Closest I’ve come to this was singing at a karaoke place for the very first time. A couple got up and started dancing, then a few other couples joined them on the little dance floor. I was singing Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why”. Made me feel like a million bucks, watching total strangers enjoying themselves while I sang.
She sang Queen’s “I Want to Break Free” at the Tribute Concert for Freddie in 1992. She was amazing.. the look on Brian’s face while watching her is priceless! Thanks for posting this - she’s so talented!

I know we have produced some great female singers here in Britain but to me Lisa is the ultimate best! She should have been far more accoladed than she was, shes never in Brit female singers lists & thats criminal! I hope she gained the recognition & success elsewhere coz she really deserves it. It featured artists covering Cole Porter numbers. Songs from the musicals of the 30s 40s and 50s. Artists featured sinead O'connor, Lisa Stanstead, nenah cherry. David byrne from the talking heads. Debbie Harry and iggy pop and many more absolutely fabulous stuff that really should be heard.

I'm a blues guy, but I once caught Phoebe Snow with Seals and Crofts, one of the best shows I've ever seen. At an old horse racing track in Illinois, like I said it was fantastic. This was great.

I have so much love and respect for Lisa Stansfield, she has put in the work, she's been singing since a youngster, at about the age of 12-13 she hosted a TV programme for kids here in the UK called 'Junior Showtime', later on in her teens she had her own band, and then later on worked with other groups such as 'Coldcut', check out 'People Hold On' where she does lead vocals.

Lisa comes from a place called Rochdale in Lancashire, England. It is right up in the hills, surrounded by sheep and moorlands. It just goes to show that there's great talent tucked away all over, it's just a pity we can't find more of it
