8 Strand Gaucho Braid

I have braided a set of reins with the 8 strand gaucho braid.

What do you do with the core end sticking out at the top

How do you braid the loops in?

does zig-zag single color patern goes str8 over complete lenght or it moves a bit like into spiral, like a drill bit ? When finished is there a chance to pull out center cord so braid gets little extended?

I think it tends to spiral just a bit, but I haven’t really paid attention. I kept the center cord in to make sure it remains round.
