I also enjoy this painting, perhaps not as his official portrait though. Too much red is unsettling. Though I suppose everything about Charles is unsettling.
It does look a little different when not a photograph. I have seen videos of it hanging in Philip Mould's gallery in Pal Mal, and there is so much more depth to it than can be seen in the photos.
@@TheArteryOnline I had not thought of that. Thank you for bringing that up. When I went to the Van Gogh exhibit in Detroit, Michigan, USA, I was astounded by how much more wonderful the paintings were in person.
Your opinion is valuable and your interpretation of ur feelings of the painting are shared by all of us who have love on our heart. The painting is evil and was requested to be painted that way.
It wasn't commissioned by the crown, but by Drapers Company, to celebrate Charles' 50 years as a member of it. So it isn't a royal commission, but just his first official commission.
I disagree with u. I dislike the painting. I do appreciate its honesty. His uniform isnt because he is a hero or warrior it highlights his perception of being above us, the useless eaters. After seeing the new king"HISS" like an animal AT a servant, Purchase Draculas home and seeing a naked man escape from the castle window, really paints the true character of the man. Devilishly evil and dam proud of it... there is no bigger "red flag warning " you could get then by seeing someone request to be painted in red flames with a monarch butterfly. Nice try gas lighting everybody lady.
You like it ? And you are the reason AI art is going to take over. Because this isnt art, its clearly someone rushing to finish a piece and who has very little skill. You artists, are ASKING to be replaced, you get that right ? Its time to put effort in, the free lunch is over.
I found the likeness correct, I felt the hands out of proportion, that could have been the fault of the red background bringing the hands forward, I found the portrait refreshing.
But most of Jonathan Yeo's works are like this, though. And if you see it on the wall of Philip Mould's Pal Mal gallery, there is so much more depth than the cameras can pick out. It isnt floating as much.
I have a love hate relationship with this portrait love Charles face. Love his uniform hinting Aviv of color. I might have liked it if it wasn't red. Makes the painting g foreboding and not strong. Funny juxtapose this one.
Yes I understand that. Although I did see an interview where the artist said the press had ramped up the colour saturation in their images to make it more eye catching. The real one is still on display in the Philip Mould Gallery in Pall Mall until the end of the month I think.
It’s a head displayed on a bloody battlefield.
I have become physically ill just seeing it!!!
Except he's a demon and the red represents our blood !
Yikes, its a blood bath!
He forgot the horns the fangs the tail and the twisted tormented face but hey it’s implied ✍🏻🎬👺🔥
It could have all the symbolism you have stated, but it looks like he is burning in hell
yes to you perhaps. I am merely talking about the original intention of th painting. What you see or infer is up to you.
I think it's a death omen.
An artery has been sliced open. Artist obviously h*tes the King.
Good or bad, the memes have been amazing 🤣

I know my opinion means nothing but I think it’s hideous.
Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. Art is there to be liked or disliked.

Idk... 'preeetty sure it means "blood for the blood god; skulls for the skull throne"... XD
Ask David Icke what the "butterfly" symbolises?
Monarch Mind Control...
Interesting choice of butterfly.... hmmm
I love the art. I think it’s a weird choice as a royal portrait, but I personally love it

WEIRD doesn’t begin to describe be! Nauseating!!!
You don’t know anything abt art, do you?

I love this portrait of the King.❤️
The Emperors New Cloths
i think its amazing. it’s like he’s standing in hell, blood and flames but he’s reaching out.
You entirely miss the point.
It is ugly and trying too hard.

The King has a medical condition that makes his hands swell. Apparently he calls it "sausage fingers".
@@zacmumblethunder7466 Huh. Cousin Andy's palms don't sweat. Falkland Syndrome...
Floating head. As a painter this the first or second stages of the painting process. I see this as unfinished

He looks dead
I love it.
I love it! And knowing that your king is very interested in art I think he does too 🙂

Awful.
Reminds me of art school feminists, using dye of the menses.
Yeo does beautiful work, very nice portrait of Charles. Nice review as well.
