Cloverdose They could do that but only the series 5 has the tech to make the screen refresh at 1hz, saving battery so the battery in all other models would be consumed very quickly

Zaker The Hz rate does also efect other components like the gpu and cpu, the power consumption can be reduced by a large amount specially on heavy applications

Seriously! The best thing was the Iwatch 4 and the X Max versions that actually made the biggest change to Apple to date. Now all they have is reused “newer” models with what “ a better camera” (shocker) and a compass and always on display that will
drain your battery. Apple really disappointed this year. First year I won’t upgrade.

I have both the series 4 & 5 the 5 does drain the battery more due to the display being on all the time.

Why would I want an always on display? I like that my series 4 turns off when I’m not looking to avoid ppl looking at my watch screen. Keeps it more private.
Jesus Villasenor because an “off” display is like wearing a normal watch with a dead battery. It is like a dead thing in your wrist. That’s why most of the request from user is about always on display.

Put a private screen protector on their smartphone for privacy. But on a tiny watch? People couldnt really read your so called sensitive information from a distance on a tiny watch.
Kahiri78 Mohd Idris always on makes no sense you will have to raise your wrist anyway to see the time hence the raise to wake on series 4 it isnt that complicated lol when you go to look at your watch the time will pop up automatically so this series 5 alway on is a waste of money smh your not going to be looking at your watch every second of the day to know that its always on lol the only difference is the others can see your watch face when your wrist is down so in hindsight if you want to show off you watch face more to show everyone you have an apple watch as if they didnt already know get a series 5 lol ppl

If people would be willing to upgrade just for the always on option, then Apple wouldn’t have discontinued the series 4... I think Apple answered that question loud and clear.

@@juliet4093 Lol, keep telling yourself that. When a new series comes out the old one gets a price drop. So no the S4 would not be the same price as the S5. The S5 is such a poor example of an upgrade that they discontinued the S4 which would outsell it if it were offered at a discounted price considering it is the older model.

They actually skipped the sleep tracking because they're saving it for the series 6, and sleep tracking is software because the hardware is already there! Why drop the series 4 and keep the series 3? If they didn't drop the series 4 and did a price reduction, intelligent people would buy the 4 and not the 5!

Nice video showing the differences. I have the series 2 and thinking upgrading to something newer, not sure about the 5 maybe the 4. I actually don't care that much about the always on feature but I bet once you get used to it, you can't go back to a watch without it.

I like the idea of the compass in conjunction with phone navigation apps.
The compass feature is mainly for maps and navigation, in order to know what you are facing.

i dont know whether i should buy the series 4 or the 5. Should i go for the 5 because of the always on display and the compass which links to make the built in maps/gps more reliable but end up spending the extra money? Or is the series 4 good enough?

I just bought the new series 5 stainless steel gold face and stainless steel black band and I’m loving it so far. I didn’t get the gold band because the color looks more like copper to me
I see you mentioned the watch faces, but it’s the same faces on the series4 as long as the watch is updated, you can get the same faces.

I bought the series 4 about 3 months ago and it’s amazing. With the 5 though I am absolutely flabbergasted at how they could not come up with anything new to put in the watch so they only branded it with a feature that could have been done with a software update. I think if Apple can’t come up with something actually that new or worth an upgrade in abouts to the series of watch or phone then there is nothing wrong with taking an extra year or even two to come up with an actually new forward thinking product. Being rich off their ass already I guess is not good enough grounds to give up yearly flex bucks though.
The Meridian watch face is also available for series 4, I installed it the other day.

I remember my moto 360 watch 6 years ago had always on display. And it had two levels on always on. Fully bright when you straight looking into watch with wrist motion. and half bright when your hands are in a position where there is any possibility to see the screen. and then your hands are completely down, like in your pocket or walking. it used to turn off the display.
