    The best thing to do is sit the entire assembly on a roller dolly ,a friend of mine modified a old floor creeper to get the job done..

    Hey man love the vid! I’m looking into putting a Ls in my 3.4 f body and this vid helped me out on a few things, could you maybe upload one about the engine wiring? And what harness was used. Thanks!

    Great video series! Thanks for posting! Was wondering though, do you have the part# and/or the brand of V8 K member you're using? I have a '02 Catfish Camaro that I want to do a swap for, but don't want to spend over $500 for the "performance" ones I see on eBay. Thanks in advance for any information you or anyone has!!

    What did you do for the harness with the 5.3 to make it work from the v6 to the v8 truck harness

      I actually bought a 2001 ls1 t56 harness out of a trans am it’s pretty much plug and play I explain most of it in the video where I try getting it running! Thanks for the comment!

    How much research, If any did you do before the swap? I'm asking because i am doing this swap and have run into a couple issues. I am hoping you can help. I have a 4th gen firebird that was originally a V6 car. I have installed an LM4 5.3 in it. I am using the factory V6 k-member with Hooker 71221001HKR. The documentation reads "fully compatible with Hooker 4th-gen mid-length headers and dual exhaust system recently developed for this vehicle platform (requires installation of LS1 steering rack)". I am also using LS1 motor mounts and factory 2004 Trailblazer exhaust manifolds. First problem i am having is it appears that the steering gear will hit the exhaust manifold. The second issue is. I am using the (knockoff) alternator relocation bracket and it appears the power steering plumbing is in the way. Do you have any insight?

    • @rocnrollgarage
      @rocnrollgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly could be the placement of the steering rack because your running the v6 k member, and from what I looked up is that I think there is 2-3 different steering racks for these cars you can not run a v6 rack if your running the LS, if you haven’t swapped the rack your best bet is to do that and get it from a z28 or an ss, the steering rack and the steering shaft “part from the steering column to the rack” both need to be changed

      @@rocnrollgarage thank you! I appreciate you replying.
      I'm also thinking about maybe coping the exhaust manifold right there and welding in a piece inverted.

      I am doing an LM4 (aluminum version) of the LM7 in 99 V6. Motor is mounted to the V6 k-member with Hooker brackets supposedly designed for the application but i'm having issues with the steering gear and alternator.

      @rocnrollgarage thank you very much for your information and responding. This stuff is really confusing but I think I got a good base idea, I'll probably stay away from the 4th gen motors as I want as less electricity involved.. The only ones around are v6s, there is a 98 poniac fbody with an ls1 already in it but it has really high km.
