It’s definitely a small upgrade, but it’s huge for some people. I meet with clients a lot where it would be rude to check my phone or watch, but I still need to somewhat keep up with time and see what notifications I’m receiving. To this point I’ve avoided an Apple Watch because there was no option for that subtle check. This fixes it

This time next week: So I’ve had the Pixel 4 for about a week now.
I just picked up my Series 5 a couple days ago after years of considering it and one of the first things I did was turn the always on display off. On my first full day of usage, I got through a full 14 hour day with 55% battery life remaining.

The Series 5 has a slightly larger battery to make up for the always on display, so it’s battery life is around the same as the Series 4
As if anyone cares, as long as 20 to 15 percent battery life remains by the end of the day after full brightness and good usage, no ones gonna mind unless they work 2 or more days straight in an environment where they can’t charge
Saigul have you looked at the difference? Apparently not. Look it up. It’s literally nothing. I was charging the series 5 twice a day. It’s not meant to just sit on your wrist and look pretty. It’s supposed to function.

to be fair, lets say the galaxy watch, which I had before my series 4, the galaxy watch easily got a day with always on enabled, ended with 50-40 battery.

Hint Of Sarcasm The reason it is customary to wear a watch on your non-dominant wrist is because it can interfere with writing. Also, obviously most of us use our dominant hand for more tasks, and therefore it puts the watch at higher risk of being damaged.

That is probably the more realistic battery life, you wouldn’t stay hooked on to your damn WATCH, like you would to your phone, day to day use is not very intensive.
That's always been the case with Apple. When they say "It lasts X hours", you have to think "Ok how much more in real life?"
I find disabling LTE when at home also makes a solid difference to battery life.

I've had always on display my now old Gear S3 frontier and can still play music through its speakers. Zero problems with battery life, never had to use reverse charge on my phone but it's there if ever needed.

I’m a biology student, so the compass in the Apple Watch may be beneficial in labs or research. Showing the direction on maps is so much more helpful now too.

Thanks to the Always On feature I was able to turn off the activation of the screen when I turn my wrist. I was wasting the battery when the screen activation function was active when I turned my wrist, because there were a lot of false activations during the day. This is not only a waste of battery, but also an annoyance, as sometimes it is not even appropriate in certain situations. I would never buy any smart watch without the Always On function, because I need a watch on my hand first and foremost, not a piece of gadget with a black square.

I still think one of the biggest problems with the Apple Watch is the metal pin on the strap used to wear the Apple Watch. Whenever I sit down on my table, it hits the table again and again. I would really prefer it to be hardened rubber or any other alternative for it. Other than that, the watch is amazing!

I like the grid view. It makes accessing apps quicker than scrolling only up and down. With the list view you potentially have to do a lot of more scrolling.
100% facts about the battery life hit. I had to turn off the "always-on" display when doing my 8+ hour hikes. It totally can kill your battery in a day compared to the series 4 (Which I have used on an entire hike without it dying). Still, the watch is fire and I still charge it every day regardless
