- In this episode of Crime Scene Cleaning, Laura and the gang tackle what might be the most disgusting job we've ever seen.
Six months ago, a condominium was devastated by a massive sewage backup. Allegedly, a tenant had tried to flush baby wipes down the toilet, which clogged the line and flooded the whole building with raw sewage. The homeowner just now called for help. It was discovered the homeowner was a hoarder, which explains why they didn't. call for help from the start. They've already been turned down by another remediation company. But no job is too big for Spaulding Decon...
This hoarding job is heartbreaking. We're sharing it with you so you can see why it's so important to properly check up on loved ones.

How does a building not get condemned after something like this? Not just for the sewage, but for the insect infestation. The cockroach infestation wouldn't just be limited to her unit. Especially once the cleanup started. Those roaches would have been scattering everywhere, including other units. The whole building is going to become totally infested (if it isn't already). I wouldn't want to live anywhere in that building.
"I didnt know its as bad as it was"
Lady... your floor was a literal💩 river and you had 40 roaches per sq foot of the place.
Mental illness 🤷🏽♀️
Shit river lol I'm sorry that was too funny
she was probably raised in a house like this it was probably normal to her
@@afenismamaDoing this kind of job will for sure give you mental illness too. Having to witness what’s essentially a deep layer of hell. Contagious mental illness.

This one got to me. Hoarding AND sewage AND mold AND huge roaches? I honestly have a hard time believing this woman was living in this condo for months under these conditions. How? How did she not get sick from any of these issues?! I guess if the poop lady from Hoarders can live the way she did, so can this woman … And what about the person next door?! How we’re they okay with this? We lived in a duplex next to an older woman who for some reason had an extra fridge that wasn’t plugged in … and it was still full of food. I think she had it like that for 5 months when we started smelling it and the landlord took care of it. I can’t imagine living next door to THIS.
I'm thinking surely she can't have been living there? She also says she "didn't know it was that bad". My guess is she moved somewhere else when the sewage happened...
When I was about 17 we lived in an apartment that had a mold infestation. It started with a slow leak in the wall from the apartment above us. It went on for so long that the walls in the hallway were soggy and the flooring was drenched. We discovered where exactly the leak was coming from when our neighbor went out of town for a couple of weeks. Everything was dry then. To shorten the story a bit, once the leak was fixed it wasn’t dried out properly. And mold grew to the point where I had mold in and around my lungs. It almost killed me. I spent 5 days in the hospital getting all kinds of tests and procedures done to drain the fluid from my chest. So to see this lady living like this is heartbreaking.
@@yozegamiidk at 10:13 they say that the woman had been living there for months
@@mcrchickenluvrbeing allergic to mold and growing up in it, I can only imagine how sick you were. I’m so sorry!
The poop lady was a sad one. Dumping her bucket in the front yard. 😢
Some people are afraid of spiders. Some people are terrified of snakes. I am absolutely petrified of roaches. I literally screamed about that roach on Laura. It almost looked like it was about to crawl out of my screen. When she said the roaches are biting a new fear unlocked. They bite??? I’ll be sleeping with the lights on tonight.
I clean and do jobs for houses that have roaches and it’s the worst thing ever. Something about them is just so disgusting and I can’t even squish them cause they’re so big but I’m glad they’re usually all dead 🙏🏼
Yes those Big roaches Bite. I was a pest control technician in the 80s and there was a mobile home so filthy and roach infested that their Baby had roach bites from the dirty feces and food encrusted crib. 😢
Hearing that they BITE was news to me too. I've NEVER been bitten by one thankfully and hope I NEVER do. Nightmare Fuel.
@@SharonJones-ql8oy😢
I can't with roaches,smell....the fecal floor. Ugh!! Where's the Bulldozer? Why was she still there during clean out? Where's the HOA?
I remember watching your TH-cam channel when i was a teen. I interviewed for a small company for bio technician. I told him how i watched all your videos and he gave me the job. Who knew you would of helped me become a bio technician. Im now 31 and being trained to be a project manager. ❤
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! tell me she DID NOT have a poor kitty living with her in these horrible horrible conditions. I saw a few cat things in this mess and I pray to God there wasn't a kitty made to live this way. I really really respect what Laura and Spaulding Decon has to do. Bless all of you for having the strength to do this kind of work.
They always have animals it’s so sad :( why put helpless animals through this when they could be in another home with a loving family
I just heard about cat poop in the bedroom...so yes, there was a cat. 😢
Yes, unfortunately I believe Laura mentioned that she has 2 cats. 😞
Of course there were cats there’s always cats.
You worried about the cat. When there is an entire human living there
I'm surprised the homeowner / hoarder was so chill about letting them remove all her stuff. From what I understand, hoarders have a certain amount of anxiety about getting rid of anything, even if it's garbage. I feel bad that all her furniture and clothing had to be thrown out too.
What I was thinking. I also hope that by getting help cleaning, that the homeowner gets themselves some help for the hoarding, and that this gives them a new start😢
Not every person living in a hoarding situation lives that way because they don't want to get rid of anything. In many cases, extremely severe depression can be a cause for living in squalor like this. Other mental health struggles can result in this as well.
Many of them are willing and want to change how they live and get rid of all the stuff. But cant because of physical, mental or financial problems
I don't feel bad one iota that they threw out all of her furniture or clothes - nobody wants that stinking crap around!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
Must be weird/uncomfortable for the lady to see the place she lives being cleaned by people practically wearing hazmat suits . I would not want to overhear the conversations. But, my god, what an improvement!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
This is the first episode in a few years that has made me feel really queasy. The raw sewage plus roaches is a whole new level of blargh.
Thank you, Laura, for taking on this horrible job for this person. Kudos to you and all the crew members who were working in these unimaginable conditions. I sincerely hope this woman can get her life back in some kind of order now.
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?

I am a medical professional and love watching your videos. Human decomp doesn't phase me, blood doesn't phase me, even fresh liquid feces from patients doesn't phase me. But that carpet and flooring made me gag. Y'all are really doing the Lord's work here. Such an underappreciated line of work.
This is way more than a 6 months buildup! But... they can't have stayed in there for 6 m after the backup either!
Thanks for all that you guys do!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
It is so hard to believe people can live like that and just don't realize that they are living in those conditions.Just horrible.
Damn 😳🤮
How have the neighbors been able to endure the smell??
Was wondering the same thing.
I assume since condos are connected the adjacent condos also had sewage problems so they left before it got this bad.
Extremely sad. I hope this lady gets the help she needs. 😢
Laura, your kindness is incredible! I’m so impressed with your employees and your very difficult jobs! Thank you for being an amazing human! ❤
Thank you so much!

@@CrimeSceneCleaningwhat happened to posting videos on a regular basis?
I mean Laura is already used to bad odors, but in this episode she was disturbed by the smell.
Meanwhile, the lady was just chilling out without any mask 😮😌
In my teens I used to clean out condemned buildings in Chicago. I thought that was bad, but this has that beat.

…”I could smell it from the parking lot.” Holy crap, if the smell permeates the parking lot, how many apartment units have tenants blowing chunks right now? I can’t even imagine.
Is this woman from your neighborhood? 😅
When her hair touched the wall in 3:30, like girl please put your hood/cap on. Huge respect for you to do this and not freak out, really ❤
OMG! Someone needs to tell this lady going forward, not to flush baby wipes. As always, you guys did a great job! Hopefully this lady will get some help and not do this again
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
She didn’t flush the wipes, somone else in the condo did . It just overflowed in her condo units bathroom. And she was a hoarder, so she didn’t tell anyone t it when it first happened, so it just leaked sewage for months.
I hope the lady sues her neighbor for being stupid, then. @@teresahiggs4896

My very best wishes to the homeowner. I hope for a fresh start and a better quality life from here on ❤
These people never change. My roommate had to get emergency surgery and i cleaned 10 bags of garbage out of her room for her to have a clean place to recover. It's been three days and theres already garbage and half eaten food waste i the corners of the room. It's sad and ridiculous.
I very much doubt it, poor woman has serious mentali issues .
@@pissip - they basically have to go to a Rehabilitation unit for changing their ways. Sometimes it's depression. Most often its a form of Real Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I'm surprised you still consider her a roommate.
Let's hope she stops being lazy, destructive, and reckless.
No matter how many long, very hot showers would I ever feel clean again! Hats off to Laura and her team!!!!!!
Idk how they do it im alnost dry heaving just watching this 🤢
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
She could smell it from the PARKING LOT. Thank God for those respirators.
Imagine going into that place WITHOUT a hazmat suit on and living, eating and sleeping in there! Absolutely horrible and so incredibly sad
I am slowing down as I get older….and getting rid of so many personal belongings….I just can’t imagine having to have any one else have to deal with my unnecessary items.
I hope she can recover from this tragedy!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
All the videos I've watched have never bothered me beyond feeling empathy for the people or family affected. My stomach is pretty hardy and mess, rotten food, dead/rotten things, medical waste etc don't bother me. But imagining this poor lady trudging through this raw sewage, wanting help but being afraid to ask because of her hoarding for months breaks my heart.
I'd have aged 20 years if I spent 20 minutes in there
My goodness, never seen such filthiness before. This is a huge job for these people to do! Wow.
I have the utmost respect for all the staff at Spaulding for the kind of job they have to do, a job that no one wants to do and should not do. Unbelievable. How people deteriorate so much to live in those conditions, it is beyond my comprehension.
And those roaches crawling everywhere, give me the creeps. I am afraid of them……I know they are smaller than I am, but can’t help it to feel fearful of them. Actually, I am terrified!
And I read a woman was living under these conditions??? I am speechless. Is she old??? I am shocked that no one complaint about having roaches, and the filthiness of that apartment or condominium. It is a condo of horror.
Moral of the story: don't flush baby wipes
Also i need to know why roaches are so fast!! Was trying to catch one the other day and i almost lost his ass!!
Yikes. If this woman flushed those wipes, she's gonna be paying so much money.
I just don’t see how this is salvageable, because all the subflooring, and all the drywall and part of the framing certainly would be damaged from the mold and the sewage. This was a very difficult one to watch and very difficult to watch you all struggle to clean it up. My hat is off to you all for being so tough.
Daaang, those were some big, athletic looking roaches
So sad she lived in those conditions for months but I'm glad your team was there to help her out n hopefully she can move on healthier n hopefully she can get nurses or anyone to help keep her home clean after. Much love n strength to you n your team for doing all the jobs you all do, for the living n the ones who have passed on. Tons of love prayers goes out to this woman for going thru what she did.
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?

I can't believe this, why did this woman choose to live like this? 😢
Absolutely DISGUSTING and incredibly sad! I really hope no animals/pets were subjected to this horrendous situation because unlike the resident they have absolutely no ability to leave! 😢
I’m wishing you guys all the success in the world, you deserve every penny, dollar, dime for this
Those are gigantic, glossy backed Combat Roaches!! And just imagine, that's one person's ilk and filth!!! I'm petrified of Roaches!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
I truly hope these people get paid well.
She said she didn't know it was that bad!?! 😵💫
I think the part that's throwing me the most is that lady is walking around in there wearing sandals like the floor isn't completely soaked with raw sewage. I feel like I need a shower just watching this video and she's just chillin' like it's just another day!
Wait a minute, she said, "I didn't know it was that bad" are you kidding?
Great job done by all.
I thought I was the only one that thought of a match and gas.
I've done that 3 times - flooded and the sewage backup that goes with it - minus the hoard and roaches. That stank gets into your sinuses and stays there for hours after you shower. The worst flood we couldn't get back in to start cleaning up for over 2 weeks. Almost 6 feet of water for that long and there wasn't one thing left in the house that wasn't either covered with mold or sewage. Not one slab of drywall could be saved and the studs had to be sealed with latex. One issue people forget is that all the HVAC ductwork is going to be full of mold too. Assuming this is an insurance job, I hope cleaning the ducts is covered.
The first time I watched the show “hoarders” I instantly got scared and devoted my life to staying clean and having no junk.
i can't even imagine how heavy it must be mentally to live in a house where other people feel somewhat safe to enter only in protective clothing and respirators
This is so sad. Thank you for helping her. 💕
If I’m not mistaken, it looks like lots of Hummels in the cabinet! They’re probably old and definitely collector’s items; she can clean them and get good money from them!
Can ANYTHING in there be salvaged? How does an incident like that not condemn the building!?
Nope it's all contaminated
Depending on the type of roach, the eggs can survive for several weeks. So you run the risk of spreading the roach infestation by keeping anything there. It all has to go.
Would you even want to if you could???
@@yukiefromoz2573 oh, absolutely no!
I don't think anyone knew about it until her toilet became the issue. Don't Flush Wipes. Don't matter if it says Flushable, believe me, it's not!!
Said it before and I'll say it again. God bless and protect you Laura and crew! No one would take that job, but you did, and not only that, you do it better than anyone else. And Laura, you're right about roaches having no purpose in this world, I'd like to add mosquitoes to that list. Hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em! 😅
Omg 😭 that roach on laura!! 😱 yall are awesome for doing this 🫡
When something like this is in a condo/apartment, what do they do for the other tenants? I can't imagine being a neighbor having to smell that.

Hopefully, people like her stop being lazy, filthy, and destructive. @TaylorGeorge-mx9ot
I don't know what's worse.. someone living that way or dying that way. Horrible, but great job by Spaulding!
I miss all the crime scene cleaning videos 😢
thank you. we are working on continuing them. we are hiring folks as we speak.
Me too
The owner didn't know it was that bad? Hoarding is such a sad affliction. She needs additional help.
How in the world did the neighbors tolerate/ignore that for that long??! Absolutely not.
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
I feel like the roach on Laura was trying to escape the hoard!
Great work Spaulding Decon! I hope the homeowner got the help she needs and is in a much better living situation. People don't get to this point out of "laziness," it's an illness I pray can be treated.
Roaches exist as part of nature's clean up crew! They eat decaying material of all kinds, so believe it or not they do for the environment what Spaulding Decon does for houses! And that speaks volumes about the state of this hoard when even the huge amount of roaches can't keep up! If it makes anyone feel better roaches are also part of the food chain, lots of animals eat them right up!
Omg poor neighbors too, i would have to move away if i lived next to this condo because im sure everything is moving in to the other units.
Apocalypse roaches killed me 🤣🤣
I have cleaned out a hoarders home before.....after they passed......one of the most horrible things I have had to endure......due to knowing them. Having watched these videos for years........rarely am I phased by any of it........maybe ever so often. Well.........buckle up for this one......I do not know what is worse the mental headspin...anything from feeling for this poor lady and her mental status....her conditions.....the sewage....wow.......just wow!!! I pray there was a positive outcome and this lady was able to find resolve and peace in her life.....and safe finally.
Job well done thanks for helping somone get their lives better
I’m sorry the way bro is shoveling is getting to me ahah 😂
Nevermind the Zevo- get a flame thrower!!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
If I ever got to this point in life, I know I would hire someone to either help me or do it while I'm out of the house. In my head, I know this would be a bad situation for me and I know I shouldn't end up like this at any point in my life. (I grew up in many different house types with all kinds of situations from cleanest ever to the terrible hoarding) I don't like the idea of keeping things that can't be cleaned or used in another way, so I'd have every thing thrown out that would either take too long (more than 3 hours of my personal time) to clean or couldn't be cleaned at all.
I do love the work you guys do and would join a team of a similar or same job type to help others with many different things going on in their lives, my only issue is a physical disability that renders me incapable of doing most back bending jobs (doctor's orders).
Thank you guys so much for helping people in situations like this get to a better point in life. Even if that person couldn't get better mentally, it at least helped them to start a journey they can look back at and thank you guys for helping them.
When Laura says get a match n some gasoline, you know it’s pretty awful!
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
The giant roach on the shoulder made me scream 😅

Ladies and gentlemen this right here is a WORST CASE SCENARIO
I rather walk in my own sweat for hours during the outfit from head to toe than get in touch with any of this house on my hair or skin. no hella freaking way man

Thanks for the new video
PLEASE tell me an adult protective agency was made aware of this. This is not safe, healthy, or okay.
I've seen hoarding videos where I genuinely feel sorry for the person. They're clearly in distress and may even not want to live anymore and the mess accumulates. But this?? This made me gag! Just how????? The soggy carpets 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
your team is amazing. such special people to do this work.
Just curious in situations like this are eye coverings not required? I know that sometimes eye coverings can fog easily making it hard to work. love all your videos!
I'm watching this before dinner in hopes that it will help my diet by killing my appetite.
Great video guys
This broke my heart. You are all angels. I can’t imagine the smell.😢
Best wishes for the home owner ❤and her poor cats
The amount of sarcasm is hilarioud😂😂
Omg one of the ptchers had some sort of kibble. Some poor creature , proabbaly a cat was being forced to live in this in addition to the hoarder. I feel bad for the neighbors too.
Bet the cat ran off as soon as had the chance
They said there was cat poop all over the clothes on the ground. 🤮
21:12 Girl I feel the same way. That was my thought a minute into the video. I would burn it down!
I thought my friends' apartment was bad! She was also a hoarder, but none of the rooms or hallway could be used. Instead of the overflowed toilet, she saved her feces in plastic bags & put them in the fridge, while her urine went in gallon sized water jugs bc she couldn't get to the bathroom. There were piles floor to ceiling 1 in front of another. You couldn't even use a shovel bc it was stacked so high! The stuff would fall over once it began to shift! There were bugs, spiders, mold, items stuck to the carpeting, dishes with remnants of food just sitting everywhere. There were even live animals (not pets) living in there! It was So Disgusting! The smell was horrid! I cannot imagine how badly this condo smelt!! Ugh!!
Bless Laura & her team for all their hard work!
I dunno, I guess keeping poop in plastic bags in the fridge is slightly less toxic than having it all over the floor?
Your friend is very sick. I hope she gets the help that she needs.😢
That poor lady! I hope that she can find the resources to help her repair and rebuild.
4:43 that big ass roach tried to jump to his death! 😂
“It’s still living? Jesus!” 😂
do you have social housing in the states, doesn't look as though this lady can care for herself , thank goodness for you and your team Laura, you are incredible
I was thinking that too. She's a liability living in a condo if she's unable to take care of herself. I feel bad for the lady. How it was left to go on for so long without intervention for her health and wellbeing and thst of her poor cat that was living in that crap just blows my mind.
The lady just threw her piss filled depends on her bathroom sink? If I was that girl cleaning that up I might have to sue for PTSD trauma that is beyond horrific.
Those roaches are huge! I didnt know roaches could fly and bite. Those are clearly not Minnesota roaches.
Laura you are totally right. That place should be gutted. I feel sorry for her neighbors for having to deal with her ignorance. Very sad. As always you are there to get the job done. God bless you and your team for what you do❤.
Hopefully she gets the mental help she desperately needs, how are you doing?
And if she's the one who flushed those wipes, then she needs to take responsibility for the damage and clean up. None of this, "oh. Muh mental health!" Bullshit. @TaylorGeorge-mx9ot
It’s really sad how sick this person must be to live in these conditions and let there home get to this point
That entire unit needs to be gutted down to the studs. Theres nothing that can be done for that place
Thanks for the roach warning...
My husband & I own a condo. I'm surprised the condo association wasn't responsible for the cleanup of ALL condos that were effected. Since this woman's condo wasn't the only one that was effected by the backup. If the association wasn't liable, the poor woman probably didn't insure her condo. So sad! I'm totally surprised she didn't get sick! There's no possible way she lived there for 6 months! My God!
Roaches on the ceiling is just crazy
