      @@MartinGureasko Hi Martin. I'm glad I found you. Piano is my favorite instrument, but I like all instruments. I really like the country sound, honky tonk, etc. I do like other styles also. Glad to be on board! God bless you!

    Hi Martin, tnx so much for all of your videos (and sheets), they're all soo good, so much information, pure, simple and clean country! Amazing job! I wonder if u could do a tutorial for a faster country song, with fills and comping, like Dwight's It only hurts me when I cry, for me it would be very usefull to see u explain piano treatment in that context. Best wishes!

    Bravo and thanks Martin from France Can you show more licks to use after the intro for example in Bb and then in C to play a simple country song ? Merciiiiii

      Yes I can. I plan to do a quick video before the weekend and I'll demonstrate a couple of licks in Bb and C. I bet there are quite a few others interested in the same thing.

      ..Ive watched hundreds of piano lessons on YT.. yours are actually the best so far why?
      they are short and sweet,, / you focus on lesson and dont talk about your life like these others do
      you offer sophistication in sound but its very simple technically
      seems to me a big demand for this type of country ballad keys lessons

      @@simpsimpson5175 Wow, thanks! I just met with a guy today who is going to help me shoot my videos in batches and we both agreed the formula is (1) teaching material that is applicable to a real song, and how it can transfer to other songs, and (2) teaching it in bite-size chunks. Your words are confirmation that I'm on the right track. I know it will take a while to refine the entire process, but I've been running my mouth for several years about doing this...and now it's time to walk the talk.

      @@simpsimpson5175 Sorry to hear about your nerve damage. I know it's not even close, but I had carpel tunnel surgery on both hands last year and I'm facing another surgery on my right hand for trigger finger. Kinda scary. It's taken me months to get back even a semblance of my former technique and speed. Good luck and God bless you as you go through the healing process.

      Martin Gureasko great. My advice? Make sure your voice is clearly Mic'd so instructions and piano music same volume levels
      Have a simple graphic template so ur channel is graphically consistent
      Keep lessons short. Too many teachers have 23 min lessons which could easily be cut down to 8 mins. Not too much blah blah
      Seems to be a almost no lessons on tasty country ballad keyboard on YT. And composition. Tasteful voicings. Lead break. Use of midi vsts ( fender rhodes hammond b3 ) folk style.
      Im moving to keyboard as have injured guitar fretting hand. Ive looked at hundreds of lessons past week and these tips will def work

    Martin great video. Had somebody ask me if I could make Floyd Cramer Video instruction on how he played a certain lick. I played it over and finally got it. I think RCA was the producer. it was detuned. I used a video editor and was able to play it back matching my fingers to the song. It was probably about 90 Percent correct.

    Hello thanks for this. Would it acceptable under copyright do you think to write something based on this?

    • @MartinGureasko
      @MartinGureasko  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This video isn't copyrighted and I certainly don't have any issues with anyone writing something based on this. The chord progression is a generic one that is used frequently in country music and it was borrowed from any specific song. So go right ahead and write away.

    Whatever country bands you play with, they should have you do the vocal lead in Kenny Rogers songs. You sound just like him.

      Yes. I make the tracks using a simple drum pattern, a bass, and an acoustic guitar for rhythm.

    I always called the Ab to A a crush notes. Someone corrected me.. What is a crush notes. Like when I am playing a C sus triad C Do G..I often put a slip note Eb in the mix..

    • @MartinGureasko
      @MartinGureasko  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crush note is another way to describe it. I use the term bent note, or sometimes, slip note. Or even "Floyd Cramer" style. Most everyone knows what that means.

      Martin Gureasko This post starts out as an observation but gets technical. So beginners can read it but it is somewhat for your more advancing learner's....... on the crush chords..That's what I thought..I assume you would know as you a paracticing pro pianist. I went to calling a crush notes awhile back. Here is something to think about. When an experienced player plays a song with improv..eecially a fast blues song..say a bogie in the left hand In a few seconds Prob 20 base notes. So that is 30 x 20 is 600 notes in a minute. That's the slow side..Basic quarter and eighth notes. I have a tendency to do fast descending C6, C7, F7 and just improve on C blues, A blues,, and throw some mixolydian.on the five chord G7..which is basically all the white keys..Of course this is about 5 times faster than quarter and eighth notes on the left side bass area. So 5 x 60 is 3000 notes per minute.. After a few minutes over 10000 notes. It would be nearly impossible to write this out on sheet music. Off course We just do this sparingly..When going on and on it doesn't sound musical, but sounds mechanical. So it's slowed down..maybe comping chords. This doesn't include counting chords as individual notes. So dedicated musicians whether Sax,piano, banjo ,practice much more than play. That's usually much slower. But think about how many notes we have played. It's probably in the billions. I think less is more but I practice my instrument to be as proficient as I personally can be. I've been playing fo r50 or so years..I enjoy teaching and passing on what I've learned. I find this helps me grow. My current challenge to myself is get rid of favorite keys..
      I noticed awhile back that pianist hate keys like B..etc..I am working on changing jazz and various genres to all keys..spending time learning blues scale in every key. Also I find that I am presently crippled to some degree to doing the altered scale other than the C version. What happens is if we are always playing our favorite songs and come up with unfamiliar chords..we become like a deer in the headlights. We can't hardly move..but if practice those unfamiar chords we are prepared for the inevitable.
