- I chose to re-use the mag catch recess on the GSG-16 mag because its much easier for my viewers with less experience with modification. If the casing isn't in the exact location, height wise, you will experience lots of fail to feed issue and depth wise, creating a tiny step which will wear out the mag catch faster plus as a general rule, don't rub two different materials because the softer material will wear out faster.
Measurements of the raised areas in front of the mag, from the bottom are 0-15mm, 3-4cm, 7.8-8.5cm and top 12.7- 13.7cm.
The MP5 mag is made by CYMA Airsoft.

G&G airsoft mags are really nice with powdercoating and german mp5 mag style stamping "9mm x 19 IF"
nah, i just wanted the cheapest and nuthin fancy. CYMA is my fav brand.
Unless it is used in sandy or muddy environment I don’t see the point of not wanting a see through magazines.
Why do you think very few mags are see-thru bcos if you want your springs to last ? You need to protect it also don't forget the rain. It will rust that cheap spring really fast.
he thinks your taking it to vietnam
Hello again, I wouldnt touch the metal mag as it clips perfectly into the GSG16. See video from Motiuk on youtube detailing sanding procedure needed to slide in the GSG mag to the untouched metal shell. Love your vids!
I disagree, if you are not precise to the top of the mag, you will get lots of feeding issue. Also I rather cut the casing than fuzz with the bottom of the mag. I don't have to drill holes on the base plate and find longer screws. I re-use.
Also not good idea rubbing two different materials. The plastic mag catch won't last rubbing against the metal mag catch lock recess, it feels pretty Sharp.
Just a different way to skim a cat.
I had no wear issues with my mags and have done over 10 now for my use and friends. Remember that the mag release is spring fit not friction so as the mag is fed the catxh just gets out of the way,
You do not need to touch the gsg mag cap at the base other than side clearancing as the 9mm mag housing is deeper than needed for the GSG mag. In the other vid that shows using screws that can also be ignored as it is not needed. The gsg mag will fit fine without separating
When doing this mag mod, if you experience binding of the spring and sticking bullets that will not slide, there will be a part of the GSG mag that will require additional filing as it is causiog a pinch point. Go slow to not over sand
no wear yet, lol. if you done 10, thats good bcos you are handy but alot of my viewers arent. too much variables around the mag catch area and will screw up, guaranteed and probably never do another mod again, lol.
Sold mine. Bought a TNW ASR in 10mm
part of the fun is modifying. cant dress up a asr.
