One great feature of the 60D is that it's weather sealed. I owe a T4i and am thinking about the 60D as a 2nd body - and especially for light rain shoots. - Caveat: few of my lens are weather sealed.
Dave, I know it is a subjective thing but your reviews, your on screen manner and the points that you cover are exactly what I look for in a review. You give relevant information in a easy to digest format so keep doing what you do please :)
Thanks Dave for your comments. I have a T4i which I enjoy and I have not experienced any 'crashing' moments with the unit at all. One of the things I would like to know is - what camera can rebound from a fall of, say, 3 feet and work the way it used to.
This review & comparison is even much more than I expected. And much respect for not prompting people to just buy every single new thing out there and giving people cheaper options. More power to you!
Dave, once again you give us a wonderful review. When I saw the 19min mark on the video, the first thing I thought was "wow, how much work did he have for preparing that?". And then there's the quality of everything, with an amazing amount of really important information, explained in a soft but entertaining way. I hope teaching is one of your jobs, 'cause it seems you do it perfectly. All the best!
It will be just fine - I have had my T4i and older rebel XT out in all kinds of conditions - just don't let it get soaked but damp, cold, freezing, light rain are all OK.
very nice share ,thank you .I steel don't underastand, wich one is the best.I have a canon 550D with a 18/135 lens.I a very good camera, thank you once again for your explain.
The Canon Rebel T3i takes the consumer level dSLR a couple steps closer to the mid-level Canon 60D with the addition of the rotating rear LCD screen, remote flash firing, and in-camera processing features. I bought the T2i first, then decided to upgrade to the T3i, buy it on: #amzn.to/1dD9uGD
I have to say... between you, thatNikonGuy and Mr Neumann....you guys have the patience of saints. You guys are very informative and are just providing everyone with a little bit of education and information. Yet some people still think that they are owed something. I've seen a couple people attempt to bait you into arguments and I admire that you don't let certain comments get to you. Keep up the good work. For an amateur, (maybe advanced amateur now), I'm impressed.
I'm not gonna lie, your videos don't have as many views as they should considering how accurate, objective, and open you are but at the same time you should be glad because you don't seem to have any negativity in your following. That's something to be excited for. Keep up the good work!
look up MAGIC LANTERN free software - get that quick focus mode back and shoot video in RAW just like the top of the line dslr's in the canon family - im surprised more people do not use it - you will love it i promise

Dave Dugdale hai dave thx for this video, can you please upload a video of 60d vs 700d, i am strugling badly to select one of these two, please help me with it. NOTE - video auto focus is not big matter for me.
Dave, I'm saying goodbye to my t4i, and upgrading to 6D, wish I watched your videos when I was using my t4i.... guys tune-in, he's got allot of good videos!
sorry for my english. first of all your review is so user friendly this is what you need if you ara beginner or pro level. main thing is that you explain step by step. its priceless!!!
Dave, your videos are incredibly informative, easy to understand and insanely well edited. The comparisons you make are crystal clear and you really do separate yourself out from a lot of the rubbish that's on youtube. I can tell you spend a lot of time doing these videos (editing etc) so it's a treat to see someone on youtube that actually does it with passion. Thanks, I'll be subscribing to you (and hopefully trade in my 1100d to a 650d!)
I've found that the rear dial on the 60D is almost reason enough to buy it over the Rebel cameras. SO helpful. I agree that image quality should be priority, but you also have to think about productivity. Some seemingly small features can make the biggest difference when used in the real world. The rear dial, top LCD, weather resistance, and Kelvin WhiteBalance(Yes!) are some features that make the 60D totally worth it for me. Oh and Magic Lantern interface on 60D is much better than t2i
I must say, I looked at a bunch of videos out there for this particular comparison and couldn't find something as close as this in term of quality and details. Subscribed!
I'm 16 and I am taking photos since I was 12. I watched lots of videos on youtube that helped me to improve my photography. Just wanted to thank you for your nice and helpful videos. I recently got my 60D and after watching this video I'm glad I did that. Have a nice day :)
I'm trying to decide between the T4i and the D5200 and have been watching reviews non-stop for weeks. Yours are by far the best -- most thorough, well-produced, and well-delivered. Thanks a lot. I'll try to buy some gear on your site so you can keep doing these.
I am the 900th person to like this video as I believe that you are doing a GREAT job in explaining the difference to novices likes us the difference between the SLRs. Keep up the great job.
Well done review. Most reviews we've seen, are not with the actual products, but comments on the specs of the camera's; just giving an opinion from on screen research or on paper. Keep up the good work, we are marking a thumbs up for this review and info. We own a 60D.
Hello Dave. My compliments on this great review. Very detailed and one of the best (video-) reviews I have ever seen on the web. Bought the 650D/T4i for my father and suggested your extensive course for it. Great job, keep up the good work.
Just finished your video course on T4i/650D. Gotta say it made a lot of difference. I feel really comfortable with the camera considering that I only have had it for a week. Keep up the great work, David!
I just got myself a Canon 60D during a black Friday sale on refurbished cameras in Canon's store. I am absolutely pleased with it so far, but I need to get out there to take some real photos. Thanks for the comparison!
Dave, You not only have warm and inviting presence on screen, I absolutely love your detailed and fair-minded presentation. Superb supporting graphics and elegant delivery. I'm a great fan today.
The best review I've seen so far. The camera's are extensively used and put to the challenge during the review for us to see. Specs aren't just read out loud and you cover things that matter. I have an old Nikon D50. I really want to replace it.
Same dilemma!!!! The 60d and 650d are brilliant cameras in their own ways. I'm leaning more towards the 60d. The only thing holding me back is the possibility of an upcoming replacement.
Thanks for the well rounded review video. The wife and I are upgrading from an XSi, and recently purchased a T4i. Unsure about its performance, we were wondering if we should have gone 60D. I find the video autofocusing mode VERY gimmicky, but have not handled a 60D to compare. We also purchased the 40mm 2.8 lens with the camera, and find that it is very imprecise and slow to focus. Much less than impressed with it, and neither our 18-55 or 50mm 1.8 is any better.
Loving your videos. I've been rocking a 30D for so long and I finally upgraded to a used 650D today. It is sad to know that the image sensor hasn't changed since 2009, but I'm excited to finally be able to shoot video, have wireless control over my Speedlite, and be able to fully use apps like DSLR Controller.
Thanks for uploading. I'm a starting filmmaker and just bought the 650D and asked myself I made the right choice. Thanks to this video I think I did! Like to learn more.
I began shooting with the 60D and now use an A7 III. It's fun to look back on this video and see just how far camera's have come. I love your comment about the video-af especially :D Kind Regards from Denmark Jørgen
Dave, fantastic video comparison and review. Its answered many of my questions, I've used a Canon XA-10 for upwards of a year now, and I've recognized its limitations in terms of cinematic quality and was looking for something that I could stretch some artistic muscle with on a budget. The T4i looks like a fantastic camera for the price, and I can attest to how nice the touch screen is, the XA-10 has the same feature (And UI). This will definitely help with my transition to the path of the DSLR.
Hi Dave, thank you so much for this fantastic video, i am looking into upgrading and not sure which to go for with the 650D or the 60D, I have a 1100D (not sure what it's called over the pond, Rebel T3 I think), so for the upgrade, which I am looking at for picture quality, would you say the 650D would be the better choice? Thanks so much again for this fantastic video.
Just bought this camera and it's amazing 😍 people just don't understand that auto focus on video isn't really needed because otherwise focus puller job role wouldn't exist... everything is done manually when you do a film degree like myself 🖒💯
Recently purchased t4i (first Dslr) and am so glad I found your videos and website. Thanks. Just wish I had found it prior to purchase. It would have saved me weeks of researching and review comparing, etc. Purchased T4i lesson from your website. Currently more a photography advanced amateur, but here's to hoping for a great new future in video making. Cheers.
One of the best reviews i've ever seen, clear, right to the point, no wasting time! Great job Dave and thank you very much for the time and quality you put on this preview. By the way i'm getting a T4i. I had a T2i and after tree months the screen viewer turned off by itself, send it back and I've got the refound. But after all I really like this camera T4i. Cheers, happy new year!!
Depends on your budget, I brought my 1st DSLR a while ago and I went for the 60D. I didn't even consider the 1100d or and of the real entry level DSLR's. I did also look at the the 600D/650D too. Some would say that between the two in this video, If you want to get into video, choose the 650D. Where as if you want to get into stills choose the 60D, but you still have the video feature if you want.
Well done Dave. A used T2i with the EF-S 18-135 is a great first-time DSLR setup. You can currently find this combo in good to excellent condition for around $600 US for both. High quality stills and HD video for a small price. Just take the time to learn how to operate it!
Thanks Dave your videos have been a big help and shot my first wedding using DSLR's and loved the result. The T4i is my second DSLR and I love it and fits my budget well. Now you can get it for $600 on Amazon and I recommend it as your first DSLR.
Great comparison. Very informative. I own a 60D myself and I love it to death. I also want to just point out that the stock music you use at 2:47 is the exact same that we use in the intro video for the church at which I work. Made me grin a little. I actually like it.
Great stuff, Dave, very professional. I have been shooting broadcast news (local and national) for many years with the big 20 lb cameras. I recently purchased my first DSLR, the T4i. I love it so far but have much to learn. The STM 18 - 135 lens sold me big time as I love that lens as a b-roll camera, handheld and moving around. The auto focus is slick. The 50 mm 1.8 is a sweet lens for primary interviews with great bokeh. I plan to purchase your video series. Thanks! Mark from Markymarkmedia
Here in Denmark the T4i is called the Canon EOS 650D. It marks the full cirkel in terms of model number from the very first Canon EOS from Canon, the Canon EOS 650 from 1987. I used the analog EOS 650 a lot back then, and it still works.
Wow this is a REALLY great review! I love how in depth you get, and how you explain everything. I subscribed and added this to my favorites. You're now one of my favorite camera guys on TH-cam (:
YES! Finally found a review that adresses my problems with choosing between these two. It's going to be the 60D. Why? Because of the ammount of crosstype point, the fact i dont need and never had a touchscreen on my dslr and the grip. That's it. But it took me 6 months to find out. I thank you for this vid!!!
Dave, your reviews are just great than any one on TH-cam. We are waiting for your 70D review, coz its a new crop sensor with digic 5+, and I hope you can make good comparison between the image quality between the old crop sensor. :)
For the photo you show at 4:10, I see a big differences between the images, even without looking closely. The 650D looks a lot sharper, but the 60D has lots more detail in the shadows. At 5:00, the 60D looks a lot sharper than the 650D, but there is more evident noise. The 650D shows less noise, but there is a lot less detail and smudging of the image.

I am a Brazilian going to the US next month and your video has helped to me so much to decide what camera to buy! Thanks a lot! :)
Hi Jorge, On the 60D that 24mm end up 38.4mm which does make using it tight sport rather tricky. If you need to go wide you cant! Having said that the lens is so sharp and the image stabilisation is amazing. The glass in this lens is awesome! It is my "for almost everything" lens. The perfect partners for this lens would be the 70-200 f/2.8 mk2 I.S and the Tokina 11mm-16 mm F/2.8 well IMHO that is.... HTH Malc CPTV

I just spent 3 wks in Asia shooting everyday with the T3i. Loved that it was lightweight compare to the full frame Canon. I am giving the T3i to my kid for Christmas and updated to the T4i. Love it a lot, especially the new lens. I think the T4i is worth the upgrade, especially from T2i. (gave it away also) At this time of the year you can get it on sale for $799 with the new kit. Great price for that camera.
Old video I know, but you can clearly see at 6400 the t4i has less noise than the 60D, while the 60D seemed to hold more sharpness. I’m really surprised this wasn’t pointed out as it seemed fairly obvious to me.
Hi Dave, I keep going back to your videos because of the quality. I'm guessing whatever you do for your day job, that you are very detailed oriented....Great videos.
I got a 60d off eBay. Sadly, I couldn't get an 18-135mm to accompany the wide angle kit lens, but I'm thinking about getting one in the long run. It is definitely worth the upgrade to anyone who's thinking about it, it works great as a telephoto lens.
Extremely helpful! I just bought the Canon 60D and was wondering if maybe I should've bought the T4i...I do really like the touch screen, but now that I've made my purchase, I think I'll be plenty happy with the 60D. Now I have to save up for some quality lenses! Looking forward to watching more of your videos too! Thank you so very much!
I have been watching quite a few reviews and by far this was one of the best! Great screenshots whilst you commented and great comparison review between the two products. Great work Dave from, from the UK.
It depends. He'strying to steer clear of giving people the wrong impression of the two cameras. For example, he talked about the 60D's Quick Focus mode being a positive, while the T4i's video AF was a positive. He didn't say which he liked more. That's because what features you need depend on the kind of things you film. QF and videoAF serve different roles. The best he can do without misleading people is to say "these are the features and what they are for, decide which one you need and buy"
Tremendous video....you clearly answered any question I may had, or comparison I would've needed. And the video looked fabulous. Keep up the great work, sir, and thanks for your efforts & wisdom!
So many videos seem to be promoting or reviewing one camera. Your review felt shorter than its duration due how you spoke and compared the cameras. Thank you for this wonderful review! I will check out more.
I truly have to agree with sinetwo, you definately seperate yourself from these other videos that nothing but take up your valuable time. Your videos are very straight forward and clear. I always enjoy watching your videos and for that I subscribed to your channel. You inspire me take better and more photos and learn more about the camera itself. I can't wait till the 7d Mark II comes out cause i'm interested in buying it. I look forward to your next video. Keep up the good videos!!
Hey Dave, You've absolutely packed everything you could into this video about both these cameras, which makes your review probably one of the best. Even better than Kai's review over at DigitalRev. I love the music and the quality of your test videos inside. Did you do the editing for this video? What software did you use? Thanks -Tyrone.
I bought the 60D for my B camera to go along with my 5D MK2 mainly for the ability to swap the batteries and the battery accessories. They both use the same batteries. Rob
I don't beleive that the 60D has in-camera HDR modes, but I am pretty sure that the 650D does. That might be something to consider if you are specifically aiming at HDR. Of course you can do it in post-processing too if you got the 60D. Hope this helps.
Good wrap-up.. Only thing you didn't mention was the immensely useful second control wheel on the 60D.. If you're shooting in full manual, this extra control makes life a LOT easier :)
Great review video Dave, very useful for us folks across the pond in the UK who like myself are deciding between the 60D and 650d. I love how professional the video edit is, almost reminds me of a Apple product video, very classy!! (compliment by the way!!).
Very informative and practical for the common user. Just focuses on the realistic factors required for choosing camera which is more value than the nitty gritties of pixel level differences usually talked about much in other reviews that never impact the human eye.
I don't know why but you look like a super kind guy
In a day or two I am still working some new issues out with my new server. Sorry for the delay.
One great feature of the 60D is that it's weather sealed. I owe a T4i and am thinking about the 60D as a 2nd body - and especially for light rain shoots. - Caveat: few of my lens are weather sealed.
If you are like me wait and upgrade on when the image quality gets better.
Dave, I know it is a subjective thing but your reviews, your on screen manner and the points that you cover are exactly what I look for in a review. You give relevant information in a easy to digest format so keep doing what you do please :)

But Dave, Dave!! :-) At ISO 6400 I could def see, that the T4i-image had less noise!!
This review & comparison is even much more than I expected. And much respect for not prompting people to just buy every single new thing out there and giving people cheaper options. More power to you!
can you explain how you recorded this video! I'm so impressed by the quality! can you tell me from camera- lens and lights!
It is the 3rd link in the description.
Imagine if you were accidently comparing the same images from one of the cameras the whole time. lol.
Dave, once again you give us a wonderful review. When I saw the 19min mark on the video, the first thing I thought was "wow, how much work did he have for preparing that?". first of all your review is so user friendly this is what you need if you ara beginner or pro level.
main thing is that you explain step by step.
its priceless!!!
I wasn't even aware of the quick focus mode on my 60D until watching this video. You basically parted clouds for me. Thanks so much.
You're the first person I have seen in a video that knows how to smartly and concisely cut to the chase. Excellent video
Being a beginner in SLR photography. The touch screen on the 650D sealed the deal for me.
Thanks for the review.

This guy does real good reviews on his stuff
Thanks Dave your videos have been a big help and shot my first wedding using DSLR's and loved the result. The T4i is my second DSLR and I love it and fits my budget well. Now you can get it for $600 on Amazon and I recommend it as your first DSLR.
Great comparison. Very informative. I own a 60D myself and I love it to death.
I also want to just point out that the stock music you use at 2:47 is the exact same that we use in the intro video for the church at which I work. Made me grin a little. I actually like it.
That is the 40mm f/2.8 STM, he has a filter on it so it looks a little different.
Excellent review! I wasn't even looking to buy the cameras, I just found your review to be entertaining!
Thanx for the most saturated reviews Dave! I really appreciate your HUGE Work!
hi from Estonia.
One of the best reviews what i have ever seen.
Dave your really good at making reviews as well as photography, I got my T3i after watching one of your comparison. Thank you.
THIS REVIEW WAS ONE OF THE BEST I EVER SAW!! LOVELY COMPARISON!
I'm going with the 60D. Mainly because of its build quality.

I did a lot of research on this, take a look at page 161 at the bottom, "The [Quick mode] cannot be set for movie mode."
I have it all listed on my gear page.
I got a 60d off eBay. Sadly, I couldn't get an 18-135mm to accompany the wide angle kit lens, but I'm thinking about getting one in the long run. It is definitely worth the upgrade to anyone who's thinking about it, it works great as a telephoto lens.
I might have to give one a try sometime, that would be fun!
God, that's what i call a professional review and comparaison. Amazing man, thank you!
I have been watching quite a few reviews and by far this was one of the best! Great screenshots whilst you commented and great comparison review between the two products. Great work Dave from, from the UK.
Great review! I just ordered a T4i my first DSLR so your review was very helpful and you have a new subscriber.
650d it is,more features , newer processor,same sensor with 6d.
very nice review by the way ! keep it up
The best he can do without misleading people is to say "these are the features and what they are for, decide which one you need and buy"
what did you film this video with?
when u say "full frame camera" what kind of camera is the t4i if it isnt a full frame? I'm not sure what that means
Yes that is true.
Tremendous video....you clearly answered any question I may had, or comparison I would've needed. And the video looked fabulous. Keep up the great work, sir, and thanks for your efforts & wisdom!
70D if you want auto focus in movie mode and a better sensor.
Hey Dave,
You've absolutely packed everything you could into this video about both these cameras, which makes your review probably one of the best. Even better than Kai's review over at DigitalRev. I love the music and the quality of your test videos inside. Did you do the editing for this video? What software did you use?
Thanks
-Tyrone.
Thanks, please give it a 'Like' if you have a second.
