Holy hell we are building the wall of Uruk with this🧱🛠🔥 I am from southern Iraq and I appreciate your work Mr Peter and I listen to it all the time and I can confirm that your singing style is still alive there🇮🇶💙🇬🇧
It moves me in ways I can’t articulate that you work so hard to give our ancestors a voice. Whether your performances are accurate or original, they are deeply moving.
Some People: If I had a time machine I'd go back and meet my great grandparents and learn their lives. Me on the other hand: "GILGAMESH NO! DON'T KILL HUMBABA! IT WILL SPELL YOUR DOOM!"
You are such a treasure for sharing this, just the thought of all the amazing people and time that was needed to be able to listen to this makes me shudder and makes me joyful of being able to experience it, please keep the amazing work you are doing ❤
Thank you! The epic of Gilgamesh left such a strong impression on me when I first read it as a teenager, and your beautiful interpretation gives it a new life
Despite being simple story, with your voice and music, Peter, it brought this ancient epic alive. This is better than 98% or more of all media together
Vraiment superbe mon cher. On peut ressentir à travers les expressions de ton visage , à travers ton gestuel et ta voix , la profondeur de cette ' vidéo ' magnifique. Bravo 👏 et Merci . 💚
You've done this epic such a great service. Listening to this brings tears for my eyes, for Gilgamesh, for Enkidu, the kindness of Ninsun. May the Gods delight in your music and may Ishtar bless you Peter.
What an absolutely enrapturing, otherworldly sound. If this is what ancient warriors thought of when they said "They'll sing songs of our battles", I think I understand why they endured such brutality in such a tough world.
Oh, Peter, there thou art, oh bard of the ancient times. I am glad you started well and as amazing as ever into this new year. Thank you for the song and return back to the first and greatest of them all.
Thank you for bringing alive these very ancient voices to my western ears. Such an arcane and dark force that these Sumerians emanated from their art, in a unique and beautiful way. So much of our civilization can be traced back to them.. even in context of our Christian culture, Abraham was born in Uruk after all… makes you wonder
The build-up and tension in that performance was incredible. Gilgamesh might be a brave and stupid idiot of a warrior, but i am still going to be here for part 2.
Me and a close friend of mine have loved your work for the past 5 years, Mr. Pringle, and both your picking style and the stories you share with us inspire my own creative endeavors Can't wait for part two!
poor humbaba, it ie odd how Enkidu was so hesitant to go after him but was the one to urge his execution when he was defenseless and pleading with gilgemesh for his life.
Wonderful as always, thanks for keeping these ancient stories alive and making them so accessible. I also really appreciate your video descriptions - great reference from TNG!
Good Star Trek reference at the end of the description. The importance of stories is knowing and repeating, not in hearing once and never speaking of again.
I feel glad and honored to have found Peter Pringle's channel a few years ago. Having access, *for free*, to artistic renditions of millenia-old legends truly is humbling. It's like staring at reconstructions of ancient artifacts in a museum. Sure they're not the *real* deal but you have to admit, this is incredible in terms of cultural preservation and accessibility. As I've done many times before, I'll show this to my friends next time we hang out. They will like it. Thank you for your work Mr Pringle. Your art has no equal. Can't wait for part two.
So glad to have another excellent piece to listen to! ❤ Your voice is lovely and powerful. You have a vibrant force to you. Would adore if a collection of your ancient music was produced at some point.
Always a great day when Peter Pringle puts out another Sumerian song! I love listening to these as background music. They're very relaxing and make me yearn for a time long before I even existed.
Maybe it was fate, was watching some of your earlier works today...and now a new banger dropped. The day automatically became 999% better. 👏🏻🗿 Thank you, Peter. 🙏🏻🗿
@Pheeze I shared it but I think TH-cam deleted the comment, it's called "He Who Saw the Deep" on Spotify. It's just a collection of songs that remind me (lyrically and/or musically) of parts of the story. Suggestions welcome :)
The age is bronze but the music is gold.

Sounds just as fresh as it did in 3500 bc

This music is beautiful.
Takes me back thousands of years into the past.
It was a difficult time, but beautiful in its own way.

A new song for the Epic of Gilgamesh... Always delightful, thank you very much, Mr. Pringle

We need to protect this man at all costs, Mr. Pringle please never stop this amazing work. I am in awe as always.
This is a gorgeous telling, can't wait for part two!
The build-up and tension in that performance was incredible. Gilgamesh might be a brave and stupid idiot of a warrior, but i am still going to be here for part 2.
Your dedication is immense. Thank you for this moving recreation of the past.
The legend returns.
I love these so much and the descriptions of each video teach so much each time. Thank you Mr. Pringle

These interpretation of the epic are very exciting, I'm glad they keep coming out, thanks for such masterful performances.
I've been this excited for a notification for ages 🙃
We need a playlist in chronological order now!
poor humbaba, it ie odd how Enkidu was so hesitant to go after him but was the one to urge his execution when he was defenseless and pleading with gilgemesh for his life.
Wasn't he just hesitant because of Humbaba toughness?
Great stuff…your getting better at bringing the entire story together into a single coherent narrative…love it
Wonderful as always, thanks for keeping these ancient stories alive and making them so accessible. I also really appreciate your video descriptions - great reference from TNG!
So glad this dropped before my journey to Urduk 🙏🙏🙏
Will any of your Gilgamesh tracks be on iTunes, Spotify, etc.? I'd really love to purchase these specific recordings. Thanks - such a big fan!
Hell yeah. THIS is what ancient scholarship should be
Good Star Trek reference at the end of the description. The importance of stories is knowing and repeating, not in hearing once and never speaking of again.
For context, the cedar forest is modern-day Lebanon, considered the edge of the world back then
Soon I can finally listen to the whole epic in one go without hiring an ancient Sumerian to sing it for me.
Great to see him still doing these
That drum sounds so damn epic
Hell yeah, first Pringle update in '25! I have an exam in a couple hours but this banger is more important obviously. "His breath is fire" indeed 🔥
studying about centrifuging cell organels listening to this banger
Amazing work thank you Peter!
You have an amazing voice! I was speechless when I heard you sing as Ninsun, fenomenal.
A melody for all the beautiful flowers
I look forward to being in your presence and experiencing your music in person some day 💚🙏💚
Thank you.
No way I'm here within a few hours of this dropping. I was just looking for a new (old) Sumerian banger to listen to this evening.
