      And here I am 3 months later, 800ish rounds down the barrel with .0335" throat erosion, no accuracy issues yet, but wondering why there's no direct replacement 26" varmint contour or even MTU contour replacement barrels available anywhere. Proof has the 308 & 6.5 24" option, but that's not an option to me. Maybe switching it to 308 at this point.

    One thing I would love to see from a gun channel is revisiting guns and telling us what it’s been like to live with, any problems etc. I live in the UK and it’s hard to find people who have or have used this gun. I am interested in one, but without knowing if it’s reliable or if it has any weaknesses it’s hard to lay down the cash especially if I struggle to get it fixed if there is a fault. Great review

    400+ rds down range with mine, absolutely love it. While operating the rifle I do not have issues or even notice the action slack, but just handling it and practicing I have noticed it, yet it's so slight that it's not even on my radar as an issue. All in all it's my favorite plinker.

    There's definitely a ton of options out there for these kinds of rifles... I've got a buddy who has this rifle and to tell you the truth I can't tell much of a difference between it and my T/C Performance Center LRR. I've shot a lot of different rifles like this but the only one I have a lot of time on is my LRR... That said I was able to shoot about a quarter inch group with the Delta 5 and that's pretty damn good for not being my rifle. They all shoot really good there's something about a chassis rifle that's a lot of fun and they really are easy rifles to shoot well... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

    You guys in Alabama do great videos! I was really focusing on the Tikka T3x TAC A1 6.5 Creedmoor. But did not pull the "Buy" trigger. Past few weeks I'm focusing hard on the Delta 5 Pro. I have watched every single quality review video on the gun because I want to start in NRL/PRS. Just waiting for DD to get these back in stock. I agree that the Action will feel strange, and will cause the shooter to be a little too aware and careful when running the gun, and even then will have more than the usual number of malfunctions. I understand DD's engineering attempt with this flex type Action. It was a bold engineering attempt to do something a little out of the box, but I also think that DD's marketing and engineering guys are listening to the market and I think they will come up with a version that does away with the flex type Action because the discomfort/dislike for it seems to be universal. It seems to be the single element that is keeping this gun from being an out-of-the-park tape-measure home run. I think when DD resolves the Action problem, it will be swappable with the current flex Action, i.e., if I buy the Delta 5 Pro now, and 8 months later DD comes out with an alternate Action, the buyer will just be able to swap them . . . at a cost no doubt. Great review and looks like a great gun.

    • @Deerslayer1912
      @Deerslayer1912 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd recommend building off a bighorn, ARC, or defiance action. All nicer actions than the DD and prefit barrels are easily available. For $2500, you can outfit one of those actions pretty well and get an overall nicer rifle.

    As always, your work is wonderful. However, I was hoping for a mention of how this stacks up against the Bergara wilderness HMR. You mentioned the Axis, but, because of your review, I'm saving up for the Bergara.

    • @AlabamaArsenal
      @AlabamaArsenal  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Appreciate that, and here's how it would stack up for me. The Bergara itself has a better action and that would seemingly make it a better rifle. Now the DD is in a chassis that gives it more features than the Bergara HMR. Now do you need all that stuff, no, but it is nice. Heres the thing, you could get the bergara then decide later to put it in a chassis if you feel like you need or want to. There is no easy way to make the action better on the DD. I'd feel good about telling you to get the Bergara, the DD is kind of something you have to shoot and see if the action bothers you. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!

    I had the original Delta 5. The gun shot .375 MOA all day long with Hornady 140 ELD match ammo. Big issue with the rifle and you can see it in the video here - the action is not smooth at all and when the bolt is all the way back and goes in, it takes some effort. It bothered me enough to get a new rifle and once I got into a defiance and Curtis customs actions, I realize how not smooth the DD is. Regardless, phenomenally accurate gun with a very durable barrel. Really well headspaced too.

    One of the main things I’m looking for in a high dollar bolt action rifle is positive feed control and a slick ass bolt throw.
    Their 1/2 MOA guarantee is impressive but if your fumbling with the action to get the next round chambered instead of getting on your next target, it will never make it’s way to my safe!
    Great review as always and as a fellow Alabama native, I’m glad to see such professionalism and class representing this great state!

      I've shot 2 of these rifles and on both the bolts are unacceptable for a gun in this price range. Gritty, easily binds, disappointing. It's a decent gun that's gonna be held back by some problematic details, especially when there are so many good options cheaper.

      @@Thecarbonviper like which ones? not counting a hunting rifle that you cant customize like one of these

      @@Cheaps928 so most precision rifles like this are fairly traditional rifle actions bedded or mounted in a chassis or the stock. So for the DD rifle you could remove it from the chassis that it's in and put it in a basic wood stock and it would be more of less a traditional hunting rifle.
      Some comparable options that I know are as accurate, and I think better rifles for less $:
      Tikka Tac A1 (the rifle I started with and use the action to compete with now in another chassis) ~$1800
      Ruger Precision Rifle ~$1100
      Seekins Precison Havok ~$2k
      That's just a couple factory guns I have experience with. All just as accurate as the DD and with mostly better aftermarket support as well, in additon to have actions that don't feel like trash. The Tikkas particularly have arguably the smoothest bolts on any production gun, rivaling some high $ custom actions.

      Apparently when I looked Daniel Defenses website it's no longer a 1/2 moa guarantee. It's now a "sub moa" or .75 moa guarantee. Which makes a lot of sense because there's not many factory ammos that can consistently perform at .5 moa levels. That's where the reloading bros come in to their own.

    Would you choose this in a 6.5 over the Bergara LRP you have ? I'm on the fence on which to buy.
    Mr. GNG said the barrel AND chamber are both cold hammer forged. Perhaps that makes it so accurate.
    Thanks

    3-shots isn't enough to determine the statistical precision of a rifle. Multiple groups of at least 5-shots--the more shots the more precise your estimation of the rifle's precision--with various loadings is the best data on your rifle's precision potential.

    Was your bolt hard to close/open? It looks so smooth in the videos and mine is so hard to lock/unlock.

    Question - What adapter do I need to run a Dead Air Nomad with the existing Area 419 (HELLFIRE) muzzle brake adapter? IS this purchased through DD or Dead Air ? Thanks !
