    I'm sorry but there was definatly noise reduction used, unless you had an enormous amount of light. My T4i would have a fit if I used 1600 or higher in them conditions.

    So many possibilities adding video capabilities to a true DSLR (none of that mirror-less nonsense)...that shot with the bike wheel being a marvelous example. The beautiful image quality of an SLR camera + Audio/Video = sex on fire

    To clear it out even further: NTSC is something that was invented when the black/white TV came out. when color was added they just modified it. PAL is just a different improved version.

    I didn't notice any noise until I started to look for it. Casually, all the shots look amazing. Only at 0:42 was there a really high amount of noise which detracted form the shot.

    this is so true. I love my 60d but the rebel series is about the same quality now anyway.
    Because the general set up of the EOS series is much more comfortable, I seriously hope they will announce the 7d mk II soon! The only thing I see useful on the 650D is the touch to focus, and that's not worth replacing my 60d for.

    I think you make a good point. I recently upgraded from a three year old Panasonic camcorder to a 600D. Of course the 600D is better with a lot more options for manually shooting, but the camcorder in bright light conditions definitely rivals the SLR in video quality.

    Why is it so hard to believe that they were sent a T4i before the announcement date to help with publicity? It's incredible how many people claim this is fake because they personally can't get the camera yet.

  • @akakanorway

    The t4i and t3i are pretty much identical in IQ. It's the lenses, PP and stabilization that makes it look so good.

    30fps is used for general everyday family/nature/vacation video. 60fps is usually used for documentaries or to slow things down. anything higher like 120 fps is used for slomo, like you said. but 24 fps is only used for cinematic video

  • @JedCamara
    @JedCamara 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really, thats pretty awsome then, good to see it's not just a half assed update from Canon. But still, I got the impression from some people commenting think that they think the body is the main reason for the quality in this video. The lenses are the main reason it looks great. If you were to put the 18 - 55mm kit lens on this camera it would look a lot worse. Just wanted to make sure people don't get confused and end up buying this camera when all they'd really need is get some better lenses.

    The Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 is a glorious lens. The 25mm f/.95 (yes, you read correctly) Voitlander is even more outstanding. And, of course, you can use any Canon lens on the GH2 as well.

    A lot of people think you need to get the best editor possible to make a good film, which isn't true. This video easily could have been done in imovie (minus the color correction, if any). Personally, unless you're doing some really hardcore effects that would require After Effects, I think you should stick with imovie, or go to final cut pro if you need more flexibility. But going from imovie to after effects is too big of a jump, in my opinion.

    I have a Panasonic TM20 and it does have manual controls. Manual focus is not easy to use however. You have to use the touch screen and press the + or - to manually focus it. I personally find it more difficult to use than manually focusing a lens on a DSLR. The camcorder's video has a bit more grain under pretty much all conditions except bright sunlight defused by clouds.

    it depends on your lens and if you kno what to do in editing. go check out the panasonic GH-3, if you want good results straight from the camera, then go for that. its an amazing camera that produces great results even without the need of correction in post production :)

  • @wonderwall135
    @wonderwall135 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my experience adding a light source (which can be a floor lamp or lantern, not a $2k Arri light, does not transfer a birthday party to a professional film set. But okay.
    I also wanted to add that the T4i, like any large sensor DSLR, is very good in lowlight. Just use a fast lens and your problems are solved. Canon, as well as Samyang/rokinon, Sigma, among a few other manufacturers, make lenses with max f1.4 aperture. Those are great for very dim situations. Even f2.8 is good enough for most.

    People put the video in 1080 HD and you will still see grains like on the 60D, T2i, T3i and Canon 5D Mark 2. This is the best way to see it's true quality is to put it in full HD. I'm not impress that much with this camera, except for the auto focus, and touch screen. Maybe I need to see more video reviews.

    I almost can't believe this quality at high ISO. I guess they used an expensive very fast lens, and just assumed the ISO would be that high in low light, without compensating for the large amounts of light let in by the lens. That's the only explanation I can think of.

  • @landofnir
    @landofnir 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dslr cameras like this one are often paired with "kit lenses" that are good enough for still photography on a budget and come bundled with the camera at a discounted price. However, for video you would want a 28mm f/1.8 which no, a lens like that doesn't come with the camera. You can buy the kit lens or buy the body with no lens.

  • @VideoAmericanStyle
    @VideoAmericanStyle 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having used both, I'd say GH2 is on par if not slightly better than the t2i/t3i for low light. Obviously Mk III beats them all. As it should, considering it costs 4x the price.

    Nice video, im new to the game of photography and im just curious as to what would be better suited for a start up camera. Ive looked around and some say ones better than the other and its become a hard decision. My 3 options are the Canon 550d, Cannon 60d or the Canon 650d. They all have different features that set each other apart. So i figure why not ask the people that clearly know more about this then me. Thankyou in advance if anyone can help me out.

    How does the T4i deal with older lens in video auto-focus mode, like the Sigma 30mm F1.4 you've used, does it work fast focusing and does it make much noise in audio recording?
    I also have one of those Sigma lens, and a Canon 15-85 with Imake Stabilizer and would like to know what to expect from this lens in video recording. Other feature I'd love to see is more than 8bit/channel in video recording for future High contrast OLED screens should be perfect ;)

    Well played, but 30 fps is still common used where YOU live. The rest of the world uses 25fps. And 24fps is mostly 23.976fps. and 30fps is mostly 29.976fps. And i know what the different frame rates do, i'm on a film school and have a Canon 600D myself. And i think NTSC is something that should just be banned in this world but i still need to work with it sometimes... but i always convert it to PAL because that is the most common used format. Oh and you also have SECAM but thats just weird.

    damn, did how is there so little noise at ISO 1600 and 3200? I have a 50mm 1.4 on my T2i and at that ISO setting, it gets incredibly noisey. Is there a huge improvement in that department from t2i to t4i?
