      Ya you do. I learned a lot about hunting whitetails on this trip. You will definitely see deer around Pierce

    Great series man!!!!! Really enjoyed following the hunt. You rattled your a** off! Super curious, what part of Idaho? (not trying to spot steal, don't even have to name the unit). Have been contemplating a DIY Idaho Whitetail hunt for a while now.. Gorgeous looking country.

      Thanks Nathan. I really like everything between St. Maries and Kooskia. Lots of whitetail all the way through that area

    Awesome buck! Out of curiosity, what caliber? Been contemplating a lever gun in 45-70 solely for brush and blood trail characteristics.

    • @chasethehunt2187
      @chasethehunt2187  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a 300wsm. I've taken bear, Caribou, Elk, deer and antelope with it. Its a great caliber. The 45-70 is an awesome gun too but your not going to be taking longer shots with it. Like u said, it would be a brush gun.

    Do you realize that the buck you shot is what we Idahoans call a "rat." You are ruining hunting in Idaho with your very marginal standards.

      Im sorry you feel that way Mark, i guess your idea of a trophy is different from mine then. I understand your point but also, this was my third trip to idaho and this was the biggest buck I had an opportunity at over the combined 3 weeks of hunting there, Im very proud of him.

    • @pokerman9108
      @pokerman9108 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark, no one is shooting out the bucks in north Idaho... terrain alone ensures this. Stop being an idiot.

      @@pokerman9108 You don't know any better. Check the BC records to see that most were shot in the 80's and 90's. People such as you think dinks reflect great hunting...sad.

      @@chasethehunt2187 If you knew what hunting was like prior to so many hunters being satisfied with a deer like you shot, you would have a better understanding.

      @@marksimon6798 I grew up outside of Stanley. I also have been a part of many mule deer and elk studies in the area. Including within the frank.
      hunting does very little to numbers and animal size. Their are many other factors at play. Example, did you know the health of the mother while conceiving the buck, has an effect on the size that buck will be later in life? Environmental factors have a far larger effect on the size and populations of deer.
      Considering the terrain of Idaho. We're not shooting out our bucks. If we get mild winters with wet springs for a number of years in a row, we will see large bucks. I saw a 200" deer killed literally smack in the middle of the most hunted area in the entire state last season. unit 39, just above arrow rock reservoir next to the road. the numbers do not support your idea here. Did you know most bucks in Idaho live their entire lives out... meaning no one shoots them. This alone proves you wrong. If what you claim was true, the frank would be full of giant 220"+ bucks.
      You sound like someone who needs to learn a bit more about the game you hunt.
