He looks just like Barry. His life ended far too early. I'd like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Gibb for having and sharing their four, extremely talented sons with the world. The world wouldn't be the same if we hadn't had them all to enjoy. Thanks for reacting to Andy, Jamel. I've only seen one video (I'm not saying there aren't more) of him on stage singing with Barry, Maurice and Robin. I'm glad he is still being remembered. Take care and be well. Peace.

YAY! Woo-Hoo, a TH-camr reacting to Andy Gibb... finally! Oh my gosh, after months of watching countless Bee Gee reaction videos from numerous different channels & requesting someone to please check out the "baby Bee Gee", Jamel comes through once again - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! It's no wonder why you're my favorite TH-cam channel (& Mr. Video's too). Andy was such a talented musician in his own right. So sad that he passed away just a few days after his 30th b-day from a heart condition which was exacerbated by alcohol & drug abuse.
I still remember the day when my cousin bought this album (I was 10 yrs old). She played it over & over again until I memorized the lyrics. I'm 54 now and still can sing every word... in my sleep - LOL! This song & Shadow Dancing were my top favorites from Andy.
Even though Andy was 12 years younger than Barry (the oldest), they could have been twins. They share very similar facial features & vocal sound. Barry & Andy look more like twins than the actual fraternal twins, Robin & Maurice.

BeeGees consist of the three older brothers:
    Barry, born in 1946
    and fraternal twins
Maurice and Robin, born in 1949
Andy was born in 1958, so he was an infant, and possibly not even born yet when BeeGees was formed in 1958, and was around 10 years old when his older brothers started to hit it big in the '60s.
Sadly, he was the first to pass, in 1988 at age 30. Cause of death is listed as myocarditis, attributed to cocaine abuse earlier in his life which weakened his heart.
Maurice passed in 2003, due to complications of a twisted intestine. His twin brother Robin followed in 2012, due to kidney failure.
While the brothers Gibb also have a sister, of the four performing brothers, only the oldest, Barry, is currently still alive.

The guitar played on the album was none other than the amazing Joe Walsh. He had finished a little known album with the Eagles called "Hotel California" at the same studio. Andy asked if he would play on the album and of course being the awesome man he is he said sure! Thanks for doing this song..love it!!

I understand the confusion. Andy--the youngest Gibb brother, who never was part of the Bee Gees--died first, tragically. Much later, Maurice and Robin Gibb passed away, leaving only Barry Gibb as the surviving sibling. This Midnight Special clip was of Andy in his rising heyday, and he was a magnetic solo star.

Andy was much younger than his brothers in the Bee Gees and so was not an original member. He began recording on his own following in his brother's footsteps during the disco era. The Bee Gees had been recording together for about 10 years at this time. Andy's songs were written and arranged by the Bee Gees giving him a similar sound. At the height of Andy's career the Bee Gees announced that Andy would become part of the group (giving the group four members at that time). Unfortunately, Andy's passed away before they record together. He was the first of the brothers to pass on.

Andy Gibb: a big celebrity crush of mine in my teens, and the first live concert a lifelong friend and I attended on our own as high schoolers! He was very talented, just like his three older brothers, The Bee Gees. He was the spitting image of oldest brother Barry! Sadly, he died much too young of a viral heart inflammation, exacerbated by years of cocaine abuse, at only 30. He was the first Gibb brother to leave this world. But in that short time, he left his musical and pop culture mark. Many years later, both the twins, Maurice and Robin, passed away at different times; Barry is the last remaining brother.

Great reaction! I remember being a kid in the 70s when Andy had his big year and everyone knew who he was. It amazes me how fleeting fame can be. Back then, there was no internet chatter and quite frankly most celebrities were complete mysteries surrounded by speculation and mystique. I was definitely envious because he seemed to have it all, and of course every girl apparently had a huge crush on him. What I didn’t know was how troubled he was and how lucky I was NOT to have his life. When they announced his death, he was young and it came as a complete surprise to me. It took me a long while to learn the story because news was much harder to get back then. Anyway, I loved this song when it came out. It is a shame that someone with so much talent, good looks, and money ultimately could not get it together. Life is not easy; if you are happy that’s all it takes. You can be happy without a lot of money. Count your blessings and don’t envy those who appear to have it all because in fact you might actually have a lot more.

Hi Jamel. Although a recent subscriber I've been watching you since almost the beginning of your channel. Props!
The really cool thing about Andy is that he arguably had the most special voice out of all the Gibb brothers, with full respect to the underrated Robin. I don't think he had the range of Barry and wasn't the songwriting virtuoso of his big brother, but if you listen really carefully to this song and focus on his tone it should bring a smile to your face.
This particular live performance doesn't do him justice, so keep looking for other versions. Like the hair, the teeth and their looks, there is something really special when siblings inherit the same voice. Blended together, and especially in harmony it makes for absolute magic,
The best, and my favourite example are the Everly brothers. I saw them in concert several times and when they turned down the lights low and sang Kentucky every hair on my body stood straight on end.

There is a version of Andy Gibb singing The Bee Gees, “Words” at some Award show or something on TH-cam. It is the one where he is wearing a tux. This version is fantastic. He sounds and looks like Barry with the vibrato of Robin. Check it out!
    RIP Andy Gibb!
