This is a great song! I grew up listening to his music. Glen Campbell was one of the most talented entertainers & guitarists in the world. He had a lot of hits such as "Gentle On My Mind", "Dreams Of The Everyday Housewife", "Galveston", "Try A Little Kindness", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Southern Nights" etc. Sadly he got Alzheimer's later in life.
Nice reaction, Lyle! I used to sit with my plastic guitar and watch his old TV show. You should for some videos from his show. He had different guests each week. As a kid, I thought it was great!
You should listen to his duets with Roy Clark and Glen does an unbelievably fantastic cover of the William Tell Overture with a full orchestra behind him. The things he does on that will blow your mind. Enjoy!
I'm of the opinion that he never did actually leave. The whole song is in future tense about what he's planning to do. So the question is, did he go or not?
Jimmy Webb's writing and Glen Campbell's singing were an amazing pairing. I could listen to their music for days - and did in high school and college.

He had such a beautiful voice. Thanks for this, Ive never seen that footage before.😊
Worked with the Beach Boys..
One of the first LPs I bought was Glen Campbell. Well worth a 15 y/o's allowance. He is also one of the greatest guitarist.
I think this was a Grammy winner for Song of the Year in 1968 or 1969.
Lyle, have you reacted to Glen Campbell singing, Witchita Lineman or Galveston?
Idt he has
One of the best songs ever!

Beautiful voice and song…
I used to really like Glen Campbell when I was a child. Rhinestone Cowboy still makes me cringe!
It made me cringe as an adolescent. Now I like it 🙂
Did you hear his last song called I’m not gonna miss you he wrote after he had dementia ! It will break your heart
Saw him in Branson, Missouri years ago. Beautiful show. Great guitarist.
