange. 💕🇨🇦
@@lynnjasen9727 LOL a food is a food
@@lynnjasen9727 Poo green?
The color looks like a military vehicle's dessert cammo.
Yes! The color is stunning ❤
I love seeing these older vehicles and the great work you always do. Nice to see another older vehicle be given another chance at life.
Man, I never get tired of seeing the work that goes into bringing back the life to the vehicles you work on. When I saw the foam hit that car body I knew it was going to be good.

She sounds absolutely beautiful! I love these cars
I had one almost the same as you described, but mine was a Dart Sport, young and dumb at the time, I lost control on an icy road
50 year old carpet was thicker and lasts longer than we get now in new cars! The upholstery came up wonderfully! And real chrome! Great job as always 😊
It is really nice and enjoyable to see those classic cars and trucks washed and detailed

Given the age and neglect of this car it cleaned up really well. I’m sure once the car is restored it’ll be even more of a beauty.
This is my all time favorite car! It makes me want my back. Tell the owner to baby this car!
I had a 1970 duster the exact color in and out of this one here. Had a slant six engine in it. Was one of my favorite cars I ever had, I miss it.
My father and his buddy drove across the country in this exact car during the summer of `79
Pity it wasn't 10 years earlier. Then he could have had a band and tried real hard
What engine is in this thing.
Maybe it was this car. In Sask?
Beautiful transformation. Love seeing OG cars. They really knew how to construct cars back then!! A HOF detail for sure!!

I hope he brings it back to original specification!
yesss , another old Car IS about To See The Streets again . Good Job man keep IT Up 👋✌️👍
