Thanks man. it's good to listen to them both. The belt driven sounds less annoying

Great video. I own the exact same Blackridge direct drive compressor. It is very noisy but does its job. I use it to fill up my air tanks for my train horns. FAD is where the direct drive tends to suffer quite a bit. Belt drive is far superior in terms of flow rate and air delivery. Am thinking of purchasing a petrol compressor soon, though.

I lifted the 70kg Ingersoll Rand el17 I bought recently. And you're right, bit awkward. Great condition and about a grand less than new. Deal!

At 120V(portable horizontal 33Gal) my direct drive has the best CFM delivery I could find (6CFM/90psi and 9cfm/40psi) . And it was much cheaper then many belt driven that delivered less. If I want more CFM(I do) I'll have to go 240v.

Y have a 6 gallon 220v 2HP direct drive compressor spitting out 7cfm (220LPM) i am about the change it to a 12 gallon 3hp direct drive with 310 cfm but i am still thinking on 24 gallon 2hp. The thing is that I would paint in the front of my house and my workspace is in the back of the yard. So I think , portable and powerful is what I need.
i can't stand the little one being always on, due to high demand

my first compressor was direct drive but sold it after a few weeks, noise drove me mad..belt driven ones are way better noisewise and oil lubrication inside the engine is a must

Good job mate.. appreciate your effort ..but please try to compare apples with apples .. ( its quite obvious which one you are trying to persuade / market the product ) ..I am definitely buying the direct drive ....its got lot of best features and is less MAINTENANCE ..( this is where manufacturers make their money ..lol)..but anyhow thanks for all your effort

The major put off when it comes to air compressors is the noise factor. Belt driven is by far the better choice, the conventional one gets my neighbors riled up

Funny how redundant this is now with the silent compressors being common now

I looked at two models and the belt driven was overall lower performance than the cheaper direct drive.

Performance to performance Belt is more expensive, but you'd always prefer the *performance* of the belt in terms of sound and reliability.

Venting your tank through the release valve can be bad, the water and moisture from the tank can damage the valves mechanism making it unsafe. It's only desigbed to be used as a safety device.

primo, buy a 5hp ingersol rand t30 60-80 gallon 175 psi compressor , or any old school big compressor quincy or champion brand but make sure it pumps 175 psi
