I'm SO the antisocial teacher petting the dog all night. As Kristoff says, reindeer are better than people. And if you don't have a reindeer like Sven, then a puppy is the best. 😁
As someone that subs to pay their way through grad school a special heartfelt thank you to secretaries and admin assistants that never seem to stop working. I couldn't do it without you.
@@fluffyunicorn57 As I have very different job then most regular teachers I’ll leave admin leadership to them. I was mostly referencing the video about school secretaries which are also called admin assistants/support at the schools I work with depending on location. Most of the people I’ve come into contact with in these roles are very good at their jobs and could probably a lot more with less stress in a regular office but they genuinely care about the kids. There are certainly exceptions I’ve had to deal with a few but that’s every job/role I also acknowledge that some schools just less resources to work with and they often end up having to pick the slack much as teachers do. Overwork can make even the best people burnout.
The Home Ec teacher judging the homemade goodies. The Foreign Language teacher who spends the party speaking in their classroom language. The Woodshop teacher explaining how the wood furnishings are put together. The Art Teacher who designs name tags for all the party guests.
@@madalinerose1188 IMO homework is extra practice on skills taught in class. If someone helps the child complete it and then I grade it I'm not assessing the child's mastery of the concept. A test taken independently by the student is a more accurate assessment of the child's mastery of the concept. Is homework helpful? Of course! But IMO folks need to have a realistic perspective on its purpose. Now do I insist my students complete it? Yes, because they need the extra practice. If I have a nonchalant attitude about their homework completion then some are more inclined not to complete it although they need the extra practice. Hope that makes sense.

The most memorable staff Christmas night out ended up with the Y2 teacher (who was a lovely nun aged 60) being severely drunk. The new headteacher drove her home and she threw up in his car.

When I was in 7th grade (1981-82) I learned all my teachers favorite hangover cures so that I could properly suck up to "earn" an A. It's shocking now, but yes, a 12 year old was able to buy cigarettes and coffee at 7-11 back then. I think my 1st period math teacher was recently divorced as he needed a can of diet Pepsi and Extra Strength Excedrin more mornings than not.
I would definitely be the teacher in the corner with the dog, except can I substitute the three year old colleague’s child for the dog? I prefer children over adults 99.999% of the time. 🤣
My husband is totally the IT guy that has to give people the bad news that he has no idea how to set up their cable remote or fix their sound system at nearly every party we ever go to! 🤣 IT is not the same as doing home entertainment installs!!
I’m a custodian that went to one of those things, and I was treated like a black man in a white restaurant in 1949 Mobile, Alabama. I never went to one again.
I taught for 13 years and most I taught with wanted to get out of the profession...but hung around for the retirement...which ironically is going to fail at some point in the not to distant future.

Never had a Christmas party. Had Secret Santa though. I think my gift/joke/pranks pissed the guy off. I gave the guy a nice Swiss Army knife as the final gift and he didn’t even say thank you. I didn’t associate with teachers unless necessary unless they were the few I was friends with.
Lol, great video, and this translates to many other office/coworker holiday gatherings as well. I think the pandemic teacher should have been attending the party via Zoom or MS Teams. 😜 I've worked remote for my company for many years. They always get the video calls going for in-office team celebrations where I can't partake of any of the snacks/food, which is the only reason to attend anyway. 😏
