I met Willie and spent a few days with him years ago. Its like a guy you meet at 7-11 and decide to drink a few beers with him and hang out. A normal dude, man....
💘Roger Miller! 💘Glen Campbell 💘Willie Nelson. Thanks for the beautiful 😍music that brightened my life. I'm eternally grateful. God bless and may their souls rest in peace.
2:55 I could just die.The playing the tempo.Willies picking. All of their individual voices. The love in this song .The 57 years of my life that have gone by .My family that have gone by.
You think these three are good together, check out The Highwaymen. Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. True outlaw country with those four.
Love this song by Roger, in spite of all the crazy songs Roger wrote, he sure proved with this one, and some others that he could write a serious song with the best of them...
I was too young to know what a loss we had when we lost roger miller and no disrespect to glen Campbell. I've seen roger millers work and consider my self to be one of his greatest modern fan's. Don't go Willie... never leave. I'm a 30. Stick around Willie for as long as you can. I love your talent.
Glen and Willie are getting old. It will be a sad sad day. We've already lost so many country legends in the last few years. Guy Clark and Merle Haggard this year. We'll always have the gifts they left us though.
If you weren't aware poolofmud -- listen to Roger Miller's true masterpiece -- "River In the Rain," (TH-cam) from an award winning Broadway show he wrote called "Big River" (1985). Miller wrote some memorable hit songs in the 60's but this "River In the Rain" tune convinces me he was no flash in the pan country-novelty singer-songwriter. Miller was masterful. The musicians on this track are stellar.
What I miss most about these men and their contemporaries of the time...they were all unique...everyone didn't sound the same and there wasn't a "formula". What a rich moment with Glen, Willie and Roger.
There was a formula alright. But all the songs that sounded the same isn't remembered. These guys are some of the ones who refused to be defined by a genre, and locked in a box by a producer.
Good thoughts but you might want to wait until Willie is gone before you start missing him. The man is still around and on tour as of 2022. He'll probably outlive you.
Willie is the most identifiable guitar player in music history......even when couched with great players........as he is here. I could listen to 1000 instrumental only guitar centric sections of music with a Willie/no Willie button, and I would not miss one time.
Yes, three very different singers and guitar players! I love Glen Campbell of course… And I love Willie Nelson and I love Roger Miller! All three their own styles! And Willie Nelson playing on that old guitar with that hole in it, it’s kind of amazing! He has such a great sound with that old guitar… And I love his voice and I love Roger Miller’s also!!!! Great song, Old Friends! Maybe what they are!
That old guitar is a martin classical guitar with nylon strings, quite expensive in the 60's. Willie plays it in way that it's not meant to played, hence the damage since it has no pick guard. It's how he has such a unique sound. Oh and he is a virtuoso guitar plyer.
Willie is still out there performing just before the pandemic I saw him at the Houston rodeo and it was an amazing show. He had the entire Houston arena on their feet.
I'll just point out that between the three of them, they made 166 appearances on the C&W Top 40 charts in Billboard. They also put 39 of those hits on the Pop Top 40. What a gathering of true talents. I was lucky enough to meet all of them back in my DJ days, and they were a treat to be around.
I love the history together of Roger Miller, Willie Nelson, and Ray Price. I love Glen Campbell. Like the commenters said, “Amazing Professionals” , and “Mount Rushmore of Music, Come to Life.”
…O they tell me of a King in His beauty there, And they tell me that mine eyes shall behold Where He sits on the throne that is whiter than snow, In the city that is made of gold O they tell me that He smiles on His children there, And His smile drives their sorrows all away; And they tell me that no tears ever come again, In that lovely land of uncloudy day……
Ok....I am not a country music fan..but are Country music performers good? You bet your ars!! they are among the best musicians and singers in the world...Now I am a former musician..I listen to these 3 GODS ..well I feel..a bit small :):) God landed on these Guys too much talent too handle. How can you get 3 different talents and 3 different style of music..put them in the Music blender..and VOILA'..great sound..thank you Davehenry55
You know, I've been telling folks this for about 30 years, and it just sort of falls on deaf ears. As a musician myself, I recognized at a very early age just how how good some of these guys are. Everyone credits rock musicians as being the best, but some of Nashville's finest are in a different class. Great post.
That solo of Willies was top notch. You know, especially now days, since the advent of computers and gadgets, musicians aren't NEAR as good as back in the day... especially rock, pop etc.
giuseppe Garibaldi The thing that links all these guys and their talent is their Southern Christian upbringing and their dedication to their music, plain and simple.
I'll never forget when Roger Miller made everyone a fan, and made them laugh like hell when 'Dang Me' hit the airwaves!!! It kinda shocked a few people too, but man, was it a big hit!!!
Who'd have guessed back then that Roger would be gone from cancer, Glenn from Alzheimer's and Willie--the oldest of the trio--would still be on the road?
Victorville California hosted an annual bluegrass festival for many years. One year Michael Martin Murphy was supposed to be the headliner but canceled at the last minute. Roger Miller showed up and put on an incredible show. It was 1991 or 92 I think.
Lovely but I preferred Willie singing when he was younger,as he's gotten older he sings at the back of his throat, as for the other two one word for both Fabulous.
OLD FRIENDS.....one of the greatest country songs ever written. Thanks Roger, ya done good.
Gold. Real talent. Some of the best in Country Music's history.
I met Willie and spent a few days with him years ago. Its like a guy you meet at 7-11 and decide to drink a few beers with him and hang out. A normal dude, man....
Cool!!
“If the good lord put too much talent in one human being’s body that’d be Glen Campbell” - Merle Haggard. RIP gentlemen
Amen brother
Looks, talent and charisma...what more do you need?
Ole Merle always had some great quotes.
💘Roger Miller! 💘Glen Campbell 💘Willie Nelson. Thanks for the beautiful 😍music that brightened my life. I'm eternally grateful. God bless and may their souls rest in peace.

ty im 73 and a biker
The older I get, the more I appreciate this song; especially as I lose good friends with time.
They are all very talented but no one plays the guitar like Willie.
Good to see these greats together again. Willie's on fine form here.
Three totally different styles and talents, yet they make amazing music together. True professionals in every sense of the word!

You think these three are good together, check out The Highwaymen. Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. True outlaw country with those four.
True!!
Yes, indeed!!
Impeccable merci
Love this song by Roger, in spite of all the crazy songs Roger wrote, he sure proved with this one, and some others that he could write a serious song with the best of them...
I woke up this morning and what did I hear your songs you singing happiness comes over me thank you so much
Once in million combo. Thanks for posting

And now Glen, :( RIP
Three of the legends I grew up listening to. I keep a guitar in my home because of these men.
What I miss most about these men and their contemporaries of the time...they were all unique...everyone didn't sound the same and there wasn't a "formula". What a rich moment with Glen, Willie and Roger.

This is like gold.
Good thoughts but you might want to wait until Willie is gone before you start missing him. The man is still around and on tour as of 2022. He'll probably outlive you.
WHAT A TRIO OF GIANTS.. Absolutely tremendous. - REST EASY DEAREST GLEN. RIP ROGER, and keep going on Willie. xx
Willie is the most identifiable guitar player in music history......even when couched with great players........as he is here.
I could listen to 1000 instrumental only guitar centric sections of music with a Willie/no Willie button, and I would not miss one time.
Bellissimo video! Abbiamo tre voci meravigliose per una canzone molto bella! 😊😊😍😍🎶🎸🎸🎸🎶💘❤️💯💯💯🌅
Thanx so much, Davehenry55, for sharing this little treasure!
RIP, sweet gentlemen, and thanx so very very much, for the magic, music, and memories.
Willies playing is just like his kids sweet Jesus I'm in love with this 💥✌🏼🎸👠😎this family and their talents.
Glens gone now too! I love u tube for loving fans enough to let us have these treasures to watch! A gift 🎁

Che meraviglia! Un trio favoloso! La voce di Willie risalta... 😊😊😍😍😘😘🎶🎸🎸🎶💘❤️💋💯💯💯
Just happened upon this, WOW! 3 of the most unique talents ever.
Old friends is a beautiful song. What a joy.
This is great. What a wonderful version of this beautiful song.
They are gods, and they will live forever. Thank you Glen, thank you Roger, and thank you Willie!
Glen had the ability to change his voice in so many ways. When he's singing here he is doing his willie version and pretty good too.
The talent of these greats. Three great American musicians. Makes me nostalgic.
this is spectacular!! the talent is out of the world all 3 of them! love that this was on vcr tape, what a treasure! thanks for posting.
Like a gathering of three great statesmen or senators, these three men have contributed so much to our American cultural heritage.
Wow. Besides being good singers, these three were also awesome guitar pickers!
I think this was probably in the 70's. These three had OODLES OF TALENT to burn. all three now very much missed. two great songs for sure.
We still have Willie.
This clip was from The Glen Campbell Music Show (1982), and Willie Nelson is still singing & strumming and Touring at age 86!!
Willie is still out there performing just before the pandemic I saw him at the Houston rodeo and it was an amazing show. He had the entire Houston arena on their feet.
this is oct 2020 what we really need is more of this--good strumming--good singing--good fun-we are smiling now!
So special, thankyou for sharing.
3 singing angels 😇 💕 🎶 but we still have willi Nelson on earth 🌎 PTL the greatest ♥️ ✝️ ✝️ ✝️ 🕊 🕊 🕊 🕊

Jim Southern-What a thrill meeting this special trio of friends must have been for you! They will never be replaced.
Before his fame as a singer Glen Campbell was a top studio musician and is on a lot more top 40 songs than that and not just C&W.
very cool!!
Where did you DJ at Jim ? You have got to have some great stories from then.
I don't remember ever hearing this... it is beautiful! thank you so much for posting this... so poignant now....
ur very welcome
Three great talents, Roger such a funny guy too.
Three great guitar players and musicians.
Listen to those guitars! They really sing as well as the voices.
Doesn’t get any better than this!!!!!!!
Beautiful by these awesome singers!!❤️❤️
TRIGGER & WILLIE, A GUITAR THAT PLAYS ITS SELF...
I love the history together of Roger Miller, Willie Nelson, and Ray Price. I love Glen Campbell. Like the commenters said, “Amazing Professionals” , and “Mount Rushmore of Music, Come to Life.”

Nice harmony at the end!
Beautiful!!!
I never knew he wrote Old Friends. It has been performed by nearly everyone. I love this version.
I was in this audience. Met all three of them after and the producer, Pierre Cossette.
🇧🇷 Muito bom!
Mount Rushmore of Music Come to Life. Awesome!
Writing this on Willie’s 88th Bday! Yay!
Hang in there Willie! RIP Roger and Glen.
I am with you....what a trio!
Now that is a stage full of talent !
Too much talent for one stage! ❤️❤️❤️
Willie, amazing on guitar,....
Lindo, a melhor apresentação que eu conheço.
Willie Nelson. Greatest of the greats!
CLASSIC!!! LOVED IT!!!!♡😘
Never knew this vid existed, it really is a peach. WOW!
Willie never caved in to popular guitars, The N 20 has served his purpose.
Willie understands how to play over chords... very nice.
Excellent !!!
Willie's guitar then and now.
..... Excellent.
Love these guys...so authentic!
This. Is . Perfect.
Great clip
Great just great, they look so comfortable with each other.
Trigger was so young then ,
LEGENDS..💕
Three of Country greats.
Who'd have guessed back then that Roger would be gone from cancer, Glenn from Alzheimer's and Willie--the oldest of the trio--would still be on the road?
Real country music not the modern crap nowadays , I’m a rocker and I know the difference 😎
Come on.....does it get any better!!!! Oh they tell me!!!!💝
It don't get no better.. lot of good feelings there, you can see and hear it in Glen Campbell's voice
Victorville California hosted an annual bluegrass festival for many years. One year Michael Martin Murphy was supposed to be the headliner but canceled at the last minute. Roger Miller showed up and put on an incredible show. It was 1991 or 92 I think.
real good olé' TV entertainment, oozing with talent, don't get that anymore,...
So much soul, so much talent
Fantastic , If you have headphones you will notice only one sides plays with this song , has any one noticed ?
Who gives a shit
love the song old friends
I wish that I had just 25 % of the music ability that Glen had.
Too bad that they didn’t invite Glen to do an album with them.
Definitions of greatiness]
@@royprice9136AMEN! Mr. Price.
Outlaw country singers play their guitars. I never saw George Strait do the same. Strait's wears guitar as props.
OLD FRIENDS SONG MAKES ME FALL ASLEEP
