      From personal experience….. it is very easy to wear a “happy mask” when you are struggling / suffering on the inside.
      It makes life much easier to cope with.. Most people don’t want to be around the person without them having their happy mask on.

    The fact that the state prosecutor gave these two plea deals without getting any additional information about other possible victims in return reeks of a cover up. Plus just the fact that a plea deal was still on the table after they had booby trapped the property and destroyed evidence is highly suspicious.

      I'm not so sure that it's definitely a coverup. It very well could be. But it could be that the prosecution wanted a definite guilty conviction. I've seen many cases where the prosecutor was lazy and didn't want to do the extra footwork to go for the more severe charge and instead offered a less severe charge in exchange for a guilty plea. I think it's probably moreso that than the coverup. There was likely huge public outrage and they just wanted to put it to bed as quick as possible.

    • @ZombieSazza
      @ZombieSazza ปีที่แล้ว +52

      100%, it clearly implies Tim is the submissive one and James is the dominant one in this relationship, where James knows Tim will help no matter what and is expected to help, likely a pattern of behaviour that’s been carried out god only knows how many times. Examples of these kinds of codependent relationships where couples kill (not necessarily romantically involved, the relationship can be platonic but incredibly close like brothers) are Karla Homolka & Paul Bernado, Fred and Rose West, or even Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. They have a modus operandi, expected roles, rehearsed plans, should something go wrong back up plans and the part each person has to play.
      Tim and James’ relationship really makes me think of dom/sub killers, and Tim was more than comfortable with his role in their relationship.
      Would not wanna be searching the woods around their home, I’ve no doubt there’s things to be found out that way.

      I'm from that area;
      There really isn't much of a technological presence around there. A great many people don't even use social media, and if they do it's facebook to share poorly put together religious memes.
      😅 If someone gets security cameras, they usually get destroyed hillbilly-style. It's a secluded area where many things stay in the shadows. Having grown up in Lebanon, I can confidently say there's plenty of sus behavior that gets swept under the rug. Small town, cops know everyone; was raised with everyone. Lots of looking the other direction and covering things up.

      @@Phoenix-tq8lt Snuff films for financial gain are a myth. There have been zero cases where a crime was filmed for the purpose of the video being sold. All those videos on the web and social media? Those aren't snuff films. Recording a crime and then posting it somewhere doesn't make the video a snuff film. A snuff film is made to be bought.
      And rich people don't buy snuff films lol. It's so easy for people to say "oh rich people do this and that" because the rich live in a completely different reality, but this whole "rich people are all cult like and they do weird shit like buy snuff films and sacrifice babies and drink adrenochrome" is all urban myth bullshit

      The missing persons levels don't even really seem that high, at least not here in Taney County, there are the occasional murders but backwoods snuff farms are an entirely different terrifying thing. I like to think that a lot of human fears of such things is our tendency towards sensational stories but sometimes, rarely such things to pop up. It's true, we don't know the extent, and like any good ghost story it's the not knowing that give folks the creeps in a special kind of way. I have travelled the country homeless for years and have had some creepy encounters with strange people, I feel ya.
      There was one time in Springfield during the winter it was cold as shit and some random dude said he was moving and let me stay in his guest room, I got the address and told him I'd think about it, I eventually went to the house and it was one house with two front doors, the entire house was messed up like he was moving or doing construction or something and the guest room had no lights and that was the room with one of the front doors but it was boarded up and there was a hallway between that and the front room with the only exit. BUT in that hall way there was a spotless bathroom (only place in the house that was spotless) with a perfectly clean butcher knife by the sink (it was the only thing in the bathroom). 😂 I got a REAL BAD vibe and told him I changed my mind. I still get chills thinking about how that whole set up felt. It was off of Kearney in north Springfield. Better safe than sorry

Some bad situations happened, but I am so grateful now looking back thinking of how many times something could of went wrong and no one would ever be able to find my body or even come looking for me so I'd just be a Jane doe. I bet you have had some similar situations yourself. It's really dangerous. Even just sleeping on the sidewalk with people passing you, some will randomly kick you , pour something on you, touch you, and of course try to rob you.
      I wish you all the best whatever you're going through. I finally got my life together and have been in recovery four years now. Mike, I live in this area and for a while they thought that James and Tim could have been involved in the “SPRINGFIELD THREE” disappearance. If you look at the footage of the property, there is a green old van that matched the description of the van in the three women’s disappearance. I don’t think anything ever came from it though. Especially if they were cannibalized. Interesting theory none the less though.

      Angela Hammond disappeared in 91 in clinton, MO. The abductor had a "70s ford pickup truck".
      Phelps and Norton lived near lebanon, about a 2 hour drive, since the early 90s.
      They have an old ford pickup truck. Looks like early 80s. Not a bad match. Possibly, it's a little older if the grilles and hoods are compatible between years. I don't know enough about those old fords to tell you that.
      Partial color mismatch but I can see that the thing has been badly repainted at least once. So much algae on it that I can't tell for sure if there's any green paint on it.

    That part about them trolling for victims at Walmart is a bit scary. A few months ago here in Ohio, we had a scare of guys in vans cruising parking lots late at night slowly driving close lone women and being all creepy. Bastards followed my wife and I one night and were pretty obvious about following us, especially when we turned into a gas station and they swerved toward us nearly sideswiping us. We weren't TOO worried since we were armed and had driven to a well-lit populated area, but it was a scary experience.

      It happens where I live, a bunch of people in a car slowly driving around doing uturns, parked illegally on sides of houses where you can't see
      Maybe I got a heart of steel but I usually get my bat or walk towards them with my body cam (this is due to having my ex and her friends stalk and harass me for years and it's not them they've been dealt with legally) and they drive off
      My friend once was walking her dog and a creepy old lady and man kept circling around her and she called the cops they left

    I just don’t understand why these men were allowed to plea when they clearly lied about their interactions with Cassidy (kidnapping, keeping her in a cage, torturing her) and tried to kill investigators while destroying evidence with the booby traps. How in the world did they not go to trial and face death? I can only think that Cassidy’s family didn’t want to go through a trial with such horrific evidence being aired publicly, so they agreed to a life sentence deal for these freaks. The sad and frightening truth is that every once in awhile the depraved activities and predilections of these sick people are exposed because they do exist and are into the most extreme depraved activities that evil, sick people can want to do. That’s why there is a dark web and anonymous tipsters search it; they are all SICK! I love you, Mike, but every once in awhile you do a story that makes me physically queasy. I don’t know how you can wade through such dark, grisly content. Take care of your mind and heart. 😔😢

      The death penalty is almost never given in Missouri anymore. Aka, they would have most likely gotten a similar punishment (life w/o parole) plea deal or not. No Missouri jury has given a death penalty verdict in literally over a decade at this point. Also, many honestly consider life in prison without parole the significantly worse punishment anyways. Death by lethal injection especially is the easy coward's way out.

    I've been hoping you would cover this case, Mike. I've seen news stories here and there about it, and it blew my mind. Thanks for telling Cassidy's story in your own brilliant way , sarcastic about the perpetrators, but caring and respectful towards the victims as always. It's no wonder how you've became one of the top names when it comes to true crime! Keep up the great content!! 💛
