Thank you for the video, good sir. As a dentistry student, I'm not really much into technology but your video helped this dummy greatly to get a general understanding.
The -5v connection is not "earth 5 volts". It is a -5v supply. It is 5 volts *below* ground. If you were to use a volt meter and measure between +5v and -5v the reading would be 10 volts. -5v is used by some older dedicated boards and is required by the old 4116 DRAM chips.

Hi Dean, I cannot say for sure how to connect your board but you can find a ton of help through an arcade forum called KLOV, there are a ton of manuals and schematics on there as well. You can post pics of your board to find out what you have and then download the schematic that will show you how to wire it. There are also a ton of groups on Facebook that will love to help you with all that stuff! You should be able to find a group local to your area as well.
The switcher will not work with either one of those boards, it will not recognize the 5 & 6 buttons for either player and it will not produce proper sound.
May I know how to connect a USB joystick to JAMMA harness? I just have the arcade board without the cabinet and I already found a RGB to VGA converter. Hopefully you can share your experience with me.
I'd think u just download the diagram for jamma and u wire the buttons and joysticks directly off the jamma harness, no USB or o delay encoders needed etc for Real Game board, or if it's a PC etc just plug it in the usb port and dont wire the jamma controllers..all the best from NZ

Jamma is set to a default to do the automatic flip for you on 60-in-1 and 412-in-1 that are vertical games only. If you are looking to have 2 player games like Street fighter and also having cocktail games that is a whole different scenario.

i have a classic mortal kombat 1 cabinet that was made in 93. is there anyway that i would be able to turn the cabinet into a multicade cabinet with games of my choice?
icybottoms007 you can convert it to jamma if you want fairly easily, your game choice will be subject to the game board game list. They are set lists and cannot be changed
Good afternoon, I have captain America and the avengers but want to switch the board with a multi game board...is this possible? I'm looking to see what I'd need
Really all you need is the board and I would pick up a universal jamma harness to replace the wiring if I was you. I would also replace the arcade power supply if you have an original in your machine. You will also need a vga/hdmi to cga converter if you have an original tube monitor CRT.
I need some HELP!!! I have a Panasonic Plasma with RGBHV connections. I've been searching and bashing my head as to how I need to wire the Jamma output to those connections. Do I need to patch the ground into each cable is my biggest question. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you trying to use the CGA video off of the Jamma harness to connect to an HD TV? That will not work directly, your only option will be a CGA to VGA/RGB converter that will give you those options.
This is a professional plasma monitor. Basically, a plasma PVM. It has RGB and HV syncs with BNC. 5 connectors to create the signal with the lower kHz rating.
That is a bit beyond my expertise but your RGB and ground is straight forward, with 1 white wire left over we usually have to tie in both HV syncs to it and that seems to work.
Question for you. Can buttons be added to Jamma harnesses? What I mean by that, my cabinet is for a 4 player turtles in time but I want to switch it to WWF wrestlefest. The game comes on but I can't start the game because the cabinet doesn't have a start button. Thanks for the help.
will the Suzo Happ "Super" Jamma Harness be good if i want to use Street Fighter 2, or MK jamma boards down the road ? It says the "item supports 16 switches"...Thanks !
A Jamma board cannot accept the input of a USB encoder, it is a friction fit 28 pin fingerboard right on the PCB, technically it shouldn't have any lag at all. The only things that cause lag on a Jamma board would be the microswitches and the processor on the PCB, there is nothing to encode.
Because I'm wondering what is the best solution with the pandora's box motherboard. I was thinking to go straight into the USB using a usb encoder rather then using the pin connector but from what I can see from videos it seems to be pretty much the same because I need to wire everything in the same way. So I was just wondering if adding a usb encoder in the process and go through USB port make any difference at the end. Thanks for your answers and your patience btw. Very good channel!!!!
Ruggero Piazza the Pandoras box is a Jamma board, the USB ports do not work for anything, they are decorative at this point, you can only use a Jamma harness, you cannot use an encoder at all.
I'm sorry but the Pandora's box is only made for 1 & 2 Player arcade games that are not driving or shooting games. The game list consists of mostly fighting games.
0:57 no they didn't use jamma from beg of time! What happened was, each cabinet was built specifically for each game.. as games got more popular and more games coming out they decided to make it easier to swap games in cabinets INSTEAD of ordering new cabinets every day! this way they can use 1 cabinet and switch games using the JAMMA connector.. jamma was made to make games universal to use in different cabinets! ex: lets say you got a donkey kong game and nobody wanted to play it anymore.. BUT time pilot was the game everybody wanted! instead of getting rid of the cabinet and having to order time pilot cabinet.. WITH THE JAMMA CONNECTOR, you could just order the Time pilot pcb board game, and when it arrives in 2-3 days...switch out the pcb board game from Donkey kong to Time pilot.. 5 mins and you could have time pilot in the donkey kong cabinet! that's the history of jamma!!!!
WPGinterceptor JAMMA was later made even easier by companies such as Capcom and SNK, who had boards that would use individual cartridges that could be swapped easily.
If you are using a JAMMA board then the only ones that display in Vertical are the 60 & 412-in-1 and the 1162 does both. The rest that are out there display in Horizontal only and will letter box with side bars to adapt to your monitor. You cannot just change the output on a JAMMA board to work either horizontal or vertical, they are pre-programming to display the way they are intended.
Slam Blambacid those power supplies are for replacement of older arcade machines and pinball machines. The new multi game jamma boards mostly only utilize the 5V and 12V of your power supply so that is all you need.
That means you definitely have a short for your "A" button, check all your connections again and make sure your ground wire is on the bottom prong and your action P1 A wire is on your middle prong of your microswitch. The third third prong is always open/ on so that would create the problem you are having.
Are there any jams boards that have everything from beyond Mame, Final Burn Alpha and sega model 2? I tried to get the other arcade emulators to work on my pc, and no matter what it is I keep running into errors on everything else :( I really want stuff from 2000 and beyound, and all the stuff that will not run in mame or final burn alpha :(
yeah I'd want one that runs Sega Model 3, Naomi, early Atomiswave, early Hikaru, and Naomi 2 as those are the ones that no matter what I try to do I just cannot figure out how to get the games running
Yes there is, is been a while since I have looked at that setting but I think it is set to on by default....... I may be wrong but the setting is in the menu for sure.
Building my first Multicade out of a 1989 Final Fight, restoring and keeping the cabinet original but installing a 1299 Pandora with a 16x13 LCD Monitor do I can still use the original Bezel.. this is fun!

I currently have the 1 in 60 board from BLEE and want to upgrade to the 412 board- is it simply plug & play? can I just unplug the 60 board and the 412 is good to go?
Yes it is a simple plug and play exchange, you need the 4,5 & 6 buttons on Player 1 to make most changes in the menu, but the default settings are usually good for most people.
Александр Сангалеев what do you mean by find drivers? There are no drivers for jamma it is a set wiring/pinout standard from the 80's. There boards are set to that wiring standard and cannot be changed.
Александр Сангалеев there are no drivers needed, you do need the right power and voltage connected to the Jamma harness in most cases unless you are providing power to your controls/board through another source. The game might still power up without that but it will not recognize the controls. Are you using a multi game jamma board or is this a dedicated pcb?

Hello, your videos are increible amazing they way you explain is great for the new students thank you so much a learned a lot from you!!! Do you have a video on how to convert from CRT to VGA using the adapter and what cables to connect, again awesome work!!!
I'm sorry I do not, the reason why is that if I did a video on that it would be specific to what I was showing, brands, connection locations etc. I am sorry to say that it could be a trial and error situation at times, I can say that both of your sync wires from your monitor to the card adapter do tie into the 1 white cable of your adapter harness. The RGB is in sequence on the adapter but it is hit and miss sometimes from the monitor (wire colors may be different). You will need to get a schematic of your CRT before you start cutting away connectors to splice into your card for sure! Another thing to remember is that there are video adjustments on 3 different items when you do this, the CRT has a controller that allows for your sync and color saturation, then the CGA to VGA adapter has sync/color options and then your VGA monitor has its own options as well so there is too many variables to account for.

i have a classic mortal kombat 1 cabinet that was made in 93. is there anyway that i would be able to turn the cabinet into a multicade cabinet with games of my choice?
icybottoms007 you can convert it to jamma if you want fairly easily, your game choice will be subject to the game board game list. They are set lists and cannot be changed
what game board do you have now it is 2022
Good afternoon, I have captain America and the avengers but want to switch the board with a multi game board...is this possible?
Ok. Thanks for the help. I may split a few cables and try it multiple ways. I'll let you know how it turns out.
can you make 4 player console for a bartop cabinet?
(size isnt a problem... Im gonna be using a 32" screen anyway)
Question for you. Can buttons be added to Jamma harnesses? What I mean by that, my cabinet is for a 4 player turtles in time but I want to switch it to WWF wrestlefest. The game comes on but I can't start the game because the cabinet doesn't have a start button. Thanks for the help.
Yes you will have to add a start and a coin button for each player if your not already wired into the coin door.
will the Suzo Happ "Super" Jamma Harness be good if i want to use Street Fighter 2, or MK jamma boards down the road ? It says the "item supports 16 switches"...Thanks !
Yes it is a high end replacement for any Jamma Arcade.
Excellent ! Thanks
Connecting joystick and buttons through jamma to the motherboard is it producing less lag then USB decoding?
A Jamma board cannot accept the input of a USB encoder, it is a friction fit 28 pin fingerboard right on the PCB, technically it shouldn't have any lag at all. The only things that cause lag on a Jamma board would be the microswitches and the processor on the PCB, there is nothing to encode.
Retro Active Arcade do you suggest to use jamma connection or I can go straight to the motherboard's USB port using USB decoder?
Ruggero Piazza if you are using a Jamma board you Have to use a Jamma harness, if you are using a computer you Have to you use an encoder.
Hi im very new to this arcade machine, just wanted to know do they make a pcb like Pandora's box 3 for car racing game?
I'm sorry but the Pandora's box is only made for 1 & 2 Player arcade games that are not driving or shooting games. The game list consists of mostly fighting games.
@@RetroactivearcadeCa is there something out on the market for a multi car racing game all in one unit? Similar to the pandora box?
Not that I know of, you would have to set up your own PC and use a #hyperspin type of frontend to run the roms yourself.
Ok cool thanks for that information
do the jama multi boards use actual arcade dumps?
Yes
WPGinterceptor Triggered!!! 😤😤😤
...or he knows the correct information?
And then snk thought jamma boards were too large, maybe too risky to install, so that's where neo geo cartridges begin
True, but ironically neither DK or Time Pilot are JAMMA ;)
WPGinterceptor
JAMMA was later made even easier by companies such as Capcom and SNK, who had boards that would use individual cartridges that could be swapped easily.
Nice and informative video, thanks!
Thank You!
My video orientation is always horizontal. I cant get it to show the screen vertical. on our arcade. Any tips?
If you are using a JAMMA board then the only ones that display in Vertical are the 60 & 412-in-1 and the 1162 does both. The rest that are out there display in Horizontal only and will letter box with side bars to adapt to your monitor. You cannot just change the output on a JAMMA board to work either horizontal or vertical, they are pre-programming to display the way they are intended.
Why some power supplies come with 24v connector ?? What is for ??
Slam Blambacid those power supplies are for replacement of older arcade machines and pinball machines. The new multi game jamma boards mostly only utilize the 5V and 12V of your power supply so that is all you need.
How to update it or remove some games?
Thanks 👏
I have the 60 in 1 card,,,,any idea why in my centipede it fires by itself,,,I want to fire manually
You will have to go into the settings menu and switch it. Follow the instruction guide to figure out how to do that.
@@RetroactivearcadeCa it fires automatically when the track ball is hooked up,,,there's no setting to change for this...any other ideas???
That means you definitely have a short for your "A" button, check all your connections again and make sure your ground wire is on the bottom prong and your action P1 A wire is on your middle prong of your microswitch. The third third prong is always open/ on so that would create the problem you are having.
@@RetroactivearcadeCa the 1p (fire) button works for all the other games fine,,,,
You were right I had a short in a wire,,,,thnx so much for your help..
Are there any jams boards that have everything from beyond Mame, Final Burn Alpha and sega model 2? I tried to get the other arcade emulators to work on my pc, and no matter what it is I keep running into errors on everything else :( I really want stuff from 2000 and beyound, and all the stuff that will not run in mame or final burn alpha :(
babada jamma boards will only have games that would be on the mame list, nothing really newer than 2005.
yeah I'd want one that runs Sega Model 3, Naomi, early Atomiswave, early Hikaru, and Naomi 2 as those are the ones that no matter what I try to do I just cannot figure out how to get the games running
Fantastic video. Very informative. Is there a setting on the 60-1 that will keep high scores saved?
Yes there is, is been a while since I have looked at that setting but I think it is set to on by default....... I may be wrong but the setting is in the menu for sure.
Building my first Multicade out of a 1989 Final Fight, restoring and keeping the cabinet original but installing a 1299 Pandora with a 16x13 LCD Monitor do I can still use the original Bezel.. this is fun!
Awesome? Send some pics when it's done!
Wow,nice tutorial! Keep the good work
Where do i insert game on? Or how to connect to tv and usb controller?
JAMMA does not connect like that. You will have to buy a JAMMA to USB converter and a CGA to VGA converter for the video.
I wish Asteroids was on the 412 game elf !!! I’m waiting for my 621 game elf so I can upgrade for my cocktail arcade
Really helpful to the uninitiated!
Well the Raiden PCB uses -5V for sound. If you cut it off, it wont work properly and you will have a hard time figuring out why... just keep -5V👾
can you show me how to set up pandora box 4 plz
What do you mean by set it up?
i i trying to put it in a bartop but i dont know what goes where
Have yo looked at our Jamma harness diagrams yet? Here is a link to all of them. retroactivearcade.ca/diagrams/
We also have a tutorial on how to connect your wiring to an arcade power supply.

thank you
I have been meaning to look into this for years... looks like it is time to spend some money
Do you have cabinets for sale????
we sure do!: retroactivearcade.ca/arcades/personalized-arcades/
where to find drivers for jammya
Александр Сангалеев what do you mean by find drivers? There are no drivers for jamma it is a set wiring/pinout standard from the 80's. There boards are set to that wiring standard and cannot be changed.
maybe I asked the wrong question. I need to play panic museum (TTX2). The game itself is there but does not see an I / O board and a gun board.
Александр Сангалеев there are no drivers needed, you do need the right power and voltage connected to the Jamma harness in most cases unless you are providing power to your controls/board through another source. The game might still power up without that but it will not recognize the controls. Are you using a multi game jamma board or is this a dedicated pcb?
you do not mind talking to the email
Александр Сангалеев not at all, email me you like

Thanks a ton for the video. About to start a pandora's box 4 project.
Did you finish your project yet? Would love to see some pics!
Retro Active Arcade Ltd.™ if you had a personal preference, would you just run Mame on PC? I have a 60n1 cab, but I use PC for almost every build. My current project is a PC driven NBA Jam cab, just loaded with all the 3-4 player, 3 button games. My multicade pedestal is PC too, and my Scramble cocktail with probably follow suite. I only use jamma for cabs wired for jamma already. Lol...nevermind, got my answer at the vid end while typing this!
thanks for the video !!!
I try!
@@RetroactivearcadeCa thank you for taking the time to respond keep the great work.
Many thanks dude! It was very helpful! :-)
