    I love my fantom so much. I've had it for 1 year. I've learned so much about music in my 25+ year career, but this instrument has taught me more last year than any. Love your videos buddy!

    Thanks for sharing nice video,I’m trying to choose between the Roland Fantom 8 and Yamaha Montage 8 I wonder is it easier to loop sounds on the Fantom or Montage and I wonder which one has the best piano samples.

    What is a good Windows PC I can buy to run the Ableton Live with the Fantom 8 is not real high priced? Maybe desktop would be cheaper and more expandable then laptop. You can have a large monitor aswell. I have a new Fantom 8 coming.

    Hello engineers and creators of Roland Fantom.
    Please make in the new update the function of assigning parameters to knobs in the menu "quick editing E1 - E6".
    Thanks!
    For example Cutoff / Resonance.
    And of course, all the forums are littered with criticism of an insufficiently developed arpeggiator.

    Could you explain how you show the Ableton live clips and.mixer on iPad ??❣️

  •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Legend, nice video Thank you so much first. i can see you only used midi tracks, yes it works perfect. But please share an example with audio&midi mixed , i couldnt record good quality audio with fantom, ableton gives red signal when you try to record audio. Last question when you select audio device as Fantom in ableton, how you could record all your session ? Which gear used for recording all this session & how did you connect. Please explain details 🙌🙌🙌🎹🎹🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    • @gattobus
      @gattobus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used just one USB cable. As I said in the description I used the "external instrument" device so I'm sending both audio and midi on each track. Fantom is capable of sending each part separately with extreme quality and very low latency, thanks to its internal RME A/D converters.
      All this session's been recorded in real time while I was shooting this video.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gattobus could you give little detail about ‘External instrument’ have you mentioned in description. What is the external instrument and how did you connect for recording all this sessions. Sorry for detail questions but i need to understand really :) I can do all the things you did, but at recording stage i am confused, i want to get good quality recording using Fantom&Ableton together.

    • @gattobus
      @gattobus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @ external instrument let you create a track with both midi and audio. You should refer to Ableton Live online manual for that 😉 Cheers!

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gattobus ok now i got it. You mean in ableton external instrument 😀😊 i thought physically recording equipment before :) it would be nice make how to video about ableton&fantom settings , but i will try to drill ableton :) Thank you for the patience for my basic questions.

    Does the Roland Fantom have an option to sidechain kick to other instruments internally?

  • @Mat-q5z

    Men, you absolutley got me with your lead melodies on Track 2. I am new to music and learning things step by step on my epiano. I followed your keys on the piano and the resulting melodie is just wonderful. I want to dig deeper in melody creation and creating scenarios and compositions. Which recommendation can you give me…where to dig deeper to get into melody-land? It can‘t just be running down other peoples note sheets, right? Is there a kind of an earcandy-theory (maybe learning the circle of 5ths by heart - kidding) where I should look at ….or is it just doing and a matter of years of experience from failing and succeeding? :) A brief reply would be very much appreciated! All the best & be blessed🍀

    • @gattobus
      @gattobus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Start by arpeggiating on the chord notes and then continue exploring new patterns and notes by following your ear! That could be a start. Ear training is very important, try to learn harmony from the songs you like. Of course some basic musical theory is also necessary...

      @@gattobus :)…haha…where‘s the camera? …..I just continued making variations for half an hour or so….and all of a sudden Richard Marx‘ „right here“…melody also popped up in that neighbourhood…hehe….thank you for your direct answer, Gattobus! I will put that into my training…I want to get there, where I for example can transform allday scenes like the bicycle trip to work into a melody..composition…reflecting the emotions, views, movement, smells and various noises and colors dueing that 15 minutes…..thats „end level“ then :) (something like „moldau“ or the „four seasons“ just ahm….after I got over this learning courve :) Thank you Gattobus, you are not offering commercial courses, are you?

    Hi gattobus, amazing performance. I understand you are using Ableton's external instrument and controlling the hardware version of the model expansions.
    However, is it currently possible for the Fantom to directly control the VST versions of Zenology and the model expansions on each Ableton track, so that the settings stay with the saved Ableton project, instead of having to save separately on the Fantom.
    Thanks

    Is the new Fantom 8 worth it over something like a used G8? Ableton integration is a very important thing for me and so are fully weighted keys. I'm currently using an Akai MPK61 . Someone is selling a G8 locally for 1100 and a new Fantom 8 is 4k. Is it THAT much better?

  • @thxrush

    Hey, on the lead solo at the end, were you playing a Fantom tone? I noticed that you were using the DAW sends while playing live. Do you use the Fantom as an interface or are you using a different output. The reason I ask is because I get a doubling of the sound of I use the Fantom as an interface and use Ableton native effects. Any guidance would be awesome dude.

      @ablesam 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Menex man, it's been a while. I thought you sold your FANTOM? Anyway, the only thing I found out you can currently do about your problem is to switch off the input monitor on your FANTOM audio tracks in the DAW while recording FANTOM. Then afterwards apply your effects to the recorded audio. Btw, do you have an external audio interface?

    • @SunlightOfTheSpirit
      @SunlightOfTheSpirit 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ablesam hey, I sold it but the postage was too expensive so it fell through. I didn’t play for two months. Couldn’t look at it without getting annoyed. Someone posted a solution on the Fantom Facebook page for this which made me try it and it solved this issue. I spent the last four days, locked away dissecting the scenes that producers made and starting to find a new workflow. I’ve also noticed how cohesive the audio I record into Ableton sounds and it requires little EQ. Now at a stage where I don’t want to get defeated by my lack of knowledge and the shortcomings. Everyday is a school day on the Fantom,
