The column has gone matt due to the temperature you painted it in (its called blooming and is common with cellulose acrylic's). Even if you used a heat gun the cold steel will just suck the temp out of the paint and draw in condensation at the same time. Best thing to do is put the column on a radiator in the house before you paint it so the steel is warm. Also keep the paint tin indoors so its at room temp. Those Halfords satin blacks are fine so long as the temps are correct.
Next time, you have to strip the parts. Try the paint striper first, then then wire brush with drill. The small holes I would fibre glass. As if you try welding the holes, the metal could be very thin. So you mite end up cutting big pieces out of the doors. Like the new mugs and garage banners.
Cracking work on the doors etc pal ! 👍🏻 yea the mat finish is due to the weather unfortunately, warming the can in hot water and using cas hairdryer would have sorted it out but looks great anyway and you don’t really see it anyway so don’t worry about it , the new merch looks epic hopefully after Xmas I will have to order a garage banner they are amazing mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Alright mate... As other comments the paint on the column has bloomed, due to the cold and damp conditions, this can also occur in primer although its not noticeable due to the matt finish. You can try some rubbing compound on the column, that should take the cloudiness away if its just on the surface 👍
Seems like you have a focus P fault on the VCT pulley, it's probably advanced when you tightened it up, just slacken it off and redo..I doubt its electrical, it all happened.when you redid the cams, like you say if you hit the VCT it reads, but not correctly, it's very unusual for them to stop working...all the best..
I think a possible reason the steering column came out a bit dull is due to the cold damp weather we've had, it can really affect the result. Not sure where it was stored when drying?
It was painted in the cold and only moved inside after the paint was dry. I did exactly the same with the other parts tho and the finish got a bit better after a day or 2 in the warm. 👍
Hi matt why not give the steering columb another coat inside in the warm with the same paint,it was raining and to cold in the outhouse and maybe the primer wasnt dry enough, the weather for you spraying isnt good, good luck keep up the good work, you need maude back on the road before kat bans you from the st lol
Hi Marcus. Have you tried Nylon paint removal discs or wire. These take the paint off only, on a metal surface with no damage or heat on your bodywork.
I just noticed Marcus doesn't say "Hello and welcome to this episode", ..but every time he works on the escorts it's a "whole episode" 😂😂 Keep plugging away mate. Side note: You say you struggle with mental issues, but these cars would have drove me fully doolally years ago🤣 You're stronger than you think m8 lol
"183" doesn't make sense for a reading if you multimeter was in DIODE mode in the test you did. You should get something between 0.3 and 0.8 (depending on diode type)......and open circuit in the other direction. Maybe you multimeter has some wierd approximation of a proper DIODE test mode.
My multimeter is a cheapo thing so maybe??? But I THINK iv now confirmed that the diode is working because there was no reading when I swapped the leads around. 🤔
A bit of everything mate. Classic house and garage, trance, funky house, 80s dance stuff, rave, I like drum and bass and jungle but I don’t have many records. 👍
when you cut to your new merch , i thought you had done a duvet cover , ha ha ha
Great update as always but please get the doors welded Don’t bodge it !! 😃👍

Mr Hayes Technics turntables are not designed for storing car parts on. Loving the old school technics hifi, I had one & the neighbours loved it.😂
Thank you Marcus unfortunately your winter is moving in you can only do the best you can. Cheers
I can’t control the weather but I’ll keep doing whatever I can mate! 💪
Hi Marcus have you tried using paint stripper
I’m not a fan of the stuff to be honest but I have used it before. 👍
Yeah I’ve only used it on the cam cover but the paint just fell off fair play 👌and by the way merry Xmas to you both 🎉👍
Yes mate been waiting for this been needing a mh vid after today 😩💯👌
Sorry to hear you had a bad day mate. 2morrow is a new day tho, be lucky! 👍

Thanks for the advice mate! 👍 I’ll defo be fibreglassing those holes, they’re so small. I’m very happy with how the new merch became out. 👍
@@marcushayesford I agree, fibreglass is the way to go, better than welding as you don’t get heat distortion & it won't rust 😂
Just ordered black maude banner to go in my garage! Gonna look sweet to go with my bland hoodie! Buzzing
Thanks for your order mate! 👍👍👍
Looking good and lots of progress lately keep at it mate
The Matt finish on the steering column is called blooming
Try warming the item up and keep it warm during the drying process it shouldn’t happen then
Thanks for the advice mate! 👍
Love the content on heidi
Thanks for watching mate! 👍
Ya welcome mate

Yes I did use Cats hair dryer on the other bits so maybe that’s why they came out better?? 🤔
Great channel Marcus 👍
Thanks mate! 👍
@@marcushayesford and no Heli Coils this evening 😂😂😂😂😂

Give the steering column a very light polish with T-Cut , It will give you a closer look for what you are looking for.
The column finish will be due to the damp and cold when you sprayed it, Halfords paint is alright in the right conditions.

Or he could just buy some lacquer
Yes the weather isn’t ideal for painting at all. Cat is defo ghetto g fed up of me keep nicking the Focus! 😀

Put the lids on them 1210s brother 😉
They probably got broke ages ago
I only have one unfortunately. They need a service anyway to be honest. 👍
@@marcushayesford yeah man top stuff 👌
@fredjames9867 I shouldn't say much really I sold mine to move with the times a few year back lol
@@marcushayesford you can buy aftermarket lids now days for the 1210's. You will have to play a few jungle bits for us one day!
Spray over steering rack with clear lacquer then that will give it a semi gloss shine use halfords paint the same and wont have problems
That’s a great idea but I think I’ll just live with the Matt finish seeing as it’s only a steering column. 👍
Looking forward to seeing heidi when she's finished, whats going on with maude
