Love it man! Dude been out 4 times havent got one duck. Got the boat got the dekes I never seem too get anything getting depressing. Everyone else I see my area are killing it !
if people around you are killing birds and youre not having luck, i have 3 tips for you that i think will make a huge difference in your hunting success. I want to start off saying that i dont claim to be the best duck hunter to ever live, just trying to help you. first thing, youve probably heard it before. scout. you gotta get out there and find birds using whatever you are trying to hunt. You can traffic birds that are flying over the area but the success rate always goes down and the next 2 tips are even more important if you are trafficking birds. The next thing is if youre hunting water, come up with a way to get some motion on the water. wearier birds are going to shy away from decoys that are sitting still on those calm condition days. the number 1 most important thing though is your hide. I still make this mistake from time to time, and every time, it bites me in the ass. Make sure you are hidden well. Keep in mind that those birds have a top down view on your postion and in the case of your boat, try to match the cover you are in. I have personally watched ducks flare off of boats so many times on public land because they stick out. If you think youre hidden, try to hide some more. Im saying all of these things out of personal experience and am in no way claiming to be a better hunter than you or anyone else. Ive made these mistakes countless times, and wish i would have done differently when its all said and done. seasons just getting started so get out there and enjoy the hunt, birds are only secondary to the experience. What shells are you running thru your smx12? I’m shooting winchester x-perts and having issues feeding them..
Had the exact same hit on a doe last year. It went about 200yds. It seems that low exit likes to get plugged.
