    I want to hear your craziest Uber Pool stories. If I get enough comments I'll make a video about the best ones!

      I’m not that poor to choose Uber pool, so unfortunately no stories. My apologies to the others that do share stories, ya bums!!!

      probs the time the drunk marines in my backseat were trying to mac on the mcdonalds worker lady. or the many people who claim they didnt choose pool in the app when i tell them we gotta pick someone up. a redeeming humanity tale is the worried jamaican lady who was afraid she would be late for church, and the 2nd passenger was married to a jamaican guy and they chatted about food and she calmed down.

    I had two drunk guys at 2 am in a shared ride. One threw up and one was a chatterbox. They did not get along. Also had a prostitute and an Asian woman that was a software engineer at a military base. The look on the Asian girl’s face when she opened the door and saw the prostitute was priceless!
    In LA, rentals are destroying the rates. I have my own car and would never take a 40 mile ride for only $28… but these rides are immediately taken by the flood of rental drivers we have now. I did Express Drive for four months, and will not do that again.

    Not a driver, but I remember a business called Super Shuttle, and you had to go from place to place picking up other riders. I had to grab one from the airport home, they shoved me in with six other people, all going to different destinations, guess who was last. Anywho there were only two of us left, this other lady had never been where she was going, and apparently the driver hadn't either, after 45 minutes, I finally said that's it, I know where I live and I want you to take me home now. Of course the lady was upset, but at that point I didn't care and needless to say I never did that again,lol. I agree with you Eddie, it's a 💩service! Thanks for the memories.

      I drove for SUper Shuttle in L.A. for a whole 2 WEEKS!! They treated drivers like crap. Tips non existent.
      I also think UBER SHARE or POOL is stupid.

      GeosRealTalk,
      I always tipped well because I had worked in the service industry, and it definitely ain't the paycheck,lol. I even tipped that guy $10.00 and that was in the late 80's.

    • @GeosRealTalk
      @GeosRealTalk 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bkm2797 you were exception for sure. Super Shuttle had 12 hour shifts that easily would turn into 14-15 hours making sure that the van's gas tank was full, then waiting for a manager to inspect for damage, and finally getting in line to collect a daily cash for any gas you had put into the van during your 12 hours IF you saved your receipts. Then drive home. It was brutally hard. The vans were always dirty and stinky. They had a CB type radio (pre-internet when I drove), and they had a crazy dumb way of assigning routes or rather regions to drivers.

    • @bkm2797
      @bkm2797 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      GeosRealTal,
      Have to say I never blamed the driver, except a wee bit in the situation I described because I begged him to please contact the company to get help, or at the bare minimum stop at a service station and ask for directions, needless to say he ignored my recommendations,lol. For a ride that shouldn't have taken more than 25 minutes at best, 2 hours was too much.

    DFW-TX....the Dart System schedules uber rides for some of their mass transit riders (cough cough, welfare) and those rides typically have a ping added involuntarily 1/2 way through the trip, "Co-rider has been added"...only a couple of riders were surprised and the rest knew why the rider was added. Sorry but if I don't think I am getting a tip I just pile them in and enjoy the contact high from all their bad habits

    you mention uber doesn't pay enough, and the rental program. If you're renting a tesla for a long term it's pretty dumb, and when I say this, I'm talking to a majority of drivers. I'm not sure what the rental price is weekly, I think it's $400+ so that's 1,600 a month yet uber doesn't pay enough. Also you're unable to do lyft under this also. I just bought a 2024 model y, each month on a rental you're paying more than my model y, my civic and both car insurances on both cars. The rental program is cool if it's 1 week or 2 but to do it month to month it's not smart IMO.

    I got lucky that I don’t think Alaska ever had Uber pool available. As far as I know anyway, but I’ve seen some clips of people losing their shi# cuz they got picked up and were dropped off after a couple other people got picked up and dropped off before them.

    So glad you’re trying out the rental program! I’ve been on the program with Avis for 2 months already, a bit different from Hertz, but it’s really worth it in the long run! I would love to have a more in depth conversation with you to share my experiences and stuff I’ve learned so far with this new way to Uber.

    Uber X Share. People pick it accidently because sometimes it shows as the first option, and the "Share" part is usually truncated and it looks like Uber X S... so you can only tell because it has a little "1 person" icon. I take them since I usually do short rides, and the chance of a second ride popping up during the 5 minute ride is pretty slim.

    It's back in my market. It's not 50% cheaper, it's a $2-6 dollar discount at most. And the wait time is only 2 minutes before a driver can cancel and collect that fee.
    And you can cancel or decline added riders if it's an inconvenience.

  • @Rational_Driver
    @Rational_Driver 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It's such a dumb and unsafe type of ride. That's why I always set app to "offline" after the first pickup and prevent additional pickups. So glad Lyft stopped this service.

    Only rookie drivers take Pool. Or maybe if you need the ride to complete a consecutive promo. I took it two or three times back in 2016-17 when they first brought it to Philly/Jersey. Okay, so I'm in Jersey and already had one passenger. I picked up a second guy who was going to PHL. Now, remember, no one really knew what the deal was with Pool yet. He chose it because it had the fastest pickup time, and he was running late for his flight already. He got in and immediately asked if the other passenger was a friend or if we knew each other. I said no and tried to explain Pool rides to him. Now, this was before I knew all my tricks and ways of manipulating the system, so as I received additional pings for additional riders, I didn't know I could just ignore them until they canceled. So I get another ping for rider number three, and he was freaking out. Rider number three gets in, and we then figure out everyone is going into Pa. Riders one and three are both heading into Center City. That's when he asks me to drop him off first at PHL. I explained to him that the system determines the order in which passengers get dropped off. Now, mind you, he is speaking to me in a loud and anxious voice so the other two can hear everything.
    Now he realizes he f**ked up taking pool, and in a move of desperation, he says, "I'll give you $300 cash to take me there right now and drop them off afterward." I would have loved to take the cash, but instead, I looked at him through the rearview mirror and told him he had two options: 1. Go with the flow and wait his turn, or 2. I can drop him off beforehand along the way, and he can reorder another ride without pool. He chose #2, so I dropped him off and ended his ride early. He was an affluent businessman who wasn't used to not getting his way. Just imagine a driver ignoring the other two passengers and basically kidnapping them for a ride to PHL instead of their destination.

    Years ago my sister was a dispatcher for a taxi company in a small city (roughly 30K people) and they would do this without even telling the customers. I used to think that I'd be pretty PO'd if my cab started picking people up enroute to my destination, but it seems they got few complaints. I worked as a mechanic for the same taxi company a little after my sister started. Some interesting people drive taxi. Some are interesting in a cool or fascinating way and some are interesting in a not so cool way
