I walked past the Houses of Parliament yesterday while this demonstration was underway.
Due to road closures only in the immediate vicinity, Central London traffic was in in gridlock for miles around, cars, taxis and lorries in endless lines of idling vehicles, polluting the atmosphere in the worst possible way.
Is this the joined-up thinking of a rational group? I think not.
Add to that the spoliation of a 5000 year-old World Heritage site... Stonehenge... by unhinged Stop Oil protesters and one begins to wonder at the weaponisation of centuries of fiercely fought for rights and freedoms, seen only in the West.
Where is the line between freedom of protest and cynical sabotage?

I hope you;'re opposing the weeks iof gridlock that were caused by the London Olympics, the London marathon, the Rememberance sercvice, the Lord mayors Show, the Royal Occasionas, the Military Funerals and whenever someone like Sunak wants to tyour the city he now owns.
Or do you just hate wildlife and children?

@@chloegrobler4275 So, you think it was OK to desecrate a World Heritage Site?
Most thinking people were revolted, only the actual simple-minded like yourself imagine acts like this further your cause.

@summess5567 There is, and always has been, traffic disruption due to the traditions and celebrations that make Britain what it is. Disruptions due to protest are completely different to the traditions you appear so happy to dismiss.
Perhaps you would prefer to join forces with other like-minded people who would rather we ban all celebration. The last bunch who tried that ended up on a ship to Plymouth Rock and now form the bedrock of the Republican and fundamentalist right-wing "Christians" of the USA. We here can all see where that's going.

The decision to close the roqadway was NOT that of the organisers - they want to march along with the public and engage with their fellow Londoners.
It's the Tories that told the police to isolate the route from the public so that none of the citizens of the city got to see the Protest.
They do the same thing every time they have a Tory Conference in Manchester - they seal off the quasrter mile around the conference building with a 'ring of steel' (real barricades) and the taxpayers of manchester have to pay for police to be taken from their local communities to stand guard around that barricade.
Funny how the Sun has never complained about how that 'stops amublances and fire engines' isn't it.
The term for this Government policy is Cynical Sabotage.
      Now - tell me -
Why do you hate wildlife and nature so much?

With that protest there wont be a process, they like going to a music festival. In order for them to stop oil do not use things that works with oil, basically boycott of oil, be more natural with your living style.

this was not about stopping oil - its about the urgent need to PRIORITISE AND RESTORE NATURE - oil is one part of the problem

Honestly the best thing a British person can do to lower their country’s CO2 emissions is going against consumerism.

    • @ad_astra468
      @ad_astra468 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Just know though that the UK on its own is incapable of lowering CO2 emissions by a meaningful amount since it makes up less than 1% of global CO2 emissions.

The Oil Industry is pedalling the lie that 'No oil means lower standards of living'.
In fact, the opposite is true.
We don't 'save the planet' by turning the heating down, we save it buy ensuring our heating is powered by stuff which does NOT create CO2... and the same applioes to everything else.
A Green Economy means everyone except the superrt-rich have more and it's all a lot more relaxing, fairer and 'Human'. It's just the supert-rich who have to only have two super-yachts and only four luxury estates - not TEN.
Due to Oil propaganda, people are actually demanding they have LOWER stansdards of living =- like having to spend almost evertything they earn on Energy ... when that should be getting CHEAPER with every Renewable system that we build.
'Consumerism' - buying 'diosposable'stuff we don't even need because our lives are so miserable instead of having real things of value and a decent life - yeah, we have to get rid of that. It's killing people.
      Cheers!!
