Unterschiede zwischen Deutschland und Österreich in der Bahn?
Unterschied Nummer 1: In Österreich wird nicht mit der Bahn gefahren, sondern mit dem Zug.
Übrigens sagt der Mathias bei 4:16 raunzen und nicht ranzen ;)
I was in Austria in January in Linz with my daughter who is teaching English with the Austrian bilingual classroom initiative. We found the public transport very good and reasonable. It ran on time despite the snow. I like the Austrian accent as well.

Ich war einmal im Zug und eine Frau neben mir fragte mich, wenn ich mein Gepäck bewegen würde. Dann fragte ich zu ihr, warum sie ihr Gepäck bewegte nicht?, und zeigte mit meinem Finger auf ihre Kinder. Selbstverständlich, sie lachte nicht.

First of all, I've been really eager to learn german for a few months, and I find your youtube channel an amazing tool to do it, since I live in Mexico and we don't have any german-speaking country nearby. So thanks a lot!!!
Once in Brussels, during travelling through europe, I had to go to the airport to take a flight (I'm mexican so I'm not used to travel by train, neither with the european transportation systems) so I caught the train from the city center to the airport. I had been having troubles with my debit card the night before and I didn't have enough cash even for breakfast, so with the only money I had I bought the supposed ticket. I enjoyed a lot the short train trip a lot.Then, when I arrived to the airport I needed to insert my train ticket into the turnstile but it didn't work so a policeman told me that I had bought the wrong ticket, that it was a bus ticket so he had the duty to send me back to the city and I had to catch the bus from there, since my ticket was a bus one. So I felt really sad because I had skipped breakfast and had no cash left and my debit card wasn't working and my flight was about to depart. I was nearly about to cry, but the policeman smiled and told me it was a joke, and finally let me into the airport and I finally breathed with ease.
(Maybe this Geschichte is a little simple but I don't have many ;) )

Ich war letztes Jahr in einem Zug von Münster nach Essen, und der Zugfahrer hat eine Durchsage gemacht, und zwar um uns zu erzählen, dass es draußen Feuerwerke gab und wir sollten alle zuschauen weil sie so schön waren! Es war die schönste Durchsage!

ein Mal während einer Zugfahrt von Bazreuth nach Nürnberg habe ich spontan zu einer Junggesellenabschiedsfeier teilgenommen. Es war eine lustige Fahrt mit Kuchen und Prosecco.
Ich bin Mailänder und habe den Wehrdienst in Padua geleistet (in der Nähe von Venedig). Als ich vom Urlaub zu der Kaserne zurück kommen musste, fuhr ich mit dem Zug von Hauptbahnhof Mailand nach Hauptbahnhof Padua. Die Fahrten waren immer nachts. Während jeder Fahrt schlief ich ein. Naja, eines Tages habe ich in Slowenien aufgewacht ! :-)

Ich habe Deutsch vor mehr als 20 Jahren gelernt, hatte ein deutsch Sprachkursus/stipendium in Göttingen gemacht, und ich konnte faktisch früher fließend deutsch. Ich habe aber die Sprache für 19 Jahre nicht benutzt. Jetzt will ich die Sprache wieder lernen, denn ich gehe zu einem deutschsprachigen Toastmasters. Meiner Meinung nach ist Easy German einer der besten deutchlernenden Kanälen im TH-cam. Ich liebe die verschiedenen Themen und Inhalten. Und ich mag, dass es völlig in deutsch gesprochen wird, und dass es beide deutsche und englische Untertiteln gibt. Cari und Janusz und faste alle andere Moderatoren sind sehr gut. Und ich liebe auch, dass sie aus verschiedenen Gebieten in Deutschland sowohl den verschiedenen deutschsprachigen Ländern kommen. Man kann dann die unterschiedlichen deutschen Akzenten hören und lernen und die verschiedenen Ausdrücke in jedem Ort lernen. Gut gemacht! Freue mich die anderen und zukünftigen Videos zu sehen.

plöltzlich die Ankündigung dass alle Züge ausgefallen waren. Angeblich hat ein
Eichhörnchen irgend ein Kabel durgefressen, und ein haufen Probleme
verursachet!

USA 2006. ich bin mit meine Familie von Oregon bis Los Angels gefahren. Die Reise nahm 36 Stunde. Bei der Nacht musste man in Sitzt Platz schlafen versuchen. Ich bin 183 cm gross. So kann ich nicht gut schlafen in dem Sitzt Platzt. Meine Frau empfiehl mir die Beobachten Wagen zu benutzen, so die ich besser Schlafen bekommen wird. Als ich bei der Beobachten Wagen ankommen war, hatte ich sehr überrascht gewesen bin. Jeder Platzt in der Beobachten Wagen genommen war. Jeder Man, der 183 cm oder großer war, war in diese Abteilung zu schlafen versuchen. Endlich musste ich zu meiner Familie zurückgehen.

Diese Jahre ich habe glück gehabt zu Wien und Salzburg total planlos besuchen. Trotzdem bin ich nur ein Tag im Salzburg gewesen das war eine die besten Tagen diese Jahr. Die Stadt ist schön und sehr gemütlich. Und alles ist so Perfect organisiert...ich habe mich gefühlt wie die Stadt hat mich auf den Arm genommen .... sehr beruhigt und Komfortabel :))
Coole Innenausstattung mit den Ledersitzen - sind sicher etwas einfacher sauber zu machen) und ich mag die richtigen Tische an den Sitzen. Bei der Deutschen Bahn sind das ja nur so kleine Brettchen unterm Fenster bei den Doppelstockzuegen. Ich mag bahnfahren auch sehr. Man kommt voran und kann entspannt aus dem Fenster die Landschaft ansehen. In Sachen Zug- oder andere Oeffentliche Verkkehrsmittel Verspaetungen bin ich eigentlich viel relaxter geworden, seit ich in Irland lebe. Hier passiert es oefters mal, dass Busse verspaetet ankommen oder an so Tagen wie St. Patrick's Day oder wenn mal ein Sportereignis ist, ein Bus gar nicht kommt. Dann wartet man auf den naechsten. Hoechstens, wenn ich zu ner Bestimmten Zeit irgendwo sein muss, wie z.B. wenn ich auf Heimaturlaub bin und wieder zum Flughafen muss, werd ich schon nervoes, wenn ein Zug verspaetet ist, aber ansonsten...najaaaaa, kein Drama, passiert halt mal.

Probably my best train story was when I traveled from Vienna to Norden in far northwest Germany, a journey of 11 hours and roughly 1,100 miles in a single day.
Starting out very early from Vienna Westbahnhof the conductor announced that due to track maintenance just outside Vienna we would be running 20 minutes late. This was bad for me as I had to make my first connection at Wurzburg, but luckily once we had passed the track work the driver was able to make up the lost time so that by the time we cross the Austro-German border at Passau we were more or less on time, and we even got into Wurzburg a few minutes early! The train from Vienna was one of the fairly modern ICE 3 models and was spotlessly clean and maybe half full.
Which stood in stark contrast to the grubby and overcrowded ICE 1 that pulled up to take us from Wurzburg to Hanover. It was very crowded and not at all comfortable with no space for my luggage. Worse still, as we were pulling into our only midway stop, I forget where it was, the train came to an emergency stop and so was delayed in leaving. This was even worse than the previous train for me as I knew I only had 10 minutes to make my last connection at Hanover Bahnhof, having been fooled by the myth of German trains always being on time, reinforced by my month-long stay in Austria only having seen a train running late once (not counting two times on the Wiener U-bahn where a train overran the platform and had to reverse to let people out; I was not on either train, but watched it happen and had a good laugh with other spectators). And unlike the Austrian driver this German driver made little attempt to make up the lost time, meaning we finally rolled into Hanover about 5 minutes down. So I had to navigate an unfamiliar station, which I also did not realize was part shopping center between the platforms, to find a platform that I only half remembered, and get up the steps and onto my train in the span of less than 5 minutes, all while lugging two suitcases and a laptop/messenger bag.
Amazingly, even after initially climbing up to the wrong platform, I managed to leap aboard the correct train with maybe 30 seconds to spare before it left. This was one of the IC regional trains; the friend I was going to meet had warned me to avoid the RE commuter trains if at all possible as they were less comfortable and made more stops. After getting settled into the rear coach, which looked like it had been in service since the 1970's, I made my way to the buffet car and asked the attendant if I was on the right train; all of the posted destination markers said the last stop was Norddeich but never once mentioned Norden. He was very kind and assured me that yes, I was on the right train; Norden would be the third-to-last stop. I celebrated by buying a sandwich and soda, the first thing I'd had to eat since leaving Vienna. The ride from there was slow and meandering; at one point the train reached the end of the line and had to change direction to carry on, so the rear coach I'd boarded became the front coach. I'd gotten assigned seats for my whole journey, but by then was so tired that I didn't want to move to go find it and so settled in to a compartment in the driver's coach, which I was soon sharing with a father and his two boys; I got the feeling they weren't exactly sure about this strange American and his large bags sharing their compartment, but they didn't complain and even chatted a little bit. I was surprised at the number of cattle fields in that part of Germany, almost like a European version of my native Texas. The most emotional moment though was when we were rolling through the fields, me leaning against the open window for some cool air, a light rain starting to fall, and on my headphones came the song "Sixth Stop" from the film "Spirited Away"; I don't mind saying I may have slightly cried at that moment. But there was one last bit of drama to this journey: When we finally arrived in Norden, I was waiting at the rear door of the coach and some bicyclists were waiting at the front luggage room door. I expected both doors to open to let us all out, but found that only the cyclists were exiting while my door remained locked. Momentarily horrified, I had to rush the length of the car and quickly heft myself and my bags onto the platform, the doors closing and the train leaving just seconds after I'd gotten my last bag off. Oh, and not Deutsche Bahn's fault, but just to cap everything off, when I got to my hotel I couldn't get the wifi to work with my laptop until the next day.
Die Westbahn hat aber auch immer die besten Durchsagen ^^ hier eine von 2016 auf der Fahrt von Salzburg nach Wien: "Herzlich willkommen, meine Damen und Herren, auf unserer Fahrt vom Mozart-Kugelland in die Kaiserin Sissi Stadt." Das war meine erste Fahrt mit der Westbahn und ich hab mich halb totgelacht 😂

Ich liebe, dass ihr die vielfälltigkeit des Deutschen zeiget. Ich kann eigentlich kaum verstehen was Mathias sagt, aber ich finde es sehr toll, dass es viele Akzente gibt, obwohl ich sie nicht so gut verstehen kann, als die regulär berline Deutsch.

Ok, das stimmt nicht ganz :) Wir verstehen uns ganz gut - aber es klingt auch für uns etwas "fremd", aber gleichzeitig auch sehr sympathisch :)
Ich glaube wenn man Deutsch lernt ist es gut, zwischendurch verschiedene Dialekte zu hören.

Lok mit "ck". Ah da muss ich sudern!
Als ich mit der Bahn nach Manchester fuhr, gab es ein Schild auf dem Toilettensitz, das sagte, verlässt nicht eure Ehemänner und andere komisch Dinge auf der Bahn.
Ich bin mit einer Regionalbahn gefahren - mit dem letzten fahrenden Zug sogar. Es war Freitag und viele betrunkenen Menschen sind nach Hause unterwegs. Ein paar Minutchen bevor ich ausstieg kam eine Durchsage vom Schaffner: „Wir bitten alle Fahrgäste, die Notruftaste NICHT zu benutzen um eine Hamburger oder Döner zu bestellen. Vielen Dank.“
Anscheinend hat jemand die Notruftaste genutzt um was zu bestellen
Germany has one of the best train systems but everyone complains? Well now don't talk about these like the one has nothing to do with the other. Everything is always getting better because everyone is always working to _improve_ everything.
in deutschland liebte ichdas bahn fahren immer. hier in amerika ist es ne andere sache. die ganze horrorgeschicht würde zu weit führen, aber 2 mal ging die tür nicht auf und nun war ich 2 stationen zu weit, was bei amerikanischen entfernungen inzwischen fast 100 meilen vom ziel entfernt war ....
In a bus in Budapest I was with my father (we are from Guatemala and we speak spanish) and a really pretty girl was looking at me a lot so I asked my father if it was a good idea to go talk to her even if her parents were with her (i supposed they were her parents, they were infront of us) and my dad started to joke and said he would distract the parents. When we saw the parents were carrying a sheet of paper completley in spanish. They were from Spain. hahaha

Es war meiner zweiter Tag von weiterführende Schule und bis 2015 die Züge in Auckland City war alt und noch diesel benutzen wäre. Meiner Zug hatte aufhören weil er kaputt war und alle die Studente hatten eine halb stunde nach Schule spazieren. Ganz toll hahaha

Innsbruck ist tatsächlich eine tolle Stadt ist und es wär so nett von Ihnen ,mir eine Glegenheit zugeben,mit Innsbrucker ein interview zumachen
Als bei uns in Deutschland einmal ein Zug aufgrund irgend eines technischen Problems nicht mehr losfahren konnte, kam die Durchsage: Wir haben einen Motorschaden, nu aber alle Suchtis raus, die Kippen aber nich auf dem Bahnsteig fallen lassen! Abfahrt voraussichtlich in 20 Minuten. Das beste war aber, daß der Lokführer und der Zugbegleiter selbst ausgestiegen sind und geraucht hatten. Die Kippen hatten sie im großen Aschenbecher unter dem Zug (Gleis) entsorgt, das hat erneut unter den Rauchern für Gelächter gesorgt. War ne unvergessliche Fahrt, die zum Ersten mal und das war vor 9 Jahren Spaß gemacht hatte.

Letzte Woche habe ich mit dem Zug vom Flughafen Schönefeld nach Südkruez gefahren, aber nach 40 Minuten fand ich mich in der Bornholmerstraße, weil ich mit dem Chatten beschäftigt war und ich den falschen Zug genommen habe

Ich bin vor 30 Jahren von München nach Köln mit dem Zug gefahren und hab dabei eine Gruppe Amerikanische Studenten auf Europareise getroffen und die haben mich ( ich hatte damals einen Faible für Militärklamotten ) gefragt ob ich auf dem Weg zur Ostfront bin !!!

Tatsächlich ist das österreichischer Dialekt. Mathias spricht immer so :) - Deshalb machen wir Deutschen ja manchmal Witze über den österreichischen Dialekt, weil einiges für uns falsch klingt und anderes einfach nur witzig :)
@@easylanguages Nein, es ist tatsächlich falsch. Auch in Österreich. Obwohl viele Leute es im Alltag so sagen, bleibt es dennoch falsch. Also, in der Schule lernt man es auch so " bequemer als...".

Ich war erst etwas verwirrt als Matthias sagte, jedes Abteil habe einen eigenen Schaffner. In der Schweiz sagen wir zu den 4 Sitzen, die zusammengehören Abteil, da wäre jeweils ein eigener Schaffner schon etwas Overkill. 😄
Das, was bei euch ein Abteil heisst ist bei uns ein Wagen.

Could you do a video describing the different types of trains in Europe: EC, IC, ICE, REX, Regio, IR, S-Bahn and such? For American tourists it can be confusing, when one type of train is used for travel versus another type.

I love this video. I'm fascinated that the word for "Topic" is dem Thema, because in Español the word is "el tema" and because it has the Greek "MA" I know it's masculine.. which seems to be true with German, too with "dem," so it makes it easier to sort dem out *wink.
My funny train story. It happened in September 2006 on a train from Brussels, Belgium to The Hague, The Netherlands. At one of the stops, two drunkards from Belorussia board the train. I'm accompanied by two friends of mine from India. They're holding a can of soda each, but from their smell and their behavior we could tell it was vodka and not Coca-Cola in the cans. The drunkards start taunting my two Indian friends, who start to feel extremely uncomfortable. Meanwhile, one of the guys then smacks the other one bad and one says he's a judge and the other a cop (It might have been a lie, they were too drunk). Before we have a chance to get off the train at the next stop, one of them grabs three bank notes from Belorussia and hands them to each one of us. He says it's for us to "buy jeans"... We take the bank notes and get off the train immediately. They get off too but we were able to walk to safety. Later that night we learned that the money they gave us was only worth cents of euros so there was no way we could possibly buy any pair of jeans! 13 years later and we're still laughing at the experience.

I think it would be great if you could sometime make a video about how public transportation works in Germany. I live in the US and we dont have mass public transport like in Germany and I am so worried I will do something wrong or not know how to use it when I visit.

Ich mag an Bahnen das kann ich die Geister von Reisen erleben. Aber ich mag nicht lange Reisen (ZB 2-3 Tage), denn das ist sehr langweilig und du wunschst schneller zum deinen Reiseziel ankommen

Tja! Mit der Westbahn von Salzburg nach Wien ist eine sehr schöne und ganz bequeme Bahnfahrt. Besonders vor Weihnachten fahren viele Leute nach Wien einkaufen zu gehen. Vergesst nicht die verschiedenen Weihnachtsmärkte zu besuchen!

Salzburg!!!! Ich lieb die Stadt: sie hat tolles Essen und tolle Menschen!! Matthias ist ein perfektes Beispiel dafür!!! Bahngeschichte?? Keine in Wirklichkeit!! Ich hab mich immer gewundert, warum die Österreichischer über eine-zwei Minuten Verspätung klagen: i meine in Mailand ist es katastrophal, die Züge zu nehmen und Pendler zu sein. Man ist glücklich, wenn man einen Zug nehmen darf. Stundenlang Verspätungen sind ganz in "Ordnung"
