Go back and listen to Current Will Carry Us and Prophets. This is such a different sound from back then. It's not that they haven't progressed, they just don't "sell out" per say.

My fiancé passed away 7/7/21, counterparts was his favorite band. After he passed away I got in his car, plugged his phone in and said pick a song and this came on. I never listened to the lyrics until that day. I literally felt like he was screaming these lyrics to me. I listen to this song probably once a week so I can feel close to him.

Counterparts has saved my life literally so many times. All the times I was broken, alone, and fighting for my life, when nobody was there for me, not even myself, their art was. I will forever owe my life to these guys. They don’t even know the impact they’ve made on so many broken souls.

I think the key to Counteparts sound is letting each instrument breathe, you can hear everything, it’s not a wall of sound, it’s nuances of each instrument, it’s ups and downs, it’s a ride through the song.
That couldn’t be more true. I really think that Brendan’s vocals tie the whole thing together perfectly while still giving each instrument room to breathe
IDEALESS YNYA was powerful and an incredible record all around but lyrically it seemed to be lacking that “overly emotional” tone compared to earlier releases. The emotion really seems stronger with this record already.
How is it possible to only get better and better like Counterparts has done over the years? Every once in awhile I see a negative comment about them or other people metaphorically copying and pasting others' opinions that they haven't "progressed." That is idiocy of the highest caliber. Counterparts from Prophets (or even TDBHAH) to now has progressed so much and I usually HATE change in bands, as they almost always sell out and change their sound to something else for radio play and publicity... But Counterparts has changed and stayed true to their roots. I hope they never listen to the negatives. Those comments are from people completely undeserving of hearing their music in the first place.

This band falls under the category of, “can do no wrong.” Every album they’ve released has been an absolute banger. Saw them in April 2018 with Emmure, one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. Bought You’re Not You Anymore on vinyl as well. Love this band more than words can say.

Counterparts have always been a great band. They were bringing 'bringing heavy back' before most of the groups that people claim are 'leading the resurgence' were even formed. Their catalog is filled is hits, and here they are, in 2019, adding more classics.

These singles are shaping to be the most well rounded counterparts songs, with little musical discrepancies sprinkled in that are only known throughout their discography and it’s executed so well. I’m glad they had like every member ever writing on this record. Can’t wait to hear these songs live
